we have rented cabins up and down the east coast, we much prefer to rent a home than use hotels for vacations. this was our honeymoon, and because of an unexpected, but very exciting pregnancy, we had to put our active New Zealand honeymoon plans on hold, and opted for the beautiful Asheville and the rental of a cabin for 9 days.
the cabin was lovely - very nicely decorated. one of the reasons we rent cabins, and more "luxury" cabins at that, is about experience and comfort. whilit wasn't as secluded as we expected, it was in more of a really spacious neighborhood on a steep hill and didn't really have the total privacy we were looking for. the firepit was at the end of the peoples driveway that were across the way, so it was felt too awkward to have a fire. it wasn't the owners fault, we just had a different picture in our heads. also, do not attempt to find this cabin at night. it is very difficult to find the driveway in the dark, and there is no turning around, only backing upon a really steep hill - totally our fault, bad planning, we know better. LOL.
We cook a lot, and really enjoy it, and in a luxury cabin, we were expecting more as far as kitchenware - the basics were definitely there, but no extras and definitely not quality cookware or appliances.
this might sound a bit nit-picky, but as far as tv there were two options - top floor loft bedroom area, small tv with only a VHS player or basement game room with an old big screen with a bad picture and a dvd player. the middle floor, with the kitchen and the gas stove, which is definitely the most comfortable/cozy area, didnt have a television.
also, bring your own dish washing soap, detergent, sponges, paper towels, etc... little things like that were not provided.
Very nice cabin, nice setting, but for the price, missing a bit on the details and not quite secluded enough for our taste. |

Tucked away in a hill outside of Asheville, NC, the Elkhorn Cabin felt like home from the moment we stepped in. It's a warm and welcoming home and has all the amenities you may need such as BBQ Grill, hi-speed Internet access, a well-appointed kitchen and a ping-pong table! Personal touches from the hosts like own-labeled wine and soap made it even more welcoming and were greatly appreciated.
The cabin is conveniently located to downtown Asheville and the highway is minutes away. I can't recommend this place enough. It was a home away from home and a terrific place to stay. |

| Since we are road bikers and the parkway entrance was close it was an ideal location. Along with that the location ideal for accessing Asheville. The cabin was well maintained with great furnishings. It was nice having a washer and dryer. The screened in porch was great to have - kept bugs and rain out. Did not care for the king size bed in an open loft. That area should have been a room with an option for blinds on the windows in that area. That was the only drawback. The setting was private but not isolated. Good for a secure feeling. Recommend it highly. |

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at Elkhorn Cabin. It provides a
beautiful and relaxing setting. All kinds of little details were covered
by the owners, including a Christmas tree (obviously we were there
during the holidays)! The kitchen was well-appointed and easy to
cook in. There was plenty of space for 3 couples and one child. We
were close to the Biltmore and enjoyed the chance to tour there. We
would definitely recommend this place...and hope to return ourselves
some day. |

| My wife and I, my son his wife and two children (age 7-11) had a great Christmas at the cabin. Curled up each morning around the LG fireplace, with coffee and/or coco was relaxing and conforting. A well needed break from work and the "usual" Christmas holiday hassel. Played the tourist: Chimney Rock, Biltmore Estate, Grove Park Inn for Christmas eve dinner, played golf (9.3-12.2) at Reems Creek (super course), drove out to Maggie Vally golf course, toured several other areas. Best part was quite time for reading and doing absolutly nothing important. Next visit will be in the late spring early summer. |

| We enjoyed the house. It was lovely to look at with very quiet surroundings. There wasn't much of a view, other than the woods. Very relaxing atmosphere. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to cook with. I would recommend it mostly for a couple only , or a couple with children. The house does not muffle noise well. I would not want to drive to this house on a snowy road. It is really at the top! The distance to Ashville is not bad at all. |

Elhorn Cabin was an incredile family getaway. Our two families stayed in this serene home and enjoyed every minute. Perched above the Blue Ridge Parkway with parkway access w/in 2 minutes. Downtown Asheville 5 mins away.
What didn't we do? Asheville for dinner, Biltmore House and village, golf, whitewater rafting, Chiminey Rock, Sliding Rock, mountain biking in Pisgah NF and college campus visit to Appalacian State in Blowing Rock. This was a perfect centrally located "home" base. We needed to take a vacation after the vacation.
Mornings were crisp & clear for walks. Evenings were relaxing on the shaded back deck. Whether we were playing a spirited game of ping pong or a board/card game or grilling out in the evenings, it was a great family experience.
Be sure to take the gracious owners up on their offer to view the sunset from thier deck. It is absolutely beautiful.
Oh, and this is no "cabin" per se it is a very new, rustic log home personally & impeccably decorated by the loving and spiritually caring owners.
Highly recommended.

This cabin was perfect for my family of four with two almost grown kids. My son took the upper lever and my daughter the basement, giving each of them privacy and their own bathroom and TV. My husband and I had the master on the main floor with a third sitting area that had a wonderful fireplace. The decor was excellent, comfortable and very well maintained. I loved the art, many of which was created by the artist-owner. In fact, one of the most enjoyable aspects of this cabin is that the owners live next door and they love to meet their guests. They will share the sunsets from their back deck and give you a tour of their studio. They are wonderful hosts.
If we return to Ashville, we would definately rent this cabin again. We frequently rent cabins on vacations and this is one of the best ones we have found. |

| Upon arriving at the Elkhorn Cabin, we were pleasantly surprised to see that the pictures online simply didn't do it justice! It is absolutely gorgeous with porches and decks all around, plenty of outdoor seating, an open floorplan inside making conversation pleasant and easy while preparing meals, relaxing in the living room, or even sitting upstairs in the loft. Downstairs is a finished basement with a sauna for decompressing after a day of touring the Biltmore or exploring downtown Asheville. The only regret I have is that we never made it over to Norm's to catch the sunset on their deck - we will be sure to next time! |
