The cabin looked okay from the pictures but once we were there for a short period of time we noticed some big problems with the place.
1. There was no heat on the first floor. (2 of the bedrooms and both bathrooms are on this floor) We had to have techs come out twice to light the pilot on the furnace but it kept blowing out. Needless to say it was very cold trying to sleep at night and none of the party had a very restful time. (23F outside both nights that we spent there)
2. The Fireplaces had minds of their own. one would work for a little bit then the other would work for a while then they would both go out and not work for a while and so on. (Techs came out twice for this issue too)
3. The smoke detector on the first floor beeped the whole time we were there.
4. The place is advertised as being furnished. Almost everything was there except there were no forks in the cabin.
5. The dishwasher was busted and gross!
I feel that 1-3 are extremely important basic necessities and are unexceptionable issues. As for 4-5 it was just an added let down for our over all stay as we were using plastic silverware and washing dishes by hand. I feel that when renting a vacation home for as much as we paid that these amenities should be present and working for an over all customer experience. I would not rent this cabin again. I would however work with Big Bear Vacations to book a different cabin in the future. They were very helpful and attentive to our obvious needs while vacationing at Big Bear Lake. |

Dirty! Cold! |

| The home was dirty, cobwebs, dust, trash under couch and beds, sticky counters. There were dirty dishes in the cupboard. For a house that sleeps 8 there were only 2 forks, and 4 glasses (of various shapes and sizes). There was one large pot and a few cookie sheets, no fry pan...no sauce pan. The heater, water heater, upstairs fireplace and dish washer were not working when we got there. The water heater worked intermittantly through out our trip and had to be turned on several times beacause it would just shut down on its own. The upstairs fireplace and the dish washer never worked. There were no paper towels just one kitchen towel and a dirty disgusting old sponge to wash the already dirty dishes with. We left two nights early. I would not come back! I have rented many places, most recently in Park City and all were nicely stocked and clean and in working order. This was a great disappointment. |

| This place was fabulous! We really enjoyed all the comforts of home and the view of the lake was great. I really enjoyed the quiet neighborhood and the spa as well as the cozy fireplace at night. It is close to all the major destinations that Big Bear has to offer. I recommend it highly am looking forward to going again soon. |

| Home has a wonderful view of lake. The spa is very inviting! There is one bedroom upstairs along with kitchen and living, downstairs is a master and smaller bedroom. The only downside is there is no bathroom on the main floor, and bring extra towels you will need them for the lake! |

This was our first time here. What a pleasant experience. I am definately going back.
The house was very spacious and practical. A big kitchen with all the ammentities, plenty of room for all. Very relaxing and peaceful. We rented a boat(first time ever), fished (first time ever) and rode horses(first time ever). What a time of firsts !!!! I didn't want to leave.
Big Bear Vacation Rentals took care of everything and made it so easy for me.
I want to go back during winter time. |

The views at this house were wonderful, and it was pretty much
exactly as described. We experienced the unfortunate problem of
not having hot water, though. We called maintenance as soon as we
found out, which was unfortunately in the evening, and had to wait
around while the maintenance guy tried to figure out why we had
no hot water. Our entire first day, the only showers taken were ice
cold.
We experienced ants in the kitchen -- a lot of them -- and when
we called to inquire about this problem, the rental office told us
that ants are a 'fact of life' and basically to just deal with it. That
was a little off-putting.
Additionally, the hot tub never got quite 'hot', only warm like a
bathtub. We wish there had been more 'lounge' furniture in the
living area -- the couch and recliner comfortably seat 4 people but
we had 6 who wanted to kick back and relax!
And, we found a dead bird in the backyard when we got there,
which was a sad way to start the trip since we're birdwatchers -- a
beautiful Northern Flicker.
Other than that, the accomodations were spacious and comfortable.
We loved the location and the view. We had a relaxing visit and
enjoyed our time in Big Bear and overall found this house to be a
good value despite the problems we had with the cold water, ants,
etc. |

| Susie, Thank you for your review of Narrow Escape. I apologize for the customer service you received from our front desk. We have higher expectations from our staff and I will forward this review to them. Unfortunately, ants are a part of the mountains and they are very hard to manage. Keeping food put away and counters wiped down helps, but they still manage to come around from time to time. I'm sorry you had to view a dead bird. Again, this is the mountains and wildlife is abundant. |

| This was a very clean cabin very close to the lake. The location is just beautiful. Although the view is a little obstructed by some trees, you can still see the lake and it just awesome to sit on the balcony and relax and see the view. Highly recommended. |
