Laguna del Mar is located in the Quinta Luna condo complex in Puerto Aventuras. This stylish complex is done in a contemporary Mexican design with great attention to detail. Highlights include private beach on a protected lagoon, beautiful infinity edge oceanfront pool with shallow end for the kids, work out area and laundry room for guest use. My wife and I opted to take the kids on a family vacation. We chose the Riviera Maya due to the Carribean and the proximity to the various Mayan ruins. We chose Puerto aventuras for similar reasons: close to Tulum, Yal-Ku Lagoon, Playa del Carmen, etc.
Our accomodations were great, epsecially since there were six people in our group, with kids ranging in age from 11 to 20. The grown-ups had their room, the two youngest theirs, and the older kids shared the third. There was room on the couch in the living area but it wasn't needed.
The unit was very clean and tidy when we arrived and Maria kept it that way during our entire stay.
As far as convenience to the water, we were steps away. Private stairs lead to the grass, which was 30-40 feet from the beach. The view from the second floor was perfect. The kayaks afforded the opportunity to explore further from the beach.
The only negative I could say is watch out for ants in the unit. I made a mistake leaving food out in a bag (closed, but not selaed), so in the morning the ants were having a feast. I cleaned up most of the ants and Maria clean up the rest. (No more problems.)
The units at Villa Del Mar II are a bit pricey as they are in many other areas of P.A., but the value was there. If we had chosen one of the all inclusive hotels the cost would have been much greater and I doubt the amenities would have been the same.
We cooked when we wanted, ate when we wanted and did whatever we chose because we were not tied to the time schedule for a resort. For food, Barbara steered us toward a local grocery store. We were able to navigate the store and find whatever we wanted or needed, despite the language barrier. Barbara also gave information on the local attractions, which was helpful. Thank you Barbara. -

Everything about our stay here at this beautiful condo was better than that- better than the pictures, better than the words, better than anything we had expected. I stayed here with my sister and our Dad, and the set up of the condo was perfect for us.
This place offers the greatest launching pad for your awesome vacation. Within walking distance there is everything! Snorkeling (and some of the best snorkeling in the world!) is right in front of the condo. Tasty food with friendly staff, nearby hotels (one with a heated swim up pool bar!) with helpful staff, shopping, convenience stores, tour services, spa services (check out Xpa and you'll compare all future spa experience to this one!). And what is not within walking distance can be done even without having your own car. There is a company that will pick you up for all kinds of tours from one of the nearby hotels, you won't want to miss that!
Honestly, this condo is situated on the most amazing piece of land there could possibly be. It had everything we could have asked for, needed, or ever thought of. Enjoy!

This is the second time we've rented a home in Puerto through Doug Wasmuth, and we already are checking out the options for next year. Puerto is a great location for a family since there is so much to do within walking distance and safely within the confines of the village. While it's comfortable to stay on the property, there are many nearby attractions: Tulum, Xel-Ha, the biosphere and various cenotes for diving and snorkeling. No one is ever bored. The homes we've rented had ample privacy for an extended family/group; were well-equipped, decorated and maintained. No complaints. Both times we used the cooking services provided and were delighted. Doug and staff provide expert advice and service from start to follow-up. You will not be disappointed.
