Inlet Pointe - Idealic setting with unbeatable weather.

Multiple decks and hammocks surround Bivens. Kids love the pool table and crows nest. The bedrooms are nicely decorated and have ample room. The beach and creek access are top notch. The Inlet Pointe pool is terrific. Every day the whole family enjoys both the ocean and the pool - both a minute walk's away.

Rent bikes (call ahead - about $35/bike per week) each morning cycle up the smooth, hard beach to Huntington State Park where bike and pedestrian paths wind through pine trees and an estuary system filled with gorgeous wildlife - egrets, alligators and turtles among them. Be sure to look out at the ocean because you will spot dolphins on these early morning rides. Continue up the tree lined bike path to Murrell's Inlet or head home to Bivens on the same bike path. If you aren't a biker, you can also drive up to Huntington State Park - and it is really worth it - a short drive too.

Take in a Pelican's game one night while you are there. We cook in - the kitchen can be frustrating with its hopelessly eclectic cabinetry organization (hundreds of cooking knives - none any good), but you can't beat the delicious shrimp and fish from Murrell's Inlet fish markets. Be sure to ask for local NC or SC shrimp and fish - you would be surprised... Also take a left when you come out of Inlet Pointe and up highway 17 a little ways on the right is the Krazy Krab shack. She runs a wonderful all local produce stand and tiny (one table!) diner. Do try the SC melons, corn, blueberries and tomatoes.

Do take your kids crabbing on the Bivens creek dock. It is shady and cooler than the ocean, and children delight in attaching a raw chicken neck to a crab trap and yanking it up. If you can, rent or bring kayaks to explore the creek islands. On foot in the creek do wear water shoes to protect tender feet from razor sharp oyster shell cuts. More...

Great Home

This house should be called the hammock house. There are lots of great porches with hammocks. The room is well decorated and has great views. The elevator was great for my mother who has knee problems. More...

Fabulous Family Beach House in Premier Community

This house is the perfect family vacation for those looking to relax with little ones. Everything you need is literally steps away - ocean, boat/fishing dock, pool, playground.

The house itself is lovely. If I were to build my own I would want it modelled on this one. It is a very comfortable and well-appointed family home. Everything is well-thought out and the views of the salt marsh and ocean are spectacular. Walking out to the dock or up to the crow's nest at sunset with an ice cream or a glass of wine was the perfect way to end every day.

The gated community it is in features three pools and a playground, and the beaches are never crowded, except perhaps for Fourth of July weekend. I honestly wish I had something bad to say so I could keep this spot all to myself! More...
