      100% recommended without hesitation

Left on 01/08/2013 for a stay in November 2012

We stayed at Casa Muyuyo for 12 nights Nov/Dec 2012 during a three-month tour of Perú and Ecuador. Without doubt the Galápagos Islands were the highlight of the trip, and we have no regrets about making our trip 'land-based' with day-visits, rather than as a cruise.
Tatjana's recommendations were superb, not least in her introducing us to expert guide Paul, whose local knowledge of the ecology and enthusiasm for the unique habitats on Santa Cruz made the trip truly unforgettable. What a privilege to see giant tortoises in the highlands! Paul also gave us excellent recommendations for day-trips around Santa Cruz and to other islands by boat.
Tatjana was always very easy to communicate with and also introduced us to a very helpful taxi-driver and, of course, to Maria who was there to welcome us and who serviced the house during our stay.
The location of the house is tremendous, and we made several walking trips to both Tortuga Bay and Finch Bay to spend time on the excellent beaches there.
The house is extremely comfortable and well-appointed. The large king-size bed was so welcome, and the second bedroom accommodated a single adult very well, too. The kitchen, clothes washing facilities and bathrooms all great. Outside areas lovely places to eat and the balcony is a wonderful location for relaxing.
      Thank you!

      Fantastic location!

Left on 09/02/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Tatjana was great to work with and Maria was very reliable but her English is limited. I tried to explain that the electricity wasn't working for several appliances in the kitchen, so I think we figured out that there was a bad fuse but it wasn't fixed while we were there. No big deal, I just went out with my daughter in the mornings for breakfast since I wanted tea. The matches wouldn't hold up to me lighting them for the gas stove, either. Bring sturdy matches and you should be fine.

Beautfiul grounds and a very peaceful ambiance in the 'compound'. The little house was great, other than the toilet situation and stove/electric appliances. We spent several nights out on the balcony upstairs as well as the lovely covered patio downstairs. Great memories!

Villa Tortuga met our expectations and more. The pictures do not do it justice. Perfect place for a couple or small family to stay. It is equipped with everything you need and working with the owner made the rental process a breeze. Easy access to town and the trail to Tortuga Bay.

Excellent place to stay in Galapagos

Left on 07/01/2012 for a stay in June 2012

My father and I went to Galapagos in June for 7 days. I looked at hotels, B&Bs; and hostels and nothing seemed to feel quite right - the hotels that got the best reviews were out of my price range and the other alternatives didn't seem very comfortable. I happened to look at rentals on Trip advisor thinking that there probably wasn't anything in my price range and comfort level. When I saw Villa Tortuga, I knew this was the place for us. It was nice that my father and I each had our own rooms and there was enough space so we weren't bumping into each other.

Tajtana made the process of reserving the villa extremely easy. She arranged for Marco, the taxi driver to pick us up at the ferry as well as the return trip when we left. Maria, the housekeeper, was very nice. She showed us everything and came back once during the week to clean up. There was 5 gallons of fresh water, welcome basket of fruit and a loaf of bread. That came in handy because I caught a stomach bug in atlanta airport and was sick for a couple of days. My father atleast had something to munch on. Its about a 10 minute walk to downtown and the grocery store. Fyi - the main grocery store has really poor produce - I found better produce in the smaller stores.

The house is really, really nice. It is set back in a garden and has a nice patio area. The kitchen is fully equiped and everything is nice a clean. There isn't wifi or TV but there are many dvds to play. There is a washer and dryer which was nice because I was able to wash all of our clothes before we left to go to Quito for a week.

We were very comfortable and it was enjoyable to stay at Villa Tortuga.

The house was delightful, the Galapagos magical.

Left on 04/05/2012 for a stay in March 2012

Villa Tortuga is set in a beautiful tropical garden that is much bigger than the impression given in the photographs. It is spacious, beautifully clean, well presented, and conveniently situated for the trail to Bahia Tortuga, the harbour and the seafront. It is also within a half hour drive of the highlands, the lava tunnels, the giant tortoises at Santa Rosa, and the beach at Garapaterra, and Los Gemelos. I took day trips to the islands of Plaza South, Santa Fe, Isabella, and Bartolome, each one more exciting and stunning than the previous. I was able to see all the flora and fauna described in the books that I obtained before my trip, including pilot whales and Orcas. It is absolutely amazing to snorkel with penguins, sealions and sharks in the same place! It is also astonishing to see pelicans ans sealions queueing at the fishermans wharf for their breakfast! My overall impression of the house was delightful, and of the Galapagos - magical.

This is the way to see the Galapagos

Left on 02/22/2012 for a stay in January 2012

Villa Tortuga was accommodating, comfortable and well kept. When we arrived on the islands, the directions provided for getting to the ferry were easy and accurate. At the dock we had a can driver prearranged by the property owner to take us to the villa. The entire vacation was stress free and enjoyable. By far one of the most affordable options for staying over on the island, the villa is within walking distance of local restaurants and markets, as well as the tourist areas and numerous travel agencies. We booked all of our excursions and day trips upon arrival and had a very full and affordable vacation. I can't speak highly enough of the property, manager and housekeeper.

      A great experience

Left on 01/16/2012 for a stay in December 2011

My sons and I stayed at Villa Tortuga for 10 days. It was a wonderful experience. The house was better than we expected, very comfortable and cozy. It had everything we needed to feel at home. The location was excellent, at walking distance to Puerto ayora and also to the beautiful Tortuga Bay, which I think is the most beautiful beach in the area. It was great to return to the Villa after the beautiful day tours we did. The house has a very peaceful atmosphere, hidden in an exotic garden which is carefully kept .
We followed Tatjana's recommendations and everything worked out perfectly well. Maria the house keeper was sweet and helpful and Marco the taxi driver was always ready to help.
Thank you Tatjana for a wonderful time!

Charming, private, characteristic & excellent location

Left on 11/01/2011 for a stay in October 2011

The property is detached and in a private garden offering seclusion and an interesting garden full of birds. Its location close to the walking trail to Tortuga beach, one of the most spectacular we came across, is within easy walking distance. In the opposite direction within a few minutes walk are shops, restaurants and the harbour.
The facilities provided, including full kitchen and a BBQ, good shower and bathroom, were very good. The property is clean and well serviced by the very helpful Maria. The transfer arrangements to and from the house worked perfectly.
Maybe a couple of the furnishings could do with a little renewal but not enough to detract from the overall lovely property and location.
The price of the weeks rental seemed very fair and reasonable. We wish we had the time to stay longer.

Spacious and quiet House near City Center

Left on 11/01/2011 for a stay in October 2011

Villa Tortuga was a lovely and affordable home for my boyfriend and I while we stayed on Santa Cruz. On a quiet, residential street and in a safe walled off complex I felt safe and welcomed. We had a very nice housekeeper greet us as we arrived and show us around the house. It was clean and spacious and a nice change from cramped hotels. It was about a 5-10 minute from the city center but still close to many places. The only cons I could think of were there were no clocks set (with the time difference we got confused and rarely knew what time it was- more out fault though) and that there were tile floor issues in the main bedroom which made walking over it a little odd but overall somewhere I would stay again. And Tajiana was extremely helpful and friendly via our email correspondence!
