Nice Place but needs things need attention

This Little cabin is in a great location, a block away from national forest to go sleding or walking and 5 mins away from pretty much everything else.
A few things didn't work, disposal & DVD player. The fire place had an issue that pretty much made it useless, it filled the back room with smoke, and yes the flue was open.
Overall it was a nice cosy place that we would use again.

We appreciate your review on Little Cedar. Yes, Little Cedar is a nice cozy cabin. Circumstances beyond our control happened which lead to the disposal issue. However, we did make you aware prior to occupying the home that the disposal was inoperable. It is fixed now. There have been guests in the home since your departure and we have not heard of any issues with the DVD player. We will certainly check into this. The fireplace as you know is double sided with doors on either side. The chimney/flu has been inspected with no problems sited. However, we do know through experience that when you do have a double sided fireplace the opposite side of the fireplaces doors need to be completely shut for the chimney to draw properly even though the flew is open. We are sorry you had experienced some smoke. If you had called we would've gladly visited to see what could've been done to help. We hope we have helped your concerns and would love to welcome you back to Big Bear on a return visit. Until then.....Happy Travels, The Gold Rush Team

Cute little home that's appropriate for a couple

Four of us stayed here to celebrate my mom's bday (my husband, our one-year old, my mom and I). There was a problem with the bbq grill on the first night (no propane) and the after hours person got us a tank. The next day, one of the bedroom doors got locked with my husband inside the bedroom and we had to call the office to help us open it. I'm glad my little baby wasn't alone inside the bedroom when it happened. Other than these two issues, which were solved efficiently, we felt that the house was too small for the four of us. I think it's appropriate for one couple without kids. The beds and two stairs were very creaky and made a lot of noise, which disturbed our little one in his sleep. The location is great. I loved the openness and beauty of the area. But the fact that it says its good for four people is not really true, since the living room is tiny and theres not much space to move around in the house. The spa outside is great. We loved it. Overall, other than the size of the house, I would say it was absolutely wonderful. More...

Little Cedar has been a very popular cabin for couples because of the 2 private bedrooms offering privacy with 2 Queen beds.

The photographs depict an accurate representation of the intimately sized family room and kitchen. The nightly rates are priced so affordable it really is difficult to pass up as many guests have come to appreciate.

Just an FYI, as we explained to you at the home, It is our policy to turn off the propane tank unless the unit is in use on all of the propane BBQ's throughout the homes on our program. We also do an inspection of the units function as well as the propane tank to make sure it is ready for our guests use. We know that outdoor cooking is important to our guests and want to make sure our guests are not dissappointed or inconvenienced by issues within our control.

Again, we are sorry you had trouble understanding that the propane tank was off as well as how to adjust the knob to ignite the unit once the propane was turned on.

However, we were happy to go out and make sure your needs were attended to in a timely manner. Although we knew the unit was in proper working order and that there should be no problem with the amount of propane in the tank as a precautionary measure we retrieve an additional propane tank to ensure that there would be no running out of propane for your stay!

We felt badly for you when you thought your husband was locked inside the bedroom and all that was needed was to turn the knob properly and the door opened. Although you said you were embarassed we still didn't mind coming out to help. We want our guests to know we value them and we are here for you anytime you have a question or need support. You were very gracious and we acknowlege your appreciation of our efficiency.

Maybe Little Cedar was a little small for your taste, we do have many other wonderful cabins to choose from and we look forward to having you return and try another.

With todays businesses moving towards automation and sorely lacking in the personal attentiveness. Our team strives to extend exceptional service with a warm hospitable touch. We are not here to just rent cabins, we are here to support our guests, make your stay comfortable, enjoyable, while offering quality accommodations at affordable rates.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts - we hope to see you again soon.

Warmest Regards,

The Gold Rush Team

Disappointed

10 pages of things I had to sign and not one that told me where to pick up the keys. Friends had a lakeview cabin and hot tub - told the RSVP that we were looking for similar. NOTHING close. I am from Jackson Hole and you offered NOTHING new - even the Marriott doesn't charge these prices and then offer NO extras. We live in Vegas and they would be out of tourists if they charged over $300 a night and had nothing special. We were VERY disappointed and will not be coming back to your company. Even the guest comment sheet I sent to your office was returned as Unable to Locate - Bad business. More...

Thank you for your review of Little Cedar. Just a few points to consider. Please review your contract as well as your confirmation package. Both have our location clearly printed. Our address is at the top of page one of your rental contract and also on page one of your confirmation package noted within the key pickup instructions. If you had a question or concern we would have gladly helped by phone or email, which ever you preferred. We make every effort to keep our guests completely informed as well as have the necessary information right at their own fingertips through numerous items besides personal contact. Getting to know our guests and their wishes is another area of extending hospitality that we take great pride in. From the first phone conference to the final confirmation, our reservationists are encouraged to spend time with the guest, get to know their wishes, make sure they provide numerous options including homes that are in varied price ranges, help the guest navigate our website so they can have a virtual tour of each home as they are discussing it, make certain the guest have all the tools to make an informed decision, and assure the guest we will be here if they have any questions at any time. We feel these practices enhance the guests overall experience and diminish the possibility of disappointment. Through years of experience we are aware that many times guest make a choice different from what they originally spoke about, sometimes it has to do with availability, sometimes its affordability. Little Cedar is a wonderful little cabin. However, it is not fair or reasonable to compare a lakefront or lake view property location to one that isn’t. That is like comparing an apple to an orange, they both are fruits yet very different. The information and photographs posted on our websites for “ALL” of our cabins are an accurate representation of the details, amenities, and locations of each individual property. Our websites is one of our most important tools for guests to review anything from cabins to our policies 24 hours a day. When comparing costs of a private home to a hotel room most guests share that they are very pleased at what they get for the price they paid respectively. Holiday stays are higher (standard in Big Bear) but, we also pride ourselves in offering value for our guest’s dollar. We are confident that guests doing an accurate comparison would find that dollar for dollar our cabins are a higher quality for a lower cost overall, including holiday pricing. As you know, on your specific stay we also allowed you to rent only two nights instead of the standard for the area of 4 nights at Thanksgiving, to most that would be a win-win situation. Trying to compare a stay in a private home to a hotel room is grossly non equitable! We DO NOT state anywhere that our services are comparable. This type of comparison, there’s no justification to even try! Staying in the comforts of a home in any location goes far beyond any comforts of a one room hotel. We do offer hotel like conveniences such as, freshly made beds with full linen service including towels, cleaning at departure, as well as 24 hour hospitality and emergency services. But, each cabin has its own unique and distinct personality and its own amenities. Clearly we would not expect guests to think we should be compared to any hotel or Marriott offering, 24 hr. laundry and dry cleaning services, in-room movies on demand, stocked mini bar refrigerators, 24 hr. room service on food and beverage deliveries, massage therapists and spa treatments and the list goes on. We are happy to assist you on most of these issues but they are not part of your rental fees and would be charged by the appropriate service provider for such. Aside from the services stated above, we are at a loss on what you mean by offering something new??? Our guest reviews offered at check-out is an important tool we use to gain more insight into our guests feelings and experiences. They are meant to be left in our office. Most Big Bear business locations do not receive mail at their physical location, therefore requiring a P.O. Box, unfortunately our staff did not inform you on the correct address for mailing. We do apologize for this oversight. Las Vegas offers many flamboyant services and has a reputation all its own. We like to think Big Bear has a charm all its own and we are here to welcome all guests who look forward to a relaxed family vacation with a company that serves generous portions of warm hospitality! In the spirit of good guest relations we thank you for your participation in our request and hope that we have shared constructive information pertaining to your views and experiences. Hopefully you will reconsider and allow us to welcome you on your next trip!
