Vail Northwoods A105/Good condo but some location issues

The condo was in very good condition, well kept up, and comfortable for a family of four; more people would be tight. Kitchen is well equipped and up to date, very usable. Bed rooms are small but with good beds. Bathrooms are basic but serviceable. Living room is good sized and well equipped; unit had dedicated WiFi connection with good connectivity and bandwidth.

The few issues we had were more about "truth in advertising" that overstated or underplayed certain items: the unit is "ski-in/ski-out" only if you have a VERY, VERY generous definition of that term. "Skiing out" requires about a five minute walk to the slope at the far western end of the five building condo complex (unit A105 is at the far eastern end of the condo complex); "Skiing in" is a little better as one can ski on the walkway within the condo complex that is downhill from the slope assuming there is snow on the walkways and you're comfortable skiing on a narrow walkway.

Swimming pool is listed as all-season, but it isn't; it's effectively closed during the winter; hottub is open during the winter. Also, the main Vail bus doesn't run to the condo, only the east Vail bus, which runs on a very reduced schedule (like once an hour most of the time). If you don't have a car, plan on walking to and from the Golden Peak area (5 to 10 minute walk) if you want access to the much more frequent Vail city bus (every 5 minutes or so).

In the past we've stayed at Lionshead, and still probably prefer Lionshead as you're really in the village. This unit doesn't really feel like it's in Vail proper as it's somewhat isolated, but not a bad walk to get into Vail proper or to the city bus.

Good Value Condo in Nice Complex

We stayed in Northwoods A105 which we rented through Vail Management Co. The management company was a pleasure to deal with and made things very easy. The condominium is a two bedroom, 2 1/2 bathroom in a very nice complex. The complex has a hot tub, pool, and fitness center which are well maintained. The property is ski-in/ski-out - however, note that A105 is on the back side of the complex and is a long walk in ski boots from the slopes! Also, the ski slope which leads to the complex is a steep blue, so it is not appropriate for beginning skiers.

The living areas of the condominium, as well as the kitchen, were superb. The downstairs has been recently remodeled and has nice furniture, appliances, and carpet. The upstairs, which consists of two bedrooms and two bathrooms - is dated and needs to be remodeled. The second bedroom contains two twin beds, and the frames are bigger than the mattresses which is awkward because the beds to not sit neatly against the wall. The window blinds are broken and all of the furniture needs to be replaced. The closet doors are rickety and also need to be replaced. Overall, a very comfortable condominium with bedrooms that need updating. More...
