Guest RatingRatingRatingRatingRating Nice Cabin, Nice Location, just a few improvements needed

Overall we had a nice experience with this cabin. The previous reviews were pretty much spot on in terms of what needs to be improved. But lets start with the positives. 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (all the bathrooms are downstairs) gave plenty of room for our two families with 3 kids. Nice fireplace, large screen TV with cable, nice kitchen. The cabin is also a short walk from Big Bear Blvd - which I guess you could view as convenient or a bit too close to the action.

As with the previous reviews, the negatives are as follows: Shower: It is nearly impossible to take a shower as the water is either freezing cold or steaming hot. We had to take baths instead which isn't the end the world but sort of ridiculous that you cant take a shower. Heater - there seems to be no working thermostat as you have cold air or hot air. We ended up just going with hot air in the mornings to warm the place up. But if you had the heating on at night it was unbearable. Either the system isn't working properly, or its not a good heating system. Kitchen items: I don't think this was as bad as the previous reviews made out - but there could have been some newer frying pans, etc. supplied in the kitchen. Dirty floors/rugs: We moved the couch and - OMG - was it dirty. We spent some time sweeping the first day we got there and it was obvious the cleaning crews sort of work around the furniture. The rug was also in need of a good (strong) vacuum.

The main sitting room area is not that inviting, but we moved the furniture around a bit and make it a lot nicer (they would be wise to keep it how we left it - so much more inviting :)

Overall, it was a good experience and we would probably rent there again.

Thank you for your response to our survey. The shower plumbing is fixed. We are sorry this inconvienced you. No one else should have a shower problem. We did place 2 more skillets. Again, thank you for your reply and please come again.

This cabin was at the best location in Big Bear Lake. It was so close to Restaurants, Bars, Markets, and Ski Slopes. It's a very cozy cabin, very clean. Two things that need to be worked on. One, it's the water heater. The water heater needs to be fixed so that it can accommodate 6 people because the last two guests that showered, had to shower in cold water! Oooooh!!! Not Cool...Second, (which might not matter to most), 6 people can not sit on that couch either to watch T.V. or sit around the fireplace. But don't get me wrong if the water heater issue was fixed and the couch remained the same I would definitely consider staying at this cabin again!!!

Very dirty house(I don't know why do they need a management company if nothing is ever cleaned). First of all, the heater was not operating properly, so my children were almost frozen until they fixed it. Then, we found out that the dishwasher wasn't working,(and it was never been fixed during our stay) so we spent our vacation washing the dishes. And finally, we decided to take a shower and the master bedroom shower was unusable, because there was a problem with a pipe....
So if you want to go for a vacation and spend all your time calling and asking for fixtures and problems around the property, you can definitelly go for it....

Big Bear Vacations has a 24 hour maintenance staff to help with issues such as heaters and dishwashers. Sometimes, outside of our control there are problems with these items while guests are staying. We rely on our guests to promptly report these issues so that we can have them fixed immediately. Thank you for responding to our review invitation.

The cabin itself was pleasant and the location was convenient for
trips into the village, to the slopes or getting around Big Bear.

There could have been a few more kitchen supplies for people who
want to eat in and the cleaning crew could have used a little help
prior to out arrival. The floors were a bit dirty, the carpets were in
desperate need of a good vacuum and the common bath
downstairs needs a new shower curtain as the current one was,
well, starting to smell.

The bedrooms are a great size and able to accommodate the said
number of guests quite comfortably. With a small child I
particularly enjoyed the crib already in the home allowing us to
leave the portable at home. The living room was ample size but
seating was limited and the floor plan is quite closed off.

Overall, if you are looking for a place to sleep while you spend the
days on the slopes and the nights in the village, this place will do
quite well. Want something more cozy, welcoming and able to accommodate a more social visit, keep looking.

Thank you for the opportunity to express our enjoyment of this excellent property. We celebrated a belated Christmas, and had a wonderful time. I would recommend this cabin to anyone.

(The following is for your eyes only, not to be included in any review publication: We had issues we think should be addressed. They only detracted a little in our overall enjoyment, but were a problem.
1)The kitchen faucet was loose, without an aerator, and a major hassle.
2)The heater was either too hot or too cold. No one was able to adjust it to a moderate temp. It was either on (too hot) or off.
3)Many doors would not shut, including the bathroom off the back porch.
4)The kitchen floor was covered with something sticky, but the mop in the closet fell apart when we tried to use it.
5)Everyone felt the kitchen was extremely under-supplied...no baking ware, mixing/serving bowls, decent pots and pans.
6)Hulk Hogan would have trouble opening the back door!
7)The floor under the pull-out couch was filthy and had childrens' toys left there.
8)The hot water control in the middle shower needs to be fixed. One of our group scalded her foot as it doesn't behave normally.
9)The promised barbeque was buried out in the yard under feet of snow (we were lucky to find it)and we never did find any utensils for it. It should be left on the front or back porch.
10)You might want to state that linens are only supplied for the beds, that if you needed to use the couch or futon, bring your own.
Hope this helps.

The cabin is beautiful both inside and out. If the following issues were rectified, it would be a wonderful property:

It was impossible to take a shower.
- The hot water in one bathroom made terrible noise and went from very hot to very cold while trying the shower.
- The hot water in the other shower was inoperative.

It was impossible to cook the dinner which I had planned.
- There was no microwave safe bowls in which to cook.
- There was no baking pan for the oven.
- The skillets were so scratched that the silicon coating came off on the food.

The rental agency: Big Bear Vacations has way too many rules. The only thing we were not required to do was make the beds. Everything else was required or we would incur a $25 charge for each of the following:

- Wash all dishes and put them away.
- Make sure the thermostat was set to 50 degrees before we left.
- Make sure all windows were closed and locked.
- Take all garbage to one of two remote locations.

Next time I will stay somewhere with maid service. I don’t mind cooking, but I don’t like having to clean on vacation. Also, I like hot showers when I have been in the snow all day.

I rented this property for my family vacation during the Thanksgiving Holiday.
We were having a great time until we were interupted by San Bernardino
County Citizens on Patrol (COP). They told me that the property owners
requested extral patrol and that no one was supposed to be on the property.
I am a police officer and identified myself with my badge and police
identification card. I explained to the gentlemen that I had rented the
property for the holidays and gave him the name of the rental office. As if I
was lying, he told me that no one told him that the property was being
rented. He also told me that our vehicles were not suppose to be on the
property even though they had the parking passes provided by rental
company displayed on the dash. He then began to write down my license
plates. I felt this was a very rude inconvenience. I can think of several
different ways this gentleman could have handled this situation without
making it a rude inconvenience. The owners of this property should also
notify the COP when the property is being rented if they are going to request
extra patrol.

We had a wonderful time staying at the Pine Tree Cabin. We did have some issues as far as no utensils for the BBQ and no hair-dryer. The pull out beds didn't work. But, for our first experience I still gave it 4 stars. Why? It was clean, the kitchen was well equipped with new appliances. The location was in a great spot. And last but not least the people at Big Bear Vacations were extremely helpful and went above my expectations. We would stay there again.
