Like staying with old friends

Staying in the Camallo apartment in Rome was simply a perfect experience for our family of three. The service provided by Mauro and Carmen exceeded anyone's expectations. Mauro offered his time generously. He arranged transportation from and to Da Vinic (Fiumicino). We met the best limo driver and the rate was not that much more than what we would have paid for public transportation for 3 people (3Euros). He oriented us to the neighbourhood - places to eat, where to shop for food and clothing. I cannot say more about this very urbane and cultured man and his supportive family. We feel as if we were staying with friends.

The apartment was a perfect 1 bedroom wiht a sofa bed - an excellent bed, in which our child with back problems had no trouble sleeping or awakening. The apartment is fully equipped and we ate in a great deal of the time.

The location is about 15 min from the Vatican museum and about 5 min from the Cipro subway (which also nominally services the Vatican Museum). By train and walking, we explored most of the city without issue. The apartment is proximal to two supermarkets (3-5 min) and about 15 min from an "farmer's" market. A very good butcher, a baker and cheese shop, a wine shop along with a very good cafe and pizza places are all proximal (within 5 min). The neighbourhood is safe. Indeed, we had no problem walking after 1000hrs.

We loved the place. Rome was a bit wet, but no one controls the weather.

Mauro and Carmen are urbane, highly educated travelers, who also have places for vacation rentals in New York, Paris and Venice. We like to travel and will likely stay in any place owned and operated by our new friends More...

A lovely home away from home

My wife and I spent five pleasant days in this
comfortable apartment in December 2009. It is very
well suited for two persons, but can accomodate
four if needed. It has all modern amenities
including microwave, dishwasher, large fridge,
washing machine and so on. The apartment has nice
balconies, but as the apartment is in the 7th floor
and if you have aversion for high places you might
not use them much. On ther other hand being in the
7th floor means that noise from the street is
minimal and you sleep well in the comfortable
bedroom. The apartment is very well located as it
is at an easy walking distance from the Vatican and
the metro station is only about 100 meters from the
apartment and grocery store and market and other
shops and cafes and many restaurants are close by.
We can warmly recommend this apartment for a
comfortable stay in Rome. More...

5 weeks in rome

The apt is very well decorated and up to date. The kitchen is well appointed with a full size refrigerator.Plenty of hot water and a fair sized shower. The apt is 2 blocks from the subway, with everything else you would need just outside the front door. The neighborhood is safe and lively, but not too loud.Mauro and Carmen are easy to get in touch with via email or phone. They are very generous and helpfull.I would bring my own lap top ,as we did , it makes it easier.Four people would have no problems staying here as the couch unfolds into a comfortable bed, and there is plenty of closet space. For Americans this would be as close to an apt in the states as you could get. Where has this place been hiding ......

I spent 2 weeks at the apartment at New Years . I have been looking for this apartment for years ! It will appeal to both frequent travelers to Rome and to anyone on their first trip. The apartment is very comfortable and well equipped. The owners Mauro and Carmen were outstanding in their care that everything is going well, as well as giving recommendation on places to visit. The location is excellent. Located close to a Metro subway and bus stop, all locations in Rome are within reach. As well, there is easy access to the Termini and Tiburtina stations for train, bus and airport connections. Day and overnight trips outside of Rome are easy. I would definitely go back to this apartment when I return to Rome.

Excellent accommodation

My wife and 2 daughters stayed in May 2009 at the Vatican apartment for close to 1 week.

It was extremely comfortable, well furnished, the air-conditioning was a fabulous plus.

The apt is very well located, close to a subway/bus station taking you where ever you want to go in Rome (my advise use public transport). Very easy once you understand the system and lines.

We found an excellent restaurant nearby and a fabulous grocery store not even 1 minute away.

The owners are very helpful, very friendly and very welcoming.

If I return to Rome I will use this apt again.

PS: the owner alos has an apt in Paris we ended up booking. Another gem.
