| We stayed here for Oktoberfest so we didn't plan on spending much time at the cabin. However, the cabin was pretty awesome. It was comfy cozy. It does creak when you first get there but seemed to disappear as the night went on. A little bit of a pain to get to the restroom as you had to go through the bedrooms and close both doors but otherwise it was fine. The view is magnificent. You literally are hundreds of feet from the water. There is a porch that juts out (see picture) and its great to wake up, sit on the patio enjoying the sun and the water with some coffee. I would stay here again. |

| The cabin was rustic and quaint and suited our needs. The beds were a bit small and a bit rough. Our gas stove/range had a gas leak and gassed us out of the cabin for about an hour. Otherwise, the stay was pleasant and accommodating. The small deck with a view of the lake was quite nice. |

Great place to be!
Close to the lake, the swings (highly appreciated by my children) and the pool. Charming and easy with kids. Just clean. You'll enjoy it! |

Home was ok, but WAY overpriced. The cabin is worth maybe half of what you
charge. Plus, 11am check-out is really lame for a vacation home - especially
considering check-in is not til 3pm.
Not worth it. |

Loved the location great with kids!
Bring your own bedding! One step up from
camping, I think it would be nice if they spent a
little bit of the 85$ cleaning fee and washed the
bedding and cleaned the carpets ( that had pet
urine on them) as well as the couch.
It's such a fablous location I hate to see it get run
down but I do think it's on it's way.
Fishing right out the docks as well as swimming.
Walk into town is short too.
We will be back more prepared! |

Lupine #106 @ Shore Acres Lodge- pick another rental |

| We have always enjoyed the rental homes we have stayed in with Big Bear Vacation Rentals, and have stayed in homes that were older and not necessarily, what I would call "homey", but you know this when going into the rental process. We have always had homes that were at least fresh and clean in appearance. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for "Lupine 106." We had never actually stayed at the lodge facilities owned by Big Bear Vacations, but since we planned a last minute trip, we thought, "At least we found something calling last minute." Especially with the deal we got, Lupine 106 started out at $450 a night, and when I ended the call with reservations it had gone down to $450 for the whole 3 day weekend. What a deal! Unfortunately, we got an old run down cabin. The cabin itself wasn't the problem, it was the interior. It stunk from the minute we walked in. The carpet was stained, dirty, and smelled. I don't know if they ever I cleaned it since the day it was installed. If you have a rental that you allow dogs at, you then have to steam clean the carpets and sofa once in a while. I had to wear my flip flops the whole time just as not to make myself freak out. I couldn't even sit on the couch without laying a blanket across it for fear or the same type of "yuck" that was on the floor. The bathroom mats were so brown and stained that we just stayed clear of them and walked on the lenoleum. The bath and kitchen were clean, they were the only part of the cabin that was. When we opened the windows, the sills revealed some chips from old vacationers along with much sand and cob webs. I honestly felt cleaner being outside, than inside. If I had paid the "asking" $450 a night, I would have flipping my lid, but as it was we had gotten "such" a deal at $450 for 3 nights, how could I complain? I told myself I could deal with it. But anyone who travels know, you could stay at a "4 star" hotel for $150 a night. Recommedation-don't stay at the lodge, rent a private house!! |

| Big Bear Vacations holds a high standard of cleanliness and inspection for all of our properties and it is not typical that accommodations are in such conditions for our guests. Any issues with cleanliness must be communicated to the office so that Big Bear Vacations housekeepers can make an attempt to improve conditions. Big Bear Vacations will address clenaliness of carpet and funiture as to ensure the quality for our next guests. |

Many of the Shore Acre cabins are falling apart |

| We have stayed at Shore Acres Lodge several times in past years, always in cabin #110. On our last visit we chose a smaller, less expensive cabin, #106 Lupine. I'm sorry to report that cabin was in deplorable condition. We heard that the management was going to refurbish all the cabins, but they only fixed up a couple of them, with no intention of refurbishing up the rest. We spoke with other guest from other cabins, and everyone said their cabins were also in horrible condition. I hate to see this happen to Shore Acres. I really do love their location and the fact that we can fish right off their dock. When we checked out at the Big Bear Vacations office. I told them about the condition of the cabin and that I thought we should be reimbursed for at least some of our cabin charge. The desk clerk agreed with me an said she'd give my list of "cabin complaints" to the management. I never heard a word back from them. I also said cabin #106 should not be rented out again until it was made livable and safe again. I looked at their website when we got home, only to see that it was still being rented out with all it's problems. Here is a copy of the list I gave to the management when we checked out...Oven does not work and smelled of gas, kitchen sink does not drain and has no plug, the door to the freezer compartment will not close because of the frost build-up. light in bedroom keeps shorting out and the outlet sparks, mold is growing in the tub, the cabin heater would NOT turn down after turning it on. Deck furniture was dilapidated and falling apart, the bed frame in one bedroom was too big for the bed, sticking out 6 inches beyond the bed. I cut a big gash in my leg from hitting it while walking by. Also, the TV, suspended from the ceiling is to high up to view without getting a sore neck. We will not stay in any of the cabins at Shore Acres Lodge again until they are refurbished. I hope that's soon because I do love the area. |
