A Nice Surprise

I have never ski'd before, but my husband did prior to our marriage. What a surprise when he came home from a charity golf outing saying he bid/won a silent auction for a condo in steamboat... my thought was OMG! After spending a fortune on ski clothes (you have to look right!), getting the kids and pets settled with my parents, us and another couple were off to Colorado. We flew into Denver, and had a nice easy drive up to steamboat (no extra baggage fees on southwest and only $59 each way from Indianapolis). Upon arriving to the condo, access into the parking garage with our pre-delivered keys to our house, gave us exactly what we needed, a place to park the car until we could occupy the unit because it had been rented up until the day of our arrival. Its a very short walk to Gondola Square and all of the ski amenities and some restaurants (we really liked the Mexican across the pathway heading towards the ski resort). Once we got into the unit, it was very nice with the gas fireplace, basic amenities and "starter" packages of some items that helped until you went to the store. In the bathrooms they even had REALLY NICE razors from a sample pack if you chose to use them. The shuttle back and forth to the resort was exactly as described. Spa was good and hot, plenty of towels, nice access via the garage so only a few steps from door to spa entrance. Although we will be gone to a wedding during next year's golf outing the husband is already recruiting who is going to do our bidding for us so we get this condo again. Thanks so much to the owners... I might get to use my new Spyder ski jacket again after all! Would recommend this condo to any of my best friends. Book early our date choices were limited. More...

Very comfortable condo

This is the second time we have rented a condo through Kim.
Her service and understanding of our requirements is excellent and nothing is too difficult for her.
The condo is very well appointed, all conveniences and very comfortable.
Just bring yourselves, your ski gear and a camera. That is all you need.
A short stroll to the gondola or private shuttle makes it very convnient.
Condo gets a bit warm on sunny days but it is pretty easy to get the place cool in winter.
We have booked the condo to stay in again next year so it must be OK. More...

Great fishing, skiing and manager (Kim)

The unit was spacious, clean, and very nicely appointed with exceptional attention to detail. Lots of windows. Four of us (two grown ups, two teenagers)were very comfortable in the rooms. Some days we walked to the slopes, and some days we took the shuttle. The Terraces Shuttle was very responsive, and the drivers were informative and helpful with restaurant and activity recomendations. It was warm the first two days so we fished right in town and caught two beautiful brown trout. We called the manager, Kim, a couple of times with logistical questions and she was very helpful. Check in and Check out were a breeze. We would definitely return. More...

Return to our mountain home

Terraces 2 is an exceptional place to stay. Very well equipped with many extra for convenience. The shuttle of courses makes this easy to get anywhere. We love the first week of February since its Winter Carnival time when you can really see how the town comes alive with its rich traditions of community. We've been coming to Steamboat for about 10 years running and have stayed here most of those times. Kim Filler is an extraordinary 'inn keeper'. You can't go wrong booking through her. More...

Room to spare

We stayed about a week with 2 young children (ages 2 and 7) and it was our first trip to Steamboat. We used a shuttle service to get from the airport 45 min away. Everything was clean and at least as nice as advertised when we arrived, and the goodie bags were a welcomed touch.

It was nice to have the kitchen and all the common areas we might not have had in a hotel so that we could take things at an easier pace. We bought groceries at the market within walking distance so we could have breakfast and snacks. We also used the pool and hot tub a couple of times.

The only warning I would give people is that it's a bit far to walk to the base of the ski resort for little kids. We used a sled or carried them. For adults and older kids, it's no problem. I recommend using a locker at the hill to store as much as possible.

Overall, we would definitely stay there again. Thanks!

Manager Response to jpmg2

Thanks for the review. Glad you enjoyed the condo. The Terraces comes with a free private shuttle that picks you up and drops you at the gondola transit center. I was surprised to hear you walked since you did have small kids.

For an adult, the walk it only 225 yards or the private shuttle will drive you.

Hope to see you back in Steamboat again soon.
