From the well appointed kitchen, the 3 huge flat screen TV's, the beach
access card, the ice chest for taking to the beach, the comfortable beds,
spacious closet space and bathrooms and the grocery discount card, we
were thrilled! We have been to the Big Island about a dozen times and
always stay at the Orchid. We decided to try this for a little bit more quiet
and a better deal, and we will always return to these condos now.

The owners and Abbey Vacation Rentals have done just about everything to
ensure you will enjoy your stay. If you are going for beachfront and ocean
view, this is not for you. If you want night life and a party scene, this is not
for you. But if you want golf and beach access within a 5 minute drive, and
convenient restaurant and grocery access, this is a nice quiet spot with
everything you need.

The private beach access was a huge bennie for us. Showers, excellent
snorkeling (tons of coral), chairs and cabanas were included with the beach
access card.

The water pressure in the master shower was a little light for us and the
flipper on the downstairs toilet had a tendency to stick. We did not
complain about these things so can't speak to response times of the
management company. For us it wasn't a big enough thing to worry about.
We were too busy enjoying ourselves.

As a side note, we think the west coast of the Big Island is an acquired
taste. It is not the lush green Hawaiian image you might have in your mind
when you think of Hawaii. It is a conglomeration of volcanoes and lava with
plenty of greenery in the resort areas, but pretty barren landscape in
