Description from the owner

'Mayan Waters' is a gorgeous 2130 sq. ft. 3 bedroom, penthouse condo with ocean view, located in the beautiful Quinta del Sol complex of enchanting Puerto Aventuras Mexico. During most of the year we are willing to lock off a bedroom and rent as a 2 bedroom for a reduced price.

To the ancient Maya, water was the source of life. It was because of this belief that many important Mayan women of past were named in recognition of water. Choimha 'beautiful water', Caha-Paluma 'falling water', Tzununiha 'house of the water', Cakixia 'water of parrots',

      Spectacular Oceanfront Condo

Left on 04/09/2013 for a stay in March 2013

This has been one of our most adventurous family trips by far. We travel with two of our small children and grandma (family of five). We've been renting homes for the past six years for all our family vacations and the Mayan Waters condo is top on our list.

The pictures you see online don't do it justice, the property is more beautiful when you see it in person. It has everything you need. We couldn't be more pleased with all the amenities, the floor plan and location. We were so impressed with the condo's architecture and decor. We felt as if we were staying at a mayan art gallery. It's equipped with everything you'd have in your own home, very clean, well maintained and spacious. It's ocean & beach views are amazing. The kids loved having the two pools. The beach is wonderful for lounging but not ideal for swimming due to the rocks and choppy waves.

Located within walking distance is the marina, shops and restaurants. It's wonderful to dine at any of the restaurants and enjoy watching the dolphins perform. When you exit off the main highway to Puerto aventuras there is a large grocery store and at the complex main entrance a gas station and other eating establishments.

The location was perfect b/c within minutes to the north is Playa del Carmen and to the south is akumal and Tulum. We did rent a car, so we could visit all the neighboring towns, beaches and local attractions which were all fantastic.

I'd like to thank Doug Wasmuth, the property rental contact who helped us booking this condo. He is efficient, knowledgeable and reliable. All our communications were done by email, so it was very easy to plan for this trip.

If you are considering this property don't look any further. Book it! Just read all the reviews for yourself because the property information on-line is more than accurate.

We look forward to coming back. Truly a memorable vacation.

      Beautiful condo and beautiful location

Left on 11/05/2012 for a stay in October 2012

My two friends and I stayed in the condo for 3 nights in October 2012 and had a wonderful time. The condo decor was just beautiful. The balcony view out to the Ocean is amazing, and if I could find out who makes those lounge chairs I would buy some for my deck at home. The condo was very clean and has everything you could need. The condo building is wonderful, and has many pools to enjoy. The location is wonderful. It is safe and the restaurants in Puerto serve amazing food. The hotel very close by can book any tours you are interested in and will pick you up from the hotel entrance. The rental company is extremely professional and responsive to all questions and emails. A wonderful vacation overall!

      Great Condo!!

Left on 04/17/2012 for a stay in April 2012

My husband and I along with another couple stayed at this condo for 1 week from March 30 - April 6th. Our stay was wonderful. The natural stone flooring is gorgeous as are the arched doorways and arched ceilings. We used the BBQ nightly, the condo is very well equiped and we lacked for nothing.
We didn't swim directly in front of the condo as we didn't bring water shoes, but just a short walk down the beach is a soft white sand area with break waters. The pools were great, our favourite was the pool by the beach.
The condo staff were constantly watering, weeding and taking care of the grounds and every evening there were two security guards on the grounds who were always very helpful with any questions.
They had a bit of a mishap at the complex when one of the boilers blew and we ended up with no water, however one of the secutiry guards showed me the blown boiler and they had a plumber on his way to fix it even though it was 8pm in the evening and the water was back on within an hour - very impressive for a private condo complex!
The condo is about a 5 min walk to the center of Puerto aventuras with all the restaurants and the Dolphin area, shops and taxis.
The only draw back about Puerto aventuras is there is no grocery store, so you have to travel to Playacar to get groceries, but it's not the end of the world, the taxi ride to Playacar is about $45 return.
There is a binder at the condo with reccommendations for restaurants and activities close by - very well put together. If you want to go sport fishing go with Captain Walter, we took one of his boats (Anne Mary) and had Captain Marcus - we did the best of al the boats - Captain Marcus holds the title for best captain for two years in a row for the number of fish caught (Marlin, Sailfish, Dorado, etc).
All in all it is a great condo, we highly reccommend it and would stay again!

The condo at night - the top floor far left. Beach in front of the condo

There are 2 convenience type stores in the village center (5 minutes walk from the condo) and a full size grocery store named Chedraui very near the entry gate (15 minute walk or $5 taxi ride). On Wednesdays and Saturdays there is an excellent fresh fruit and veggie market in the village square (5 minute walk) Sorry that you were not aware of this.

      Perfect Spring Break Condo

Left on 03/22/2012 for a stay in March 2012

My family of four along with a friend and her son just returned from a spring break stay at Mayan Waters. The condo was awesome! The decor was beautiful and the amenities were top notch - from plenty of nice beach towels to the perfect margarita glassware - they really thought of all of the details. There was tons of space for three adults and three teenage boys to spread out.

The location was ideal for the activities we planned...Xel Ha, Xplor, Playa del Carmen, Akumal and Tulum were all just a short drive and a retorno or two down the road. Loved the proximitiy of the very nice Chedraui grocery store as well and Puerto aventurous was the perfect town for a quiet getaway. Eating dinner watching the dolphins was a real treat.

I would be remiss If I did not mention Doug Wasmuth in this review. In addition to his quick and thourough response to all of our questions, he provided tons information and tips. I have rented from Vrbo numerous times before and never have I been provided as much background and trip planning information as Doug provided.

If you are looking for a party atmosphere, bars, etc. stay in Playa, but if you want a quiet getaway in a place that has everything you need - Puerto aventurous is the place.

      Time Flies By Slowly

Left on 02/13/2012 for a stay in January 2012

A big thanks to Doug for all his help in making our month in Puerta adventuras a delight. From our pickup at the airport to being shown to the Cafe Ole our 1st night (and the great entertainment) made travelling at night an easy experience. The penthouse condo was as described in the photos - love the marble, wood and brick ceilings - truly unique. Sitting on the huge patio looking out at the Carib with a cold drink was truly pleasurable. In our opinion, pa is a very safe environment and we had no hesitation in exploring the surrounding areas. Also thanks to the penthouse management - the requests were small but looked after quickly and efficiently.

The area of the beach where this condo is located has other condo complexes on either side. Each complex purchases and maintains their own private beach chairs, so guests should use the chairs provided and belonging to the complex they are staying at. The beach itself though is public so guests are free to use which ever portion of the beach they wish, but should refrain from dragging the beach chairs in front of another property so that the chairs are kept close and available for the owners and guests of the property where they are staying. Some individual owners including this one, provide small portable beach chairs which they keep in their units for their guests to take out on day trips. These can be set up anywhere along the beach you wish.

Perfect location to see all that Riviera Maya has to offer!

Left on 11/07/2010 for a stay in July 2010

My family and I stayed at your condo in July, 2010. The condo is beautifully furnished and very well stocked with everything we needed from soap, towels, a well stocked kitchen, trash bags and you even had bottled water for us! We loved sitting on the spacious outdoor patio to read a book or play a game with the beautiful view of the pool and ocean. The location was perfect for our outings to Tulum, Coba, Playa del Carmen, and akumal. We loved walking around the shops and restaurants of Puerto adventuras and my children swam with the dolphins. Even though the beach right in front of the condo wasn't swimable for children (too many sea urchins), we just took a short walk north of the condo and played at the beach in front of the Omni hotel. It was a great place to swim, snorkel and make sand castles. The only problem we experienced on the trip was when my husband and son were trapped in the elevator for 45 minutes upon departure. But now it makes for a funny story! Thank you so much for sharing your paradise with us! Doug and the Brisa Caribe Team were so professional and organized and we felt very comfortable with the rental process. We loved all the information on the Brisa Caribe website prior to the trip and the thoughtful notebooks in the condo.

Best value vacation for a small group/large family

Left on 07/09/2010 for a stay in December 2009

I admit I was aprehensive sending a cashier's cheque to reserve the Mayan Waters condo because we hadn't seen any reliable reviews or received any recommendations. It was a pure leap of faith booking via the internet.

Turns out it was the best gamble we've ever taken. Our 3 kids shared a room with their very own ensuite; my husband and I had a king-size bed and our own ensuite and my in-laws had their own king-size bed and ensuite. It was the absolute perfect layout for the 7 of us.

We felt right at home with our own kitchen stocked with food we picked up at the grocery store. The luxury furinture and finishing in the condo was a treat too.

Location couldn't have been any better and we couldn't have felt any safer than staying in the gated community of Puerto adventuras. It made traveling with our kids so much more enjoyable.

We had a fantastic stay and Doug Wasmuth promptly returned our security deposit following our departure. I have already recommended this vacation rental to all my friends and family.
