A view to die for

We stayed in this little slice of heaven for a week and loved every moment. The view from the kitchen window was absolutely spectacular and made us feel so much a part of the Amalfi Coast! The Suite was simply furnished but adequate for holiday needs. Nowhere to lounge comfortably except the bed as just a kitchen table and chairs. The terrace was pretty and private, though you cant see the water from the chairs/table as there is a waist high brick wall, but if you stand up, was fantastic... I preferred to sit and read at the kitchen table as you could see the water while reading....There was obviously a little problem with the sewerage when we were there as you did smell some pretty strange smells from the outdoor terrrace, but perhaps that is fixed by now...

Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast terrace was spectacular...water and bouganvillias surrounding. Breakfast was simple and typically European...we enjoyed it.

You need to walk to the nearby towns of Minori and Maiori, and to Atrani and Amalfi..or at least to the nearest bus stop, and the walk along the road can be pretty "exciting". Not much room between you and the traffic! My husband and I didnt mind this as locals walk everywhere and it was a chance to really "experience" the Amalfi Coast. However, for older couples or those fainthearted, perhaps staying somewhere within a town would be more suitable...To get to a restaurant, you do need to walk 10-15 minutes or so...again, in the mild weather when we were there, no problem, but not so much fun if weather was inclement.
Overall, for us, who loved the walking in the mild weather, and didn't mind staying "out of town", it was a great place to stay and we would recommend it.

suite giardino slightly disappointing but scarpariello magnifice

gorgeous setting but i think if i was going to villa scarpariello again (which i would want to do) i would go to one of their rooms with a balcony, all of which looked beautiful. the kitchen and dining area in suite giardino were not special. also, next time we go to amalfi coast we would fly to naples then take the ferry to amalfi (10 euros) rather than hire a car. i never want to hire a car on amalfi coast again!
