Pretty cottage with nice view but to far for us from anything.
The cottage is set in a very quite area (20 minutes from Clifton)on top of a very steep hill overlooking but quite a long walk from the sea.
It is a pretty stone and wood design with a large balcony facing the sea. There is however a large newbuild detached property still in the process of being finished next door, the grounds of which still resemble a building site. We did not however encounter any noise from the builders during our stay.We did however have dogs barking throughout the night.
One problem for us was the lack of air conditioning, the ceiling fan just wasn't enough. We did however on asking get supplied with a floor standing fan.
The other main problem was the amount of mosquitos. We sprayed ourselves and the rooms constantly and used the mosquito nets at night but still got bitten repeatedly.
Entry into the property grounds are through a ramshackle gate with a chain which has to be secured in an effort to keep the local goats from eating the neighbours market garden within the same grounds. This was quite a worry at times for us as the gate was poorly maintained and didnt close fully and the chain then had to be fed through in total darkness as there is no outside lighting within the garden.
Access into the grounds also needs improving as there is quite a steep drop from the roadway which is unsuitable for vehicle access.
We initially booked to stay here for 11 nights but decided to leave after 6 as we felt it just wasn't for us.Having spent a month touring the Grenadines this was our last island and we just felt that it was too isolated and there was very little for us to do on Union Island. The beaches were a very long walk or local bus ride away and there is very little else other than a few basic bars & basic food establishments. It is mainly where the yachties come to stock up on provisions etc. To sum up the cottage is very pretty with a sea view but due to its location be prepared for a good walk to local ammenities otherwise bus /taxi More...

Visiting Union Island
It is a charming island, not on the major tourist route. Loved sitting on the
verandah at night watching the sky change and the stars appear. A quick walk
into town downhill, and cheap to take a taxi back with shopping or if tired. We
used taxi's to get around, to the beaches etc. Love all the fruit at the colourful
market and the music and Caribbean ambiance and friendly people. It was
easy to take a boat to the Tobago Cays, and I did see a huge turtle cruising
along the bottom. The Cottage is cute, perfect for two people; I loved it.
