Vacation Rental Description
"Maison Mallard" is located off the south shore of Lake Tahoe approximately 5 miles from the casinos at the state line. The nearest ski resort would be the Nevada Side of Heavenly being just a 5 minute drive away. This home sits in a very quiet neighborhood setting up on the rim of the Tahoe Basin, and is very close to the Tahoe Rim Trail, great for hiking and biking. It has a luxury rating, it is 2,432 square feet and it can accommodate up to 10-12 people. This home has Charter high speed internet access, a 60 inch LCD wide-screen TV with surround sound DVD and VCR, pool table, gourmet kitchen with double ovens and a pantry for the chef in mind. The breakfast bar seats 10 and the dining room seats 12. There is also a natural gas BBQ on the deck. The master bedroom has a Jacuzzi tub, TV and a walk-in closet. The back bedroom also has a TV. This home now has a new 8-person hot tub!

| Found the accommodation very workable for a group of 8. The living, dining, kitchen area was open. It was nice for gathering and visiting. Yet, if you wanted your own space, the bedrooms were large enough to retreat to. Had some cool weather; used the fireplace which was a nice treat. There was a nice deck, but it only had one small table and 3 chairs. Considering we were there in August, it would have been nice to have more seating space outside. Some used the hot tub and enjoyed it. When arriving, weren't sure if we wanted to go inside because the outside was unappealing. It was quite infested with spider webs, faded old holiday wreaths hung on the garage, and windows were filthy. With the exception of the inside windows, the inside was relatively clean. We had sufficient amounts of bath and bedroom linens. And, it was great to have a washing machine and dryer. Dissatisfaction is in regard to some issues and the inability of the management company to resolve. The dishwasher did not clean the dishes. Used it and discovered after the cycle, the dishwasher was malfunctioning, as the dishes were not clean. This then explained why the dishes in the cupboard were not clean and we had to wash them before we could use them. Someone else had put them away dirty. Also didn't have internet access. These items were reported to the management company rep the 1st day of stay. Rep said someone would be out the 2nd day. No one came, and the mgmt company never followed up. Left a message the end of the 2nd day. No return call. Called again on morning of 4th day, and talked with another rep, and then was transferred to the first person I had talked with. She said she would follow up with the repair person. Stayed one more day. Dishwasher still not fixed and rec'd no follow up from the mgmt company. Did get the internet connection on our last evening. Rec'd call from owner on the 4th day; believe he took care of getting the connection. Would not rent again w/this mgmt company. |

Very dissapointed that "starter supplies" were not there, no hand soap in
baths and no paper towels. There was only one roll of toilet paper (3 baths)
and it was eighty percent gone. We hsd to search for wssh cloths and hand
towels. We arrived late so this was a hassel. The heat was not on either,
which may be your policy? The home however is great, espeacially designed
for family gatherings and very private. Every amenity was as described. |

Annual Family Gathering |

This was our second stay at this property as our annual family gathering place. We all like it because it allows us to be together while still allowing room to spread out. The great room is our favorite spot where we can all talk, cook and watch the kids. The only drawback was the big screen TV that has a larger red spot in the middle of the screen than it had last year.
The gourmet kitchen is well equipped and great for multiple cooks. We can all move about easily, which makes cooking together fun.
The kids love playing in the fully fenced back yard and the spa is relaxing for the adults. The home is pet-friendly, so we were able to bring our dog (another great feature about this property).
The fact that skiing,snow-boarding and snow-mobiling are close by makes those activities accessible to many members of our family.
We had a GREAT vacation and highly recomend this home. |

| The house is wonderful, with a great room for large families, pool table, big big kitchen, and nice hot tub. However, we were disappointed that the large TV in the great room needed new bulbs, and was very unpleasant due to color and lighting problems. The kitchen is well stocked, but the pots and pans were very worn and junky compared to how nice everything else was. The fry pans were particularly unsafe due to crumbling teflon. If these issues were resolved, we would have been very happy. |

While we enjoyed our stay and the accommodations, I had
numerous issues with Buckingham Property Management. We
had no cable or internet, as promised and calls to the office
did not help. We were without for the duration of the stay.
More disturbing was that the owner had not been notified
that the property had been rented. So, I got a call from the
owner on Saturday, 1 hour before the wedding, and was told
that his brother and family might be showing up from
Cincinnati! Luckily they found alternate accommodations for
them - if not I am not sure what would have happened.
I never received a call back from Buckingham and will not
use their services in the future.
So - good place, bad people.

For property availability, we require all of our owners to refer to their online property calendars for availability. If their property is available, they may book it online for themselves or call us directly to book dates for themselves or their guests. This owner apparently did not. He assumed since September is a slow reservation month, his property was available for his family. This was no fault of Buckingham’s.
On the same day of arrival, this guest called our office regarding no cable or internet; we immediately called the owner to have him call the guest directly to walk him through trouble shooting. It now appears that the cable/internet issue was never resolved, and this is the first time we are hearing about it from this particular guest. |
