Escape from the hectic energy of our modern times! Enjoy the peace and relaxation that Bear Wallow offers, while still being conveniently close to area attractions. Gorgeous views day or night await you in this lovely mountain chalet. Sitting at an elevation of 4000 ft, Bear Wallow boasts 70-mile long-range mountain views. Enjoy three levels of quiet privacy - the main level on the second floor includes a kitchen and sitting area with all new hardwood floors. One bedroom is tucked away on the first floor below, while another bedroom is up on the third floor loft. Enjoy the small game table with foosball, ping-pong & billiards, as well as other games. Bear Wallow is located between Asheville and Chimney Rock Park. We'd just like you to know ahead of time that the road to our home includes a short, but somewhat steep, gravel section. The road is always well-maintained, but we feel that guests who are not familiar with the mountains should be aware of what to expect! We have every confidence that you will love the fabulous, breathtaking view when you arrive at our mountaintop location. During the winter season, a four wheel drive vehicle is necessary due to frequent inclement weather.

I am sure this property would have been nice had we actually gotten to stay there.
Unfortunately my wife's grandmother passed away and we were unable to take our vacation in the mountains.
I was honestly appauled that a death in the family was not reason enough to allow someone to reschedule or refund them their money. |

We are very sorry for your loss. Please allow us to explain our cancellation and refund policies, which are also included in our Vacation Rental Agreement. <br />

Travel Insurance is automatically included when you secure a reservation online, as you did. We received your online reservation and you had declined Travel Insurance since you had to manually remove this additional charge from your reservation. When a guest cancels within 30 days of their arrival date, we do our best to re-rent the property to another guest so that we can refund your money. If we can not re-book the property for your dates, Carolina Mornings cannot provide a refund. If Travel Insurance has been purchased, the guest can file a claim with the insurance company documenting the cause for the cancellation. As in your case, if the insurance was purchased, the insurance company would refund you all of your monies, minus the cost of the Travel Insurance. We make every attempt to explain these policies to each guest who books a reservation. We wish there was more we could do for you, as our first priority is providing a positive experience, making all of our policies transparent and clear to the public. <br />

Unfortunately, without purchasing the Travel Insurance there was nothing we could offer to you. We understand that you offered the property to friends as a very generous anniversary gift, and we hope they enjoyed their stay. <br />

| Clean, well furnished home probably sleeps 8 to 10. Up an unpaved road to mountain top views. Isolated but Asheville and all major attractions are close by |

Relaxing Getaway |

The cabin is beautiful. I had some issues after the 1st day because it had not been cleaned but Carolina rentals issued me a credit and offered to send someone to clean up as soon as they found out. This cabin is a little away from the main road and it gets pretty dark at night so that is something to remember. Overall, it was a v relaxing getaway.
The basement floor can use some general cleanup/updating. |
