We stayed for 9 days on Sanibel Island and rented a lovely home called Toucan House. We had travelled from the UK with another couple and combined this stay with a short cruise. We had visited Sanibel before and knew a lot about the area. Unfortunately, when we arrived we were on the tail end of a hurricane which had narrowly missed the island but left the seas and beaches in a bad condition, so we weren't able to take advantage of the beautiful sea shores we had visited previously. Toucan House is a modern beautifully furnished home and we were very comfortable for our entire stay.It accommodates every need and is well maintained. Everything went very well. We had a great time at the house and a wonderful
Christmas with our kids and grandchildren.

The house worked well for all of us. It was plenty large and we had a great
time walking to the beach and riding bikes all over the island. I found the
kitchen to be one of the best equipped of any home we have ever rented and
the supply of linens was abundant and of nice quality. The huge screened-in
porch was a wonderful place to gather and the deck is a great place to sit in
the sun and read. The upstairs bedroom was loved by the kids a place to get
away. It even has a nice screened-in porch of its own. The master bedroom is

We thoroughly enjoyed our time with my wife and 2 daughters at Toucan House. Very roomy, comfortable, well furnished & appointed, felt right at home. Went to a different beach every morning and we all went shelling at dusk. For a relaxing beach vacation, I recommend The Toucan House. More...

My husband and I rented the Toucan House for a month and had a wonderful time. We've been coming to Sanibel Island for years because of the wildlife diversity and the fantastic beaches and shells. Staying at Toucan House gave us a feeling for the first time of what it would be like to live on the island. The home is very comfortable, and the kitchen is better stocked than any rental we have ever used (actually, better than my own kitchen!). The neighborhood is lovely and well landscaped. The owners were kind enough to allow our little dogs to join us, and they enjoyed the visit as well. They especially liked the trail to the beach, where they saw rabbits and gopher tortoises. One tip for getting to the beach: we had some older relatives visit us while we were there, and we found that it was helpful to invest in a Parking Permit B (obtained at the Sanibel police station), which allowed unlimited parking at numerous beaches on the island. The walk to Bowman's Beach from the Toucan House is lovely, but it was a little long for our older guests. The Toucan House gives you a lot of house for the money. I was also very pleased with the property management company, Sanibel Holiday. They were courteous, helpful, and prompt with all necessary communication. I hope we get to go back next year!! More...
