Puerto aventuras is a thoughtfully-planned, low-key resort village on Yucatan coast, with several hotels, condos complexes and villas situated within a gated, and well-protected community. Large pools for swimming with dolphins, manatees, etc. are at the center of the village, and restaurants and shops, which are easy walking distance from all the lodgings, surround the pools. Deep-water channels offer access from protected harbors to the ocean for fishing boats, paragliders, etc.
Villa del Mar has two, large beautiful pools. Ramp access to the pools is perfect for young kids. The beach is protected by a breakwater, so the sand does not erode and the re are no waves on the beach. The atmosphere is certainly more family oriented than party oriented.
This particular condo is large, gorgeous, cheerfully decorated, and has a nice balcony for enjoying the breezes. Everything worked beautifully. It is a little off to the side, rather than directly over the pool, but that may be preferable for some. Renting from the agent was super easy, and he was very friendly, helpful, and easy to work with.
