My month long stay in the Park Apartment at Pilrig House can only be
described as delightful! The apartment truly was everything it was
advertised
to be and more. Its modern amenities and rich history make this apartment
a
rare find.
With a lovely view from our doorstep of Pilrig Park ,we awakened each
morning
to the sounds of birds chirping and squirrels playfully chasing each other in
the park. The Park Apartment provided a peaceful retreat after a long day of
sightseeing in Edinburgh and a wonderful base from which to make day
trips
to the surrounding areas.
Debbie and Philip have provided all the things needed to make ones stay
enjoyable and relaxing. They were always willing and egger to make helpful
suggestions.
I enjoyed my stay so much that I have already booked again for next year.I
look forward to seeing Debbie and Philip again as they have become good
friends. |

Best Place We've Ever Stayed! |

My husband and I spent the second week of our Honeymoon at Pilrig
House. My parents joined us there and we were all wowed by the beauty of
the Balfour Apartment and Pilrig House in general. We were warmly
welcomed by Debbie who gave us a short tour of the apartment and showed
us where to find all the brochures and pamphlets of tourist attractions and
restaurants. The owners really have thought of everything you could
possibly need and put it right in the apartment. If you forget anything at all
chances are you will find it in the apartment. When Debbie left after
greeting us we all felt like little kids at Christmas. The place was beautifully
decorated and impeccably clean. It truly felt like home instantly. The only
problem for us was that it made it difficult to leave the apartment to go
sightseeing! My parents said that they slept the best they have slept in
years. The apartment was extremely quiet night and day. There were
numerous grocery stores that we were within walking distance and Pilrig
Park is lovely. We all loved it and were very sad to leave. We would highly
recommend Pilrig House to anyone visiting Edinburgh. I can't imagine EVER
staying anywhere else. We hope to get back to Pilrig House again! |

The owners, Phill and Debbie were very helpful and informative, to the extent of providing a guided tour of Edinburgh on our arrival. Many thanks for making us feel so welcome. |

Had a great week - Philip was very helpful and gave us a lot of good tips! There were loads of brochures and books with further information and Philip and Debbie even managed to organize a mini heatwave - we had the wrong clothing and even got a sun burn! The town is quite close and buses seem to run every 5 minutes in all directions - use one of the many tour operators to see the countryside and lakes. The apartment had everything plus chocolates/whiskey/fresh fruit and flowers! The beds were very comfortable and everything was clean and tidy. Traffic was awful in the town due to roadworks - very noisy but one can escape back to Pilrig House to sit and watch the squirrels!!

Pilrig - how can I write a review that will give this wonderful apartment the justice that it deserves? I'll start by saying that, having stayed there twice so far, I wouldn't want to go to Edinburgh and NOT stay at Pilrig. For my family Pilrig IS Edinburgh.
The apartment is immaculate - beautifully decorated and maintained, the attention to detail is quite amazing. Debbie and Philip spare no effort in making it welcoming, comfortable (those beds! ah!)and a joy to reside in. The location of Pilrig House, in the park, is an incredible asset to the property. How unique to be so close to the fascinating city of Edinburgh, and all that it has to offer and yet be able to enjoy the tranquility of this pretty setting. To sit in that lovely window seat and watch the world go by, book in hand (from the admirable selection in the apartment) or to sit on those sun warmed steps... Just writing of it makes me want to return! And return we shall, no doubt about that!
Of all that should, (and will, I hope) draw you to Pilrig, for your stay in Edinburgh let me speak of Debbie and Philip. You could not find kinder and more helpful hosts. They go to incredible lengths to look after their guests and make their stay as enjoyable as possible. They have a massive knowledge of Edinburgh and informed us of many places that we never would have found by ourselves. They cannot be praise highly enough.
Edinburgh is an amazing and beautiful city to visit, and Pilrig is THE base to use to explore it from. Enjoy. |

| Staying at the Pilrig House was truly the highlight of our 2 week trip through England and Scotland. It immediately became our home away from home all because of Debbie's attention to detail-from the welcoming bouquet of flowers and champagne to the luxurious soaps, towels and bedding we enjoyed every day. We wanted our 25th Wedding Anniversary to be special and she made sure it was. We appreciated having the maps and guide books in the room and the many great travel suggestions she gave us during our "front porch" chats! We will never forget our vacation in Scotland and the Pilrig House. |

| We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Pilrig House. Debbie and Philip Martin couldn't have made our stay more enjoyable - the appartment is amazing - every little thing you could possibly want for your stay is there - from a basket of "smellies" in the beautifully decorated bedroom, to the fresh coffee and biscuits in the fully fitted kitchen. The attention to detail is first class and Debbie and Philip not only made us so welcome, but offered to drive us to our daughter's Graduation ceremony, and told us all about the best places to visit, eat etc. A wonderful, relaxing place and we will definitely be back again. |

We have travelled to Edinburgh on other occasions and have been fortunate to have stayed at B&B's and Apartments in the town centre. Pilrig House apartment was very comfortable and beautifully presented. Garden outlook of the park and gardens was also inviting. The extra's on arrival where very much appreciated as where the bath robes and umberallas. Debbie's local knowledge was very informative and helpfully. We especially liked to see the squirrels in the garden and the park.

My husband and I chose a "road trip" to Scotland for our 25th weddding anniversary. At the end of the trip we had three days in Edinburgh. We book Pilrig House and were so delighted!
Both Debbie and her husband were so welcoming. The apartment was perfect and charming. Also well located to everything we wanted to do in Edinburgh. The reservation gave us complimentary entry to the "Scotch Whiskey Club" which had two locations and was fantastic!
Would highly recommend Pilrig House for it's location, the warmth and knowledge of Debbie and her husband and the value.
Can't wait to return!!

| I stayed here for 5 nights in October of 2007 and had a fantastic stay! This is a far more authentic visit to Edinburgh than any hotel can give you. You really have the feel of staying in a historic home in Edinburgh. The home is perfectly kept and sits on a lovely park, all about a 10-15 minute walk from Prince Street. The Martin's are fantastic and a wonderful help to anyone staying in the home. |

| We had a wonderful New Year at Pilrig House, the apartment was superb. We could not fault anything about our stay... Debbie even helped us take our luggage to the apartment, we couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. Every detail was well thought out and the light, airy apartment was immaculately clean! We thoroughly enjoyed the treats of M&S biscuits and the fine decanter of whisky that were put out for our use to name but a few of the many treats and thoughtful supplies that we were very grateful for. We had a lovely view over the park, which looked beautiful with the frost on the trees each morning. We will definitely return for another stay. |

| My husband, daughter and I stayed at Pilrig House during the summer of 2007. We truly loved it. The property itself was beautiful, but the owners were the real selling feature. Philip was wonderful; a funny and knowledgable man. Debbie was a lovely host as well. The unit was a 2 bedroom apartment, one exuding much character and charm. I would absolutely stay there again. |
