The service received from Ms Joyce(Cook), Ms Evelyn (Housekeeper), Rowan (Groundsman) was excellent. The standard of Whistling Villa high and is exactly as it's shown in the photos, there were no hidden surprises. All the rooms & en suite bathrooms were spacious and clean, had air conditioning, it had a very homely feel about it.
The location of the villa is 30-45 mins walk away from the private beach which is of average standard and you have to pay for the Sun loungers. The majority of grocery food can be purchased at the local supermarket which is approximately 1hr walking time away.
If you prefer to get butcher cuts of meat you will have to travel to Salem Meat Shop which you will have to travel by car or public transport. If you play golf then the villa's location is ideal because it is not far from the Golf Course.
I liked the fact that I could purchase locally grown vegetation from the street vendor round the corner from supermarket, exchange currency, withdraw from ATM, Surf the Internet, and much more all in the same little town centre. The pool was kept clean at all times, it is of good size with a seriously deep end that your feet cannot touch.
The only thing I liked the least was that we had torential rain for 4 days solid!(You cant control weather!!) also if you wanted to travel to other parishes/towns, you definitely need 2 hire a car or use the driver services provided & pay him after each trip.

We really enjoyed our stay here in Jan 2010. The villa is huge, the pool is great and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Joyce, the cook really is a treasure. She cooked a lovely range of Jamaican food for breakfast and dinner,also a fresh cake every day for tea!
The villa was kept clean by Evelyn,who didn't grumble once about picking up after my four kids!
George the driver was awesome. He took us all over the island on adventures and shared his knowledge with enthusiasm. A true gent!
The local beaches are beautiful, especially Discovery Bay.There are many things to do in the Runaway Bay area, we went Jetskiing,snorkeling, horseriding in the sea,river tubing,bobsleighing[!!]caving. The local jerk centres are delicious and value for money. We went to Margaretaville three times!Ochos Rios is a must, as is Browns Town market.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff were superb: friendly, helpful and fun. Each day started with breakfast on the veranda, overlooking the pool. In the evening, we relaxed in the huge living room, had drinks on the veranda or stared up at the stars, with the tropical sounds of crickets and frogs filling the air. We loved staying in the villa at Runaway Bay, IT was very relaxing and a great place to come and settle in, in the evenings as we did a lot of traveling around Jamaica. Our daughter was married in Jamaica so this place was large enough to hold 10 of us in one place. The staff members were wonderful and went well beyond their call of duty. We never felt unsafe and they always helped us with information that we needed. I would recommend this place to anyone, whether a family or a couple. The kids lived in the pool and the water was like bath tub temperature. We would definitly come back to stay again.
