Vacation Rental Description

This restored farmhouse is delightful, located on 2 acres of secluded grounds in one of the most beautiful valleys, in the North Alentejo area of Portugal close to the historic medieval villages of Marvao and Castelo de Vide. The house has spectacular views from the wooden decked terrace down to the mountain stream and across to the olive terraces backed by the forest.

The house which sleeps up to 8 people has been tastefully and comfortably furnished using a combination of traditional and modern styles.

The kitchen is superbly equipped as are the bedrooms with their new super comfortable orthopaedic matresses. The spacious open plan dining and sitting area is stylishly furnished with a dining table seating up to 8 people, a large comfortable sofa, cosy wood burning stove, flat screen TV and DVD, Hi-Fi system with CD/MP3, radio and cassette.

There is also a selection of books, games, CDs and DVDs to choose from.

Direct access from the sitting area is through two large full length patio doors to a new wooden decked terrace which runs the full length of the house. On the terrace there is a barbecue and dining area.

The mountain stream is an ideal playground for both children and adults, hours of endless fun paddling and dam building or laze in the hammock and watch the fun!

A place for relaxing with only the sounds of nature, birdsong, distant goat bells and the soothing gurgle of the adjoining mountain stream. A truly unspoilt natural environment and an ideal holiday destination.

This is the most beautiful house that I have ever stayed in with its warm and tranquil atmosphere. My favourite place was the terrace with its gorgeous views and I did a little bit of yoga here every morning! I came home so refreshed from my week in an extremely picturesque and authentic part of Portugal.

Our two weeks spent at the Quinta were wonderful. It has been a very long time since we were able to enjoy such true peace and quiet with little or no mechanical noise. The house itself was cool, comfortable and very well equipped, providing an excellent base from which to set off each day.

We found the best way to see the region was by following one of the excellent walks provided. To be able to walk in ancient landscapes, down cobbled tracks with only the sound of birds and the occasional goat or sheep bell is a rare treat in this day and age. Each walk was full of colour, plants, wildlife and history and all different with some unique sights.

This is not the holiday for those who need shops, fully working mobile phones, touristy things, bright lights, and people; it is a must however for those wanting to re-discover the lost art of silence, a slice of peace and quiet and see some fantastic sights.
