Guest Reviews for Combination of great location and ambiance - #1025

Great location, plenty of room!
Having been to Savannah multiple times we were very aware of the location
of this home. We wanted to be close to Bay and River Streets and this was
perfect. We barely used our car, being close enough to walk to Broughton
and City Market also.
The home was nicely decorated with everything we needed in the kitchen.
Rooms were cozy, though a little cold (it was New Year's), make sure you
have an extra blanket for sleeping on the bottom floor.
Another nice thing about this house is the off street parking behind the
house. If you've been to Savannah you know that parking is a hot
commodity.
The house is near a bevy of great restaurants so you can simply walk down
the streets and make an excellent choice, no matter the time of day.
Since this is located at the east end of Bay, it was also easy to head down to
Tybee without having to cut through downtown traffic.
We are looking forward to staying here again and contemplating renting the
entire beautiful house to bring our extended families with us. The upstairs
and opposite side are equally as gorgeous and unique.

Great location
The location of the home was perfect for hanging out in and around historic
downtown Savannah, within walking distance to lots of shops and
restaurants and practically right on the river.
The house itself was pretty nice. It's a very old home, so the floors are
sloped here and there and some of the doors don't shut easily, but that kind
of adds to the charm. We stayed in one of the downstairs split-level units
(bedrooms downstairs). Since we had five people, we had to use the sofa
bed on the main floor. It was a very uncomfortable bed, and turned out to
be a very loud place to sleep, as the people above us were very active until
after 2 am. Being such an old house, you could hear every step and word
spoken by the people in the upstairs apt. It was pretty miserable, but you
couldn't hear them in the downstairs bedrooms. I'd definitely recommend
this place for anyone, but would say only stay if you need 1 or 2 bedrooms.
I wouldn't use the main level to sleep.
The staff was nice and gave us all the info we needed.

Lots of room in a great location but needed cleaning.
When we arrived we actually didn't recognize the home because of the extensive amount of exterior work the house needs. There was peeling paint and rotting wood and we thought we were in the wrong place...we actually asked at a business across the street if it was the correct house! Once we were inside the house was fine. The upper level has the kitchen, dining area, a half bath, and the living room and the lower level has a bath and the two bedrooms. I was pleased that the door to the stairs to go down to the bedrooms locked so that I didn't have to worry about my young son trying to go down the stairs by himself. The amount of room was great but it seemed as if the house had not been fully cleaned in quite some time. My son walked on the hardwoods in bare feet and his feet were almost black with dirt by bed time. The bathrooms had not been cleaned, either, as evidenced by the rings in the toilet and the long, dark hairs that were stuck to surfaces (they couldn't be mine...I have short, blonde hair). My husband actually cleaned the kitchen before we left, so it was cleaner at the end of our stay than at the beginning. The location of the home is excellent...you can easily walk to River Street or to the squares and shopping areas. We only drove to dinner one night and walked the rest of the time. There is a small square right down the block that my son loved running around, so that was perfect for getting his energy out after dinner.
Best features:Historical characteristics (exposed brick and rock, hardwoods), location, plenty of room
Worst features: Exterior needs extensive repair, overall cleanliness of home
Note: If you plan on doing your own cooking in this home you need to take your own cook wear. I tried to make cinnamon rolls and had to use a muffin tin because there are very few pans to cook with. Also, there are only three coffee mugs, so if you have several coffee drinkers you will need to bring the necessary items. More...

A place ever worthy of staying, for your vacation in Savannah.
Couldn't expect anything more or less to what was already presented to us up front. First, the ease of transaction from the very beginning to the end. Both the owners and the Savannah Getaways were so accomodating to our needs. The house is very well maintained and clean and we just can't ask for anything more on the location. It is very accessible, safe environment, and in the center of where we need to be; whether to roam around town & the riverfront, especially for that week of the wedding. The whole family enjoyed their stay. Thank you! More...
