Vacation Rental Description

This beautiful, three-level Arts and Crafts style log cabin is located on a ridge 300 yards above the Blue Ridge Parkway and only five miles from the BILTMORE ESTATE or downtown Asheville. Take a walk down Lady Slipper Lane directly behind ELKHORN CABIN, hike to The Land to Sea Trail from the cabin, and conveniently drive to local Asheville galleries, antique shops, and restaurants. Or view spectacular sunsets and visit the artist/owner's home and Soli Deo Gloria Studio, which is near by. The mountain-laurel stairway, slate tiling, beautiful oriental rugs, and the many fine Craftsman details truly make ELKHORN CABIN a work of art. And the restful sounds of a fountain, and the redwood sauna (steam optional), will truly RESTORE YOUR SOUL. The cabin has three bedrooms and two and a half baths, and a fully equipped kitchen. You have the option of indoor dining, screened-in outdoor dining, or dining around the fire-pit for marshmallows or a wiener roast. The loft has a TV lounge and the daylight basement has a big-screen TV, ping-pong table, and game area. And if you can't leave your work at home, the Elkhorn Cabin has high speed Internet access, both wireless and ethernet. Elkhorn Cabin is named after Sons of the (Elkhorn) River by owner Norm Bomer and recognizes the recent reintroduction of elk into Great Smoky Mountain National Park west of Asheville. Elhorn Cabin was an incredile family getaway. Our two families stayed in this serene home and enjoyed every minute. Perched above the Blue Ridge Parkway with parkway access w/in 2 minutes. Downtown Asheville 5 mins away.

What didn't we do? Asheville for dinner, Biltmore House and village, golf, whitewater rafting, Chiminey Rock, Sliding Rock, mountain biking in Pisgah NF and college campus visit to Appalacian State in Blowing Rock. This was a perfect centrally located "home" base. We needed to take a vacation after the vacation.

Mornings were crisp & clear for walks. Evenings were relaxing on the shaded back deck. Whether we were playing a spirited game of ping pong or a board/card game or grilling out in the evenings, it was a great family experience.

Be sure to take the gracious owners up on their offer to view the sunset from thier deck. It is absolutely beautiful.

Oh, and this is no "cabin" per se it is a very new, rustic log home personally & impeccably decorated by the loving and spiritually caring owners.

Highly recommended.

This was a near "perfect" vacation. The cabin was extraordinarily clean and comfortable; the scenery breath-taking; the proximity to attractions easy. We will visit again!!!

This cabin was perfect for my family of four with two almost grown kids. My son took the upper lever and my daughter the basement, giving each of them privacy and their own bathroom and TV. My husband and I had the master on the main floor with a third sitting area that had a wonderful fireplace. The decor was excellent, comfortable and very well maintained. I loved the art, many of which was created by the artist-owner. In fact, one of the most enjoyable aspects of this cabin is that the owners live next door and they love to meet their guests. They will share the sunsets from their back deck and give you a tour of their studio. They are wonderful hosts.

If we return to Ashville, we would definately rent this cabin again. We frequently rent cabins on vacations and this is one of the best ones we have found.

We absolutely loved the cabin. We had a mini family reunion and all 3 generations loved Elkhorn. This is a wonderful cabin and we are hoping to one day go back. The sunsets from the owner's home (just up the road) are spectacular and the cabin itself has all the comforts of home.
