There was good and bad

The unit was in great shape and was well appointed. I wish that more staples were in the kitchen for cooking, though. Normally when you stay in condos, other guests have left behind spices, oil, vinegar and other basics. There was nothing in this unit - forcing us to buy all of those things if we wanted to cook in the unit, which we did. And due to luggage restrictions, we of course had to leave it behind. It was an unwelcome expense.

We also experienced a malfunction of the fire alarm while we were there, which was a little harrowing, since I could not reach anyone who had any information for a while. Finally, a fellow guest told me that it's a semi-common occurrance. What's up with that?

Also inconvenient was the trek to the gas station, due to the lower road being closed. Someone needs to put some pressure on the local government to solve that problem.

Although the unit was beautiful, I'm not sure I would opt to stay in Hamilton again, just because of the lack of privacy if someone is staying in a unit next to yours. I mean, the balcony is stunning, but you're all too aware that you are sharing it with strangers.

I enjoyed the home, but had some issues.

The good: Great views, very quiet and restful place, comfortable bed and couch, free local and long distance calling from unit.

The not so good: BBQ dirty, food in fridge from last tenant, food stuck on outside of fridge door. Unit very busy and cluttered, fake palm tree in walkway blocking path, no dresser in bedroom, shower needs caddy for shampoo etc, no place to put anything, outdoor patio cushions dirty and holding water inside. Wonderful plantation shutters however every time you swing them open a cloth valence drops in front and you can't close them easily. Unit had phone with free long distance however the number is blocked so when I tried to call home for messages, the Verizon call intercept feature I have would not allow the call to go through. Why block the number? No cell service (not their fault I know)

I realize that the property manager will probably say that I should have notified them if I had house keeping issues, however it is my feeling that it is not my responsibility to police their employees, that's what a manager gets paid to do. More...

The most beautiful place we have ever stayed!!

This is by far was the most beautiful place we have ever had the privilege of staying at.
The unit we stayed in 1-57 exceeded our expectations and the million dollar view that we had from the balcony was breathtaking. The unit had everything we needed for a hassle free stay plus many added extras like DVD player, stereo system and a golf cart.
I highly recommend the Hamilton Cove Complex if you are planning to stay on Catalina Island; you will not be disappointed.

"Away from the things of men!"

What a wonderful weekend celebrating our 20th anniversary. The villa was beautifully decorated and really had the feel of an island paradise. We really felt that we were away from it all, a wonderful respite for our weary souls. The view from the balcony was breathtaking, and was so nice to be away from all the people. The addition of having a golfcart all weekend really sealed the deal for us. We will definitely recommend it to others and will definitely try to come back to Hamilton Cove 1-57 in the future. After staying there, it was hard to come back to reality! Thank you!

One of the best vacations ever!

First of all, the people at Catalina Island Vacation Rentals were wonderful. The first condo that we had picked out on line was not quite what I was had anticipated, and when we called the next morning, they were there in 30 minutes to move us to a beautiful condo at Hamilton Cove. As far as I'm concerned, there is no other place than Hamilton Cove to stay on the island. The place was beautifully decorated. There were French doors leading from the living room and the bedroom onto the balcony. We left them open all night, and just listened to the sounds of the ocean. We already plan to come back next September!
