Vacation Rental Description

166 South Campbell Ave Tybee Island GA 31328. This little 1940's cottage has the orignal walls, heart of pine floors and screened porch and dock. Lovingly decorated and filled with her treasures, Pearl ( the yellow lab) and Katie ( her human) can't be here year round which is why they loan out their cottage to visitors. Yes, all pets are welcome but keep in mind there is not a fenced in yard. The cottage features 4 rooms- a living room, bedroom ( 1 queen bed and 1 twin bed) a cottage kitchen ( no dishwasher and no washer and dryer) and a "under the hula moon" screened porch. And that 5th room is a dock on the tidal creek, deep enough in high tide to kayak from and for your dogs to jump in the water. Yes- this is the only place on Tybee where dogs can actually be in the water without fear of a ticket! 2 AC window units, high speed internet and wifi, cable TV and a HUGE CD collection. South Campbell Ave is an almost private street ending at the Horsepen Creek gated community- so very few people are on this street. The cottage sits on the east side of the street, but nothing is across the west side of the street so sunset watching is a private show. This Lot also belongs to this cottage

My 11 year old son and I stayed here for a weekend and had a great time. Perfect spot for us marsh/creek/nature lovers. Lots of wildlife and places to watch and enjoy. Very comfortable beds with great views and marsh sounds. No traffic and no noise pollution. We will definately be back.

The house was really nice. It is small but great for 2 people. The evenings on the marsh are quiet and we had everything there we needed. Being close to shopping & dining was a plus. We will stay at a mermaid cottage again. Thanks for a good time!

... just what the doctor ordered. I enjoyed the cottage for a few days of solo R&R and it was just what I needed. With a stack of books, I spent most of my time on the dock and the screened porch. I especially loved the chaise on the porch - I napped there every day! I appreciated the rustic charm of the cottage and the friendly and helpful Mermaid Cottages staff.

As soon as my mom and I (and our two little dogs) arrived we were excited! It was so cute from the outside. LOVE the screened in porch - so relaxing! Honestly we did not even have a chance to enjoy the deck (by the dock) but we walked out onto it- and were amazed to see how spacious it was, and we loved the huge dining table. The beds were great - very comfortable, everything we could have needed/wanted was provided for us. Even the neighbors were very kind- and welcoming!!The cottage was very dog friendly - we loved the two big dog bowls in the kitchen - and the picture of Pearl :) We will go back and would only stay at Mermaid Cottage.

I have always loved Tybee Island. For many years I had the pleasure of living
in Charleston, so I often visited the area for the day, or a few days stay.
When I moved to Tennessee, I was so sad to leave Tybee behind.

I am so glad we chose my beloved Tybee for our honeymoon, and I am even
more pleased that we chose Fiddler On the Creek for our stay. We loved the
dock, the screen in porch and WiFi to keep up with friends and family. We
loved the location of our cottage, the decor and pretty much everything
about it! (well everything but the dreaded shower. That shower is terrible.
Really, you feel like your showering in a port-a-potty!!! Take a week in the
winter, close the Fiddler, call Bath Fitters, and get a real tub/shower in
there STAT!! Also, we were greeted by flying water bugs gnat things every
morning in the shower til we covered the shower drain at night.)

We WILL be back for another stay as soon as we can, and we will be staying
with Mermaid Cottages. I am spoiled and so is my new hubby!

This message is directly from the owners- Katie & Pearl: Pearl and I are so very glad that you and your husband chose our Tybee Island cottage for your honeymoon stay!
And, we agree that the bathroom needs to be upgraded - - and have plans to do so as soon as possible (even in it?s humble condition guests are willing to book the cottage because of the other unique characteristics you noted) This September a new bath will be unveiled, including an attached outdoor shower. So, we invite you back, time after time and again.

For me this place was perfect. I have friends on Tybee that lived within walking distance. I have absolutely nothing but nice things to say about the cottage. I was expecting it to be a little smaller based on the pictures, but it was very cozy. When I got there the cable TV was out (low cable knocked down by a truck), but the problem was fixed quickly, and I didn't really miss it. Having wireless internet was good enough to check the weather.

Don't take this next part as a negative, just a heads up. You are within walking distance of the main strip on the island, but it is a long walk. Bikes would be a good addition to your travel plans. If you don't want the exercise, the main drag is only a couple minutes drive. Note that there is basically no free public parking on the island, so make sure you pay for the meters.

Nothing beats sitting on the dock in the morning with a cup of coffee, watching one of the local cats play with a little lizard or crab, listening to the birds on the tidal creek. I'll be back.

Fiddler on the Creek was a great match for us. The lovely and relaxing evenings are beautiful on the marsh. We loved low tide best, except when it was high tide. Wonderful to be there with our terrier too. Easy bike rides and friendly neighbors. We wish we had more time to stay.

The descriptions and photos @mermaidcottages.com were accurate and helpful and everything was as expected. Easy arrangements and an easy experience. We're sure we'll be back soon.

I highly recommend any property that Mermaid manages. We have stayed in quite a few, and all of them were very charming and have their own unique personalities. Also, there is no one nicer than Diane and her staff when making arrangements for your vacation :)

The cottage and location provided the perfect get-a-way from the
drab and dreary skies of NW Ohio. The cottage is an eclectic little
seaside bungalow, brimming with personality, comfort, and an
awesome deck protruding over a quiet marsh with a spectacular
view of the full moonrise every night! The bedroom was snuggly
and had tons of windows to view the same moon! Each morning
greeted with me a spectacular sunrise after a short walk to the
ocean. After hitting the sand, the walking continued on an endless
expanse of beach with the warm sun rising on the Atlantic.
Returning after a 5 mile walk, I whipped up breakfast in the
comfortable kitchen, featuring all of the amenities of home. In fact,
each morning I was greeted by a neighborhood cat who ran to the
fridge, waiting for a treat -- just like home! The cottage even
provided teas, coffees, and microwave popcorn that we popped up
one evening and munched while we watched the moonrise over the
Atlantic. After a day trip to Savannah, we returned to the comforts
of the cottage and the deck, listening to the frogs and watching the
geckos romping on the deck. This was the most relaxing,
wonderful vacation we've ever enjoyed, and we look forward to
returning soon...as long as no one discovers this unique rental
property -- I'd like to keep this all to myself!

This beautiful little cottage was perfect for my wife,Buddy(dog)and I. We honeymooned on the Island, March of 1979 and hadn't been back since but found it to be just as WONDERFUL as it was when we choose this island 30 years ago!! Everything was clean, nicely arranged/decorated and there was plenty of room for the three of us. We enjoyed the quiet walks, drinks on the deck and the closeness to all the various resturants/bars and shops that Tybee Island offers. I would highly recommend this place and Mermaid Cottage Rentals. In fact, we have already booked another cottage for our July 09 summer vacation and will bring our two grown daughters and a couple of grandsons with us this time. 115 days and counting.....

Fiddler is a charming property located on a very quiet street on the lovely island of Tybee. It is conveniently situated for visiting the beach or an easy drive to the city of Savannah. It is nice to watch the tide come in and out of the tidal marsh and we had a pleasant surprise one day with a dolphin swimming nearby during high tide. The owners provide you with everything you could possibly need to make you feel as if you are home during your stay. The Tybee locals are friendly and very helpful and the island itself is a walkers and bikers paradise.
Fiddler is intimate without the feeling of being crowded. If you are looking for luxury this would not be your cup of tea but if you are seeking a peaceful, home away from home feeling i don't think you will be disappointed with this cottage.

My husband and I, and our two dogs went down for a long weekend for Veterans Day. It was the perfect size for two people. The cottage was clean and very well kept.
The dogs loved sitting on the dock. It was great, you can hear all of the oysters clucking at low tide and at high tide you would see fish jumping out of the water.
It is away from the main strip of Tybee, but that was fine with us. This is one of the best places we have stayed at on Tybee. We will be sure to stay again, hopefully soon!!!!

The house is adorable and cozy! It's a good location if you are looking for a quiet vacation. We thought the bed was super comfortable and had a great selection of music. Few issues: the bathroom was adequate, but the walls were covered in pieced wall paper and in some areas stapled to the wall! Also, before we arrived, the owner was there and broke one of the windows in the front door. She wanted to have it fixed, so we needed to return to the house to wait for the repair man. There were no screens on the windows, so we couldn't open them to enjoy the perfect weather. The house sloped toward the marsh and if you dropped something, it rolled under the furniture! It was quite funny! Overall though, it was good and on our anniversary there was a bottle of champaigne left on our doorstep. It was very thoughtful!

If this shower stall were replaced I would then have no complaints about this cottage. It is decorated very nice and I loved the location. The dock out back was especially nice in the evenings. I will be staying here again and I will definately recommend it to others.

This cottage has all the elements of simplicity to sit back and enjoy Tybee. Having Grown up on Tybee on the back river I always love the old beach feel that a lot of newer homes and Condominiums on Tybee lack. BEWARE of the blonde neighbor though. She will immediately let you know that visitors are not welcome. She had the police called on us within 5 minutes of arrival for parking roughly 10 feet from our alloted space and proceeded to yell at us that night and the next morning saying that we were not supposed to be there. Other than her, though if you need quite and a place to relax the Fiddler cottage is awesome.
