| Have spent many many years at Laughing Gull. It's a true beach house with a great location, not some condo on the water. My only concern, and it has been the same for years, has been the condition of the showers....they always seem to be stopped up, either partially or completely.... and the tiles are hanging loose off the wall. I swapped the showerhead from the second bathroom just to keep the spray inside the shower. There have been many welcomed improvements, but this really needs attention!!!!! |

Perfect for birdwatchers! |

| This is a perfect place to enjoy both beach activities and exceptional birdwatching. Laughing Gull has a screened porch overlooking the marsh and is a short walk to the beautiful beach. The lights of Myrtle Beach glow in the distance at night and Bird Island is visible during the day from the screened porch. Kayaking is possible from the rear of the property when the tide is in. The house is small and comfortable. There are some small repairs needed (like some loose tiles in a bathroom shower, a shower head that spews water from the connection, and a flapping screen on the entry door) that make this less that deluxe accommodations, but if you are here for birdwatching, it can't be beat. There are no washer and dryer so you must go some distance off the island if you want to do laundry. But this is a small inconvenience for an otherwise wonderful vacation spot. |

We've been renting this property for a few years now and aside from the new floors, the house is beginning to show its age. The outdoor shower is virtually unusable and the lack of washer/dryer is an issue with kids. We see the few issues with the home as a compromise to the fabulous view and canal access with the kayaks.
One of the family lives across the street at 409 and the convenience is great. |

Relaxing Front Porch |

| We have stayed at the Laughing Gull many times for the wonderful view from the porch. On arrival we realized the living area was not as clean as in years past. Dust balls rolled across the floor. In the kitchen under a rollable console was a thick layer of dust mixed with oatmeal The dishwasher door was broken. On the porch one of the lounge chairs had potato chips on it. After we had made our reservation we were sent an e mail offering $100.00 gasoline rebate for reservations on certain dates. We felt we should have been entitled to that rebate. |

This is a darling old fashioned beach cottage with fabulous views of
Bird Island, the ICW, salt marshes and the ocean. It has a wonderful
screened porch where you can sit and watch the tidal changes of the
marsh; the sunsets are beautiful.
The house does need some repair work -- the windows are almost
impossible to raise, the kitchen is oddly equipped and the bathrooms
are woefully outdated, but we think the views are worth the
quirkiness. This is the second time we've stayed, so we knew about its
short comings and rented it anyway!
