Guest Reviews for Tree Tops Villa #888

Just right!
This place was great. We compared reviews from many of the rentals that were within our budget. We wanted a rental that wasnt on the lake or in a very commercial area, and of the ones that fit that profile (and were available) this one seemed to have the best reviews. The place was clean and the spa freshly serviced (though we didnt even use it), but the all rooms had a noticeable cigarette smoke odor (which we reported immediately). The central heat only really heated the upstairs, which wasn't ideal, and there were rooms downstairs with no power (though all the fuses were on in the breaker box). We also reported that there were bags of trash in the driveway when we arrived and these were picked up later that evening. We were able to cook frozen pizzas and breakfast using what was available, and all in all this was what we had hoped for. We would return here again, and hopefully will! More...

fit the bill, look out for kinks
My wife and I expected a place with privacy, a view, a working hot tub, and fireplace, as per the manager's description. There was absolutely no disappointment as to these priorities. Actually, we loved it. Especially if we hear that some updates happen we'd rent this property again.
To other travelers and it's worth mentioning that there are three flights of stairs from parking to the main living area. Good exercise for us but will be a problem for those with physical limitations.
To the management we can comment that some updates to this property are in order. Furnishings and trim are well worn. Gentle lighting would be both effective and cheap, by that I mean at least having all light bulbs working, especially over icy stairs, maybe add some dimmers inside. Food service ware was a bit skimpy, I'm sure the local thrift store can solve this for a few bucks, we could have used some wine glassware.
A greater investment that we might suggest to the owners is a roof/awning over the hot tub deck area. There was freezing rain at night during our stay but we jumped in the hot tub anyhow. It was kind of fun. However, the experience would be improved if people could tub and maybe even BBQ on the deck despite inclement weather.
Big Bear Vacations is a professional management outfit, we had no trouble checking in or out. Often a freebie, we noted that there was a late checkout fee, stay past 11AM and it will cost you a few bucks. This was still worth it for us.

Cozy Cabin in the sky
Cute and cozy little cabin in the sky with everything you need for a secluded
mountain weekend. The hot tub had been serviced the day before our arrival
and was hot! The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. The TV
had cable so we could watch college football. The location was convenient to
everything we wanted to do--hiking and visiting the village.
In short--we loved it. The only downsides was one loose stair and railing
coming up to the front door that you had to be aware of and the beds were not
too comfortable--but admittedly we are hard to please when it comes to beds.
This has to be one of the best weekend bargains in Big Bear and the service
from Big Bear Vacations was OUTSTANDING! More...
