We had a good time staying here over the Labor Day weekend (myself and two friends). The cottage is really cute and the owners have obviously had a good time decorating it with kitchy little items and bright colors. The kitchen is well-equipped and has pretty much everything you could need. The beds were pretty comfortable but I was told that the mattress in the back bedroom was too soft for my friend's taste. The location is great...just three blocks back from the ocean. Bring your own beach chairs unless you plan to rent them. We brought ours. The only things I would recommend to the owners is better light in the bedrooms... they are very dark for getting dressed, etc. and I would definitely do something with the car port area or back yard. There's really no pretty out door area to sit and lounge. The carport has seating and a table but I thought it was kind of dirty and you are in a carport vs. outside. We would maybe stay again, but I'd rather stay in a cottage that had a better deck or outdoor area. The mermaid people were nice and professional. More...

We had such a great time. The cottage was really cute, exceptionally clean and was well stocked with everything we needed. Castaway exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be back!

This was our first trip to Tybee. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit even though it rained almost every day. The cottage was very well furnished and well maintained. The out door shower was great for getting the beach sand off our little one. We are looking forward to visiting Tybee again. More...

We recently spent a long weekend on Tybee Island. The Castaway cottage
was the perfect place for us. We loved the pictures online and the place was
even better in person. Everything was so comfortable. We just felt like we
could stay there forever. The neighbors were all so friendly too...waving as
they rode by on bikes or saying hello from their front porches. Castaway
was the perfect distance from the beach. Just a couple of blocks made for a
good walk to and front the beach. It was easy to go back and forth
throughout the day. The whole island is so laid back! No one was in a hurry
to go anywhere or do anything...no one seemed to have a care in the world
and the feeling was very contagious!
The service we received from the staff at Mermaid cottages was very
professional and efficient. Everything was just as promised.
I would recommend the Castaway cottage to anyone. I didn't have a
complaint about the place at all!
