Guest RatingRatingRatingRatingRating Cozy Beach Cottage with Fantastic Pool

This was our 3rd visit to Harbor Country and our first time staying at Cloud 9. The cottage is in a great location right off of Lakeshore Drive. The front yard is very private and wooded and features a very nice sized heated swimming pool with a shallow and a deep end. The owners provided lounge chairs and inner tubes.
There is no back yard. The dining area and kitchen actually look directly at another house and pool - thankfully no one was staying there at the time we were. The benefit is that directly behind that house are the stairs that take you to the beach so you feel like the beach is in your backyard.
The cottage itself is rather small with 2 bedrooms and only one bathroom but it worked out fine for 2 adults and 2 children. The living area is large with a beautiful and rustic wood floor, comfortable couch and beamed ceiling. Plenty of windows surround the house bringing the outdoors in. The cottage did smell a little musty so I had to buy a scented candle to mask the odor. I also want to mention that the bathroom does not have a tub - only a shower, and the laundry room is in a basement that can only be accessed by going outside around the side of the house.

This is a lovely home, close to the lake with a great big pool. We love staying here but there is a downside. The neighboring house and its pool is right off the backyard deck and the kitchen. No privacy for folks at either house.

If it had a fence in the back, it would be a 5 star property.

This is a very cute beach cottage with a pool that is nice. The cottage is clean and was comfortable for our family of 3. The beach was a little further than we thought but not bad. My only problem with the house was it smelled a little musty but that could be due to being closed up all winter and we were renters in June. I would also recommend the owner trim back a few of the trees so the pool was not so shaded however I would have no problem renting the property again. It was a nice vacation home.

Guest RatingRatingRatingRatingRating Pool was great house OK

We stayed at the property for 2 night. Before we left we were planning on extending the stay for an additional night but we decided not to after we saw the house. It was just ok. The house had a bad mold smell and there were alot of bugs in the house. We would have went home then and there but the pool was great!! Very private. The house was also located close the beach. We had our daughter age 1 with us and she loved the pool. If I stayed there again. I would bring my own cleaning supplies the house keepers did just an ok job. We actually got there when they were cleaning and we saw the women use the same rag to clean the sink that she just cleaned the toliet. Gross!!! We did not use the kitchen at all because of this. I would say if you can put up with the mold smell give it a try but make sure you bring your own cleaning supplies and wash everything down before you use anything. If we stay again we will also bring our own pots, pans and cooking supplies. Maybe we are just germ freaks but the rag really grossed us out. I bet most cleaning crews do this but to see it was really bad. For the price it was ok just because of the pool.

Mark,

Thank you for your responses. We certainly tell our housekeepers not to use the same rag on the sink and toilet unless they use it on the sink first, then the toilet. As you know the house is very "cottagey" and more bug prone and musty smelling than newer houses, but again our housekeepers shopuld have cleaned better. I will pass this on to them as well as the homeowner. Thank you very much for your time. Greg Gardner, Owner, RSVP/Rentals, Inc.
