Guest Reviews for Hemingway House

Lovely Shabby Chic cottage
We decided to stay on Tybee while our daughter attended the Summer Seminar at SCAD. We found Tybee Vacation Rentals through an internet search. The staff at TVR was responsive. The home was delightful! It was clean enough - we could tell the cleaning crew did a hurried job, but oh, well. We loved the place, although the HVAC had a hard time keeping the cottage cool. We maxed out the ceiling fans in an effort to get the place comfortable, which helped a lot. The washing machine was okay, but it's on its last legs. It's not an HE, so it's very rough on your clothes. Do not wash anything delicate or you may find it ruined by the machine. The cottage is located 5 blocks from the beach and one block from the river. Very quiet location. The closer you get to the beach, the noisier it is. The entire Island is only 2.5 miles long, so it's not like you're on a vast expanse of land - the beach is close to everyplace! BRING YOUR BICYCLES! This is the perfect place for casual biking! Lots of walkers and runners, too. Not a lot of wild partiers, so if that's your scene, look elsewhere. This is a great place for a quiet family vacation. We loved walking the beach every day and walking around the island. You will see a very eclectic collection of artistically inspired cottages. VERY delightful stuff! We were especially delighted to learn about the extra care the islanders take of the cat population. I love cats and the cats on the island are well cared for and spayed/neutered. The islanders go to great lengths to control the cat population and it shows! Savannah is about 20 minutes away and I highly recommend the Trolley Tour. You will see a lot of Savannah and learn a great deal about its history. Fort Pulaski was quite a nice surprise, too. We will definitely return! More...

Absolutely Perfect!
We stayed at the Hemingway House for a glorious girls weekend. Unfortunately, the weather was less-than-perfect -- lots of rain, which kept us from utilizing the amazing back yard and fire pit, but we loved the house. It was perfect for the 6 of us, with 3 bedrooms and 1 and a half baths. We also loved using the outdoor shower! The house itself was located just a short walk from the beach and other attractions, and was very nicely kept and decorated. We loved finding all the special touches and recognizing accessories from the house as we shopped in Tybee and Savannah specialty stores.
We'd come back for another visit in a minute! More...

Weekend Getaway
We loved this house! It was clean, neat, and super cute! It was a few blocks from the beach but not so long that our three year old couldn't walk it. Everybody loved the outdoor shower - which is perfect for hosing off after time in the sand. We were surprised that the master was not directly adjoining the house - since we had Grandma with us it was not an issue - but if it had just been me and my husband - we would not have felt comfortable leaving our kids alone in the main house. But, I guess we could have opened the sunroom windows and we could have been more connected. Perhaps a floorplan would be something to include on the website for other families? Anyway, we loved it and I'd gladly come back to this house again. More...
