Guest Reviews for Pilrig House Apartments, Balfour Apartment

A privilege to stay at Pilrig House
We travelled to Edinburgh from Melbourne, Australia to spend Christmas with our young adult children who are both studying in the UK. Pilrig House provided the perfect place for a warm and relaxed Christmas celebration and family reunion.
Debbie and Phillip were very generous and gracious hosts, coming out in the snow and cold to greet us personally when we arrived, providing warm jumpers and help with our Christmas food shopping while the snow fell heavily on Christmas Eve. (Scotland was in the grip of the coldest winter in more than 20 years) The Balfour apartment was beautifully furnished and lovingly decorated for Christmas with a tree, a delicious hamper of Christmas treats, candles and nice fragrances. We found everything we could possibly need in the apartment and more, including DVDs and music to cater for all tastes.
This is a beautiful old house in a peaceful location but close enough to the heart of Edinburgh for us to walk, even in the cold. The park in front of the house was covered in snow and provided a really rural outlook. We enjoyed watching people play with their dogs each morning in the park, not at all daunted by the icy conditions. The snow brought out the boy in our 26 year old PhD student son who was caught (and I hope forgiven) throwing snowballs at the windows in moments of joyful exuberance.
We felt very privileged to stay at Pilrig House and hope to return if we are lucky enough to visit Scotland again.
We particulary appreciated the comfortable furnishings, lovely linens, very well equipped kitchen, effective central heating, warm ambience and privacy.
Debbie and Phillip can be proud of how well these properties are cared for and of their skills as hosts.

Balfour Apartment, Pilrig House, Edinburgh
A fantastic self catering experience. Exceptionally clean and well thought out. Fine quality bedding and toiletries. It just felt we were in a luxery home rather than a holiday apartment. We loved being in the park, not overlooked. I would strongly commend Pilrig House to anyone. It is close enough to the city centre to get in and out without any problems but has the feel of a grand old country house. We hope to return one day. All the other places we stayed at in Scotland just paled against Pilrig House More...

A wonderful home away from home!
Our family spent five nights at Pilrig House during our trip to Scotland and it
was the perfect place to stay! The location was great, the apartment was
immaculate - it truly felt like a home away from home. Every little detail was
included. We've stayed at other places on past trips to Europe, and none
matched Pilrig house for comfort, features, and friendliness. Debbie has an eye
for details and decorating! She was extremely helpful and informative.
I can't emphasize enough what a wonderful stay we had at Pilrig House.
Thanks Debbie!

Great Vacation
Excellent way to explore Edingurgh. Location is excellent and the adjacent park is quite enjoyable. Unit was furnished very nicely and had many nice little extras such as fresh fruit and supply of the basics. Unit was also exceptionally clean and I can would recommend Pilrig house to anyone visiting Scotland. RHS
