I paid for this rental property but was unable to stay there. I did not purchase travel insurance and had a medical emergency. I was hospitalized 2 days before my planned stay. I contacted the property manager and asked that I be able to reschedule my vacation. I did not expect a refund, but the courtesy of a credit.
This is the way I expect to be treated as a loyal, annual customer of the vacation company. I booked this vacation in spite of the fact that in June 2007, I stayed in a room at the Boardwalk for 4 days with a leak in the bedroom. The floor was wet the entire stay and I had to try to sleep with the dehumidifier going the whole time. I assumed the property management was doing everything that they could do to accommodate me.
This spring Suncoast told me that the owner would be contacted and asked to allow me to reschedule my vacation. The owner denied my request. So I lost my entire rental fee and spent my vacation in the hospital.
What comes around, goes around. Maybe in the form of a hurricane for them. I will no longer rent from this company and certainly don't recommend renting this unit and supporting its owner. |

We arrived mid-afternoon and at first glance it seemed like a nice unit. Upon further inspection, we found that the condo had not been thoroughly cleaned (hair swept behind door and toilet in bathroom, sand under chairs and rugs, etc.). I also noticed that there were only 4 bath towels and we had a party of 6 staying in the unit. I called the rental office and was told that because my unit was only a 1 bed/1 bath unit, it only came with 4 towels, even though the max capacity, and our party size, was 6. I was told I would just have to launder my towels (to the tune of $5.00 per load to wash and dry) each time someone wanted to use fresh towels. It took 15 minutes of debating this policy and finally speaking with a supervisor until they arranged for the cleaning lady to come bring additional towels. Later in the evening, as we were getting ready for bed, we folded out the full-sized sofabed to find that we had been left with mismatched sheets: one crib fitted sheet and one twin flat sheet. I had to sleep on a bare mattress with just a thin blanket as a cover. My two oldest children were staying in the bedroom and the "clean" sheets had large amounts of sand inbetween them. I had to vacuum the bed before they could sleep in it! Again, I called the office and was told I would have to make do with the sheets I had, that they wouldn't have anyone come out with appropriate sheets even though I would be left with nothing to sleep on. We were brought sheets late the next afternoon. Two nights later, there was a strong thunderstorm during the night. I was awakened by a thud followed by my youngest child crying. There was a leak in the ceiling in the hallway and water had poured in, creating a pool on the tile floor. My three-year-old son had slipped in the water and hit is arm and head on the corner of the wall. The leak continued through most of the next morning until the rain stopped. The rental office did manage to get the facility manager to look at the leak, but only after the rain stopped. We had to use all of our bath and beach towels to soak up the water, then spend our money to launder them all because nobody was willing to bring more of their precious towels (which by the way were threadbare and rough).
My family enjoyed the beach and pool area, and overall felt that Gulfshores Plantation was clean and well maintained. This unit has great potential, however, it is not being well maintained by the management company. I feel that the owners of this condo unit need to list their property with a more conscientous and responsible company who care whether or not their paying customers are having their vacations ruined by problems in their unit. Young's SunCoast Realty has a lot to learn about customer service and taking responsibility for providing quality cleaning services. Young's accepted no responsibility and frankly didn't seem to care that the unit was dirty or had insufficient necessities when we arrived. Even low-level hotels provide that much! At no time did anyone apologize for any inconvenience, or say they were sorry that we had experienced problems on our vacation. I'm a single parent and my money is carefully spent. I will never use Young's Suncoast again and will warn friends and family against renting through them as well. |

| The condo was very clean and well maintained. Easy access to the beach. The only downside was that the room was a little smaller than we had hoped. We didn't spend much time in the room anyway with all of the other activities surrounding the property. |
