We rented this property for two weeks in late August. We were so disappointed with this rental. Although we anticipated a more rustic rental, the proximity to the lake was our big draw. What we did not anticipate was the poor quality of the home- plywood walls with no sheetrock or sound proofing, tiny (!!!) bedrooms, living room and kitchen area. In addition, he kitchen was poorly equipped (not enough silverware for a family of 4 to eat dinner, not enough pots and pans, etc.).
The property is directly across from the public parking lot for the lakeside beach and people pulled up with trucks early in the morning to offload boats, disturbing our sleep and privacy. Further, traffic is pretty heavy on the road between the house and the beach.
The property allowed dogs but we found it not easy to have a dog there. The main street is pretty busy and had no sidewalk. since the beach was across the street (and no dogs are allowed on the beach) people yelled at us for walking on that side of the road. The side streets nearby were posted 'private' and we were confronted if we tried to walk down the side street with our dog.
In the end, we were hit with surcharges for destruction of property that we did not do.
Eastham is a lovely town and the location on the cape was perfect for access to the national seashore beaches as well as the restaurants in Brewster and Orleans that we always enjoy. |
