Vacation Rental Description
Four bedroom, four bath river- front home with stunning decor, beautiful river view and first class amenities. Each of two bedrooms has its own mini kitchen, television with VCR, and full bath with shower and oversized tub; one has a king bed and is wheelchair accessible, the other has a queen bed. The third bedroom has a king bed and separate shower and soaking tub. The fourth bedroom has a king bed and bathroom. There is a foldout floor futon and a single rollaway for extra sleeping. Around 2600 square feet, this is a spacious home in a grand style: wood paneling, massive stone fireplace, large gourmet kitchen, game room, radiant heating, and a pool table as well as a piano in the 31' living room. Four decks, with three barbecues, and beautiful river and garden views, path leading to a private sandy beach shared with Jujube. Canoe; double kayak, two inflatable rowboats. Hot tub in gazebo. Wireless high-speed Internet access. Location: Monte Rio, California 95462. One week minimum in July and August.SUMMER TURN DAY: SUNDAY

| this was just what our reunion of four couples had looked for. a house with 4 beds & 4 baths. we liked it to the point of going back in 2010. a fully stocked kitchen, pool table , fireplace and decks that looked out to the river. the house is in a very close-house to house neighborhood but as long as we stayed in or out back of the house it was great. another reason we chose grandma's house was we have two dogs, we kept on leash ( the neighbors did not). but beware the people across the street apparently are very up tight about dogs. they complained to us after only 30 minutes of arrival and even called animal control. not needed. so if the neighbor is not so up-tight next year our stay will be that much better. |

It was a wonderful experience staying at Grandma's House. The amenities and services were great. Liked everything at the house.
Outdoor experience was great too. All of us enjoyed the kayak rides that came with the house.
On the whole we had great time together with family and friends. |

A group of friends and I have been vacationing in the Russian River area
each spring for 10 years now, and ever since we disovered Grandma's
House 8 or 9 years ago, it has set the standard for what we wish to have in
a house. Over the years as our numbers have expanded and we've become
parents, we have continued to appreciate the layout of Grandma's House
(clear distinctions between communal areas and bedrooms), the fully
stocked kitchen that enables us to cook for 10, the level play space
outside, the river access with canoes (the kids look forward to this every
year), and the proximity to Guerneville for supplies. Any year that we can't
get into Grandma's House is a little less special for our group. We have
many happy memories there! |

| Grandma's House is very spacious. I was told that the property was a former B&B and it shows. 2 of the rooms have there own separate mini-kitchens and porches. We had 10 people in our group and it was very easy to find a quiet area to relax and read. There are 3 major drawbacks to this property: First, it's right on the road- if you're looking for a quiet cabin in the woods, this is not for you. There are neighbors on 3 sides all less than 100ft from the house. Also the jacuzzi is next to the driveway and not very private. Second, the house looks out on the river, which is nice, but there is also a busy highway on the other side of the river which has a lot of traffic, even in January. Third, almost every plant in the house was completely dead. Not a huge deal, but it is a reflection of how well the property is maintained. This property is probably best for a family who wishes to stay under one roof and be close to the beach in Monte Rio but doesn't necessarily want to get closer to nature. |

| I guess nature and privacy are in the eye of the beholder. This home is on a quiet dead-end road; the road across the river is River Road, hardly a "highway" but you definitely hear road noise as you do for almost all river-front homes. The nearest homes on each side are quite some distance (most river-front homes are very close together) with much more elbow room that is usual on the river. The hot tub is not near the driveway and it is completely private, a long way from other homes and sheltered in a gazebo. Our website makes it very clear that you pretty much give up privacy if you want to be on the river; if you want seclusion and a feeling of being completely in nature, we have lots of homes up in the forested areas that suit the bill. We're sorry this setting didn't meet the guest's expectations, but we do try to let people know in advance that the river is not the place for seclusion. This home is, by the way, very well-maintained, but we do apologize for the dead plants. The owners took care of the dead bodies right away. |
