Our week on Tybee Island was the perfect end to the summer. The cottage was spacious, beautifully
decorated, and had everything you would need for a comfortable stay. The cottage location couldn't be better. It's a short two block walk to the ocean and "downtown" and also a short 2 block walk to the inlet. We planned this trip as fun way to get our family together. We had four 25-29 year olds with us and they had a great time swimming, fishing, and sea kayaking. They especially liked that they could walk everywhere. Easy drive to beautiful Savannah, where we spent a day as tourists. Ended the week with the Labor Day celebration - great live band and fantastic fireworks over the ocean. Thank you Mermaid Cottages!! Exceeded all of our expectations - we even had perfect weather every day - sunny and in the 80's!

We met friends from Hawaii (who were vacationing in Florida) at Tybee Island because it was a nice even 5 hour drive for both families. We have always loved Savannah and thought the nearby island would be fun for our kids.
Man, were we ever right! We loved the lighthouse, historical buildings and beach! The island is so lovely, as was the delightful '30s guest house we rented. It more than lived up to the charming photos we saw online.
There were plenty of rooms for the three older girls, both sets of parents, and even a small room for our toddler son (with his earlier bedtime and naps!).
The decor was very tasteful...a blend of shabby chic and beach themes. The kitchen was stocked with all that we needed, and the kids loved the front yard and porch.
Mermaid Cottages was able to book us last minute adn even offered a discounted night so we could come down after work and get on the island sooner.
The cottage's location was very convenient to the beach and shops nearby. Our only wish was that it would have been directly on the beach, but since we visited in early Spring, the weather was not right for swimming anyway. Actually the cottage is located at the end of the island that we preferred for the interesting tide pools and sea-life that we found on our beach walks, and we would stay on that end of the island again.
Next time we visit Tybee, we will book with Mermaid Cottages again, and have already recommended them to many friends.

Easy walk to the beach even with kids in tow. Clean rooms, lots of space, nice kitchen and eating area. Colorful, bright and cheery little cottage. We enjoyed its style! Mermaid cleaning staff went out of their way to ensure that no pet hair was left behind by past renters, and I found none! Mermaid management went out of their way to be accommodating. Nice people to work with! Much nicer than staying in a hotel!

My family enjoyed our stay on Tybee Island very much. We live very close to
the Gulf of Mexico, so it was nice to go to the beach on the Atlantic. We
were very impressed with the sand and surf. The restaurants on the Island
were good, but I would highly recommend going into Savannah for some
better dining.

Our cottage, Inlet Breeze, was very nice. It was clean and there was plenty of
room for our family and two sets of grandparents. We enjoyed spending
time together on the front and back porches people watching and playing
cards.

We had some issues with noise from a new club that opened up on the main
drag not far from our cottage. This basically went on for most of our stay,
which made it hard to get a good night sleep. It was so bad, we ended up
leaving a day early. But, Diane was very gracious and did refund our money
for the last night.

From what I understand this problem was taken care of, however, we would
probably stay at another cottage a little further away from the main drag if
we choose to go back.
pin Manager Response: September 14, 2009
thank you Donna- yes, the noise concerns have been soloved- the owners of the restaurant have been very willing to work with us and be good neighbors. And it's a great place to eat, dring and relax close to the cottage!

Inlet Breeze was a nice place to stay. We enjoyed the size of the house since we had 7 kids and 4 adults with us. Plenty of room for everyone. The days were hot and sunny which was great! This was our first trip to Tybee and we truely enjoyed it! There was plenty to do there with the kids... but it was also relaxing for the adults. The only problem we had was no one had cut the grass before we got there and no one cut it while we were there. So it made it difficult for the kids to play outside in the yard.

We all in all a great time was had by all!!

What a perfect locatin! Convenient to all the activities we wanted to do in Savannah and of course so close to all the fun Tybee Island offers, too.

I would recommend the cottage to anyone, but our Girl Scout group had a terrific time staying in the cottage. It really worked out well having the the girls stay in the front bedrooms and they had their own bath and the adults stayed in the Master Bedroom with their own facilities. It was very convenient to have a completely equipped kitchen and laundry facitilities onsite and the rooms were large and airy.

It was a short, less-than-5-minute walk to the beach (turn right out the front door and it's a straigt 2 block walk to sand!). The girls loved that Mylie Cyrus' movie set was right there on the beach the week we were there. The front porch chairs and rockers were perfect for early evening wind down time and the decor was beach-funky and fun! The cottage had everything we needed with an abundance of charm. It's also perfectly located for beach access and Sting Ray's (try the outstanding lobster/crab bisque!) and was in excellent condition with beautiful hardwood floors!

The only issues we had were noisy backyard neighbors at 3 am one morning, but it only happened once and the local police handled it promptly. And there was a question of who was suppose to be parking at the cottage. It seems the owner lets employees of other businesses he has use the parking in front of the cottage as long as they ask the residents. Unfortunately we were never asked and had no idea who was leaving their car in our parking spots. In the end it all worked out.

Overall it's a great cottage in a great location, on a great island, and we had great fun!

We loved the cottage and its location. Although the weather didn't cooperate, we still had a great time. We ate and shopped our way through the week in spite of the cold temps, gale-force winds and blowing rain.

Six women stayed comfortably though 2 bathrooms required some scheduling. The coffeemaker worked but very slowly.....same with the microwave. I would recommend replacing both. Our power was out for several hours but we worked around it, too. The bathroom rugs had not been washed so we did that first. Even though it has wood floors, they could use a good cleaning as well. The TV remote did not work.

All in all, it was a good fit for us. The price was good and we spent many hours on the screened porch watching the rain. On our last night (Thursday) there were gunshots from behind the house. We didn't even attempt to check it out but kept the doors locked and blinds closed.

What a wonderful week! Our trip celebrated our youngest son's graduation from high school and we had a great time! We vacationed with our entire family and had plenty of room for the 9 of us. The screened in porch was a blessing from the heat and provided a fantiastic place to eat, visit, and play games. Many exciting games of rummy and euchre were played on that porch! The rooms were airy and comfortable and the washer and dryer were a real blessing! The kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed preparing meals together there. Being able to bring our family pet, a 10 year old lab, was one of biggest perks for us. "Blue" travels with us all over the United States and having a fenced yard for him to play in was a huge treat for both him and us. And being within walking distance from the beach and main streets was a real plus for the entire family.

We had an awesome experience and would definitely rent Inlet Breeze again.

We had a girls weekend at this cottage. It is very, very cute and a great space! Walk to beach was less than 5 minutes. Beach was PERFECT and GORGEOUS. Great space in kitchen, plenty of room to cook. We loved the front porch with swings as well as the screened in side porch. Will advise it says it sleeps 11 but the front two bedrooms have full beds which were really tight for 2 ladies. Probably okay for a couple though. We cooked all weekend, really just a subway and bar(ish) food right around the house. Enjoyed the weekend though and worth the price!!!!

We spent a our 2009 Spring Break in this wonderfully relaxing beach cottage. We made it a multi-generational vacation bringing along grandparents and even friends for our teens. This cottage is much roomier than the photos can show. With it's high ceilings and open plan, this large group still had more than ample space. The decor was very "beachy" and cheery, but with relaxing pastel tones. The location is perfect, walking distance to attractions, restaurants, the pier, and even a more private beach on the back river. The teens found the nearby bike paths a great way to expend some energy and explore Tybee. The beach access close to the cottage had ramps, which were perfect for the grandparents. They also thoroughly enjoyed the morning sun and rocking chairs on the sunny front porch. This cottage is a perfect combination of a great location, wonderful decor and furnishings, and all the comforts of home to make any family vacation a wonderfully relaxing way for families to reconnect.

When we arrived at this welcoming little cottage it was like coming home after a long trip. This is the first time that we stayed in a vacation rental home instead of a hotel -- and it was perfect. The house was centrally located for a walk to the beach or a walk through the neighborhood. The children especially liked the close proximity to the ice cream shoppe. We'd definitely recommend this house - especially if you're bringing children or pets. The whole town is very pet friendly if everyone does their part to clean after their pets. We were able to walk everywhere unless we were leaving the island or sightseeing. The children enjoyed playing frisbee out on the lawn and we could watch from the front porch swing or the screened in room. We'll be back as soon as we can schedule a quick get away. The only advice I can give is---be prepared to relax in the cozy, comfortable cottage.

I arrived in Savannah for the birth of our granddaughter on Wednesday searching for any place to stay that would allow pets (I have an 8 pound dachshund). I was told that there was an ordinance in the city that would not allow pets. I checked all of metro Savannah, Skidaway Island (office was closed) and found myself on Tybee Island. I checked a hotel on the island, that also did not allow pets, but the desk clerk was kind enough to provide a number for Mermaid Cottages. When I called I was lucky enough to have Diane answer the phone. She was happy to help and also provided an 800 number. She told me she would be happy to place me in a rental property, but was trying to help me find something closer to the hospital, however, when I called I was told there was no where in Savannah other than personal rentals, that would allow pets. I called Diane back and she placed us in Inlet Breeze. A delightful "home", not just a cottage. We were not able to spend as much time there as we would have liked, but did spend an evening grilling out after the birth of our beautiful granddaughter. Thank you Diane! You eased my panic when I thought I might have to sleep in the car for 4 days! Your website has been saved in my "favorites" for visits in the future. Again, thank you and I have already recommended Mermaid Cottages to friends and family!

The only downside was the first night (Friday) there was a bar with a live band that was close enough to get loud noise and a few intoxicated people walking by. That was the only night that was an issue.

The cottage is perfect for a family with a pet. The yard is nice and fenced and the cottage spacious enough for everyone.

Great restaurants, shops, beach and attractions. Just a very laid back, I'm on vacation kind of place.

The Inlet Breeze house and working with Diane at Mermaid Cottages was the icing on the cake.

When I told Diane of our handicap accessibility needs, she knew right where we needed to be and she was right.

The house was wonderful and fit our need to a "T". Just a short walk to everything. The house was clean and cute as it could be.

Diane and Mermaid cottages took the stress out of finding the right place and made sure all our needs were provided for.

If you ever get the chance to go to Tybee Island, Inlet breeze or to work with Diane setting up the right vacation for you .... DO IT!!!
