At "home" on the beach.
We found this stay a very pleasant experience. The facility is family-friendly and the provided amenities were very welcome and useful (Free buffet at Golden Corall, tickets to The Track). The staff is easy to engage and helpful in every way.
The downside was the continual opening and closing of the neighbors' balcony sliding doors, a very distinct, heavy "rumbling". Our door performed the same, noisily. Perhaps a thorough cleaning of the tracks and lubrication with wax (an old remady)might help quieten the doors down.
No other "whining" is offered. Thank you all for a wonderful time in Destin, Florida.

Nice and clean!
Unit 409 in the Islander is wonderful. it is the first unit on the floor so you only have one neighbor (the sliding glass doors next door were very loud). It has two BR'S 2full BA, nice kitchen, great deck, tile floors and carpet. Funishings were modern (target look) and the unit was super clean when we arrived.
The major problem I had with the Islander was on the beach. I watched the beach service set up thier chairs and and umbrellas everyday and they would take up nearly the entire beach. Most of them would sit empty and just hog the space. They also had "decoy" chairs and umbrellas that did not have company logos on them and they would sit up 3 or 4 of them and tables as if that was someones spot, If they got busy they would remove them and put their rentals there, three days in a row they never rented the area and at the end of the day they would pack up stuff and do the same thing the next day. What is even worse is the employees would ask you to move if you set up near their empty chairs and umbrellas that they hoped to rent. They told me an "owner" would be down later and he would ask me to move. I saw him ask two other families to move. I told him no thanks! Nobody owns the beach all the way to the waterline. They were rude and daily they tried to hog all the beach, shame on them. If you like the beach stay elsewhere or rent a chair and umbrella for 12 dollars a day from the beach service racket. More...
