Small but Beautiful
Left on 05/02/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We really enjoyed our time in the small casita that is part of an overall bigger rental unit. The "Romantic Casita" where we stayed was for two people only. There is a comfortable queen size bed with the shower and toilet in the same room. I didn't care for having the toilet in such close proximity to the sleeping arrangements but that's just my personal preference. The kitchen area provides a small table and chairs and also has two "living room" type casual chairs, also a small but very sufficient refrigerator and stove. There is a lovely view looking down toward the pool, grounds area and out to the ocean. There is a constant crashing of waves that is very relaxing and the view of the beach and cliffs is nice. The beach is rocky but above the water line is El Salvador's beautiful dark brown sand that sparkles in the sun. There is good surf near by you can easily drive to or surf at the beach here but the surf is better elsewhere up the road a little way. Overall, we loved our stay here but be aware that while there are a few cooking/eating utensils, dish cleanser and toilet paper, nothing else is provided. It would have been nice if there would have been cushions on some of the outdoor chairs and loungers but there are none. You need to supply soap, paper towels, etc., also, there is no hot water. It is barely lukewarm. The grounds are beautiful and well kept and the house is very clean. Be ready for a workout as you climb up the incline and stairs all day which is not necessarily a bad thing. If you want to bike, boogie board or surf and don't have a board you can rent them. Also, last but not least, the property manager was very professional, helpful and offers great massages.

Las VegasBest vacation ever
Left on 02/22/2013 for a stay in February 2013
Who would have thought El Salvador would be the best vacation ever? The house was lovely. It has an awesome view of the beach, a beautiful pool, comfortable beds, and is immaculately clean. Shawn and D'Arcy were fabulous hosts telling and showing us where to go and what to do. The private beach is safe, clean and very few people. It really is private! We loved it and will go back.

Left on 12/21/2012 for a stay in November 2012
I stayed here in November with my wife & 10 other family members, & we all had a magnificent time. There was plenty of space and the property is designed where you to get to enjoy each other & even some private time to relax & read & take in the beautiful views as you sit steps above the ocean drinking a fresh cut coconut. The views are amazing, the staff is friendly & there to serve as you desire while giving you your privacy. We had a wonderful time, & this private home in a secured community made for a perfecto vacation..

Piedmont, MOLovely, relaxing mini vacation!
Left on 06/04/2012 for a stay in June 2012
My husband and I needed to get away to celebrate our 33rd anniversary and this was a wonderful place to go! The casita was lovely and the view was amazing! We were the only ones at the place, so we had the pool to ourselves and just enjoyed the slow pace of the weekend. We cooked breakfast both mornings in the little kitchen, and then ate lunch and dinner out. The bed was so comfortable and the shower was awesome! Lots of water pressure, which was great. We relaxed in the pool and on the hammocks and in the chairs all weekend. Such a lovely way to spend a weekend. No TV or Internet access, which was great for us. However, we were able to get Internet access at Cafe Sunzal, about 10 minutes up the road, where we went for lunch. Dinner at Beto's was delicious and the atmosphere was so cool. Friday night they had a guy playing the saxophone for over an hour. It was very romantic. We currently live in El Salvador, so this was a quick trip for us. We will most likely rent this place again before we move back to the us! You do need to be in good shape to visit this place because it is built into a hillside, so there are lots of stairs and slopes, but we managed just fine. :D

New YorkAmazing casita at the beach side
Left on 04/08/2012 for a stay in December 2011
We really loved our week at the cool and casual casita located right
on the shore of atami beach which is one of the most beautiful
beaches of El Salvador. The casita felts like a hidden treasure. It
is very cozy and secluded, perfect for lone wanderers and lovers
alike. What really blew our mind was star gazing on the big balcony
right on the ocean.
The sea wind that blows inside the casita through the beautifully
built decorative wall makes it feel fresh day and night. Everything is well maintained and brand new. The shower flows with hard pressure and was so nice to enjoy before a relaxing night in the perfect crispy sheets of the queen bed. The air con ensured great sleep. All our needs were attended to by Sean and D'Arcy, the perfect facial, yoga classes on the beach deck, a massage right on the beach to name a few.
The view is unbelievable especially during sunset. The property with
it's gardening is very inspirational and atami beach is a relaxed
beach that feels private. It is super close to the best surf spots
and for example the El Tunco beach that is great for dinner or drinks in the evening and surfing during the day. Even the locals love to
hang out in these areas so you know they are solid.
We could have easily spent our whole week at the casita but it was
nice to get a taste of the city since it's so close. It was
great to go shopping and enjoy some time at the skillfully curated
modern art museum Martes in San Salvador. On the way back it was cool to go buy fresh seafood and ready made chevice from the huge pier of
La Libertad. Daydreaming in the hammock, dipping in the pool and
grilling on the terrace made this place the best place to chill on the Salvadoran beach side. -

Morehead City, NCPeaceful and Safe Casita
Left on 04/02/2012 for a stay in March 2012
We stayed in the Casita at Beach Bella Vista the third week of March. D'Arcy and Shawn are very accomodating, and the casita was lovely Bed was comfy, air conditioning in the bedroom, and a hot shower, which can be hard to come by there! There was no hot water in the kitchen sink, however, and I would recommend adding that to avoid stomach upsets!
We spent many hours relaxing by the pool, which was immaculate, and cleaned each morning by Santo. Hammocks were also great. With the large palms overhead, there seemed to always be a place to find some shade if you were tired of the sun. Very idyllic setting for relaxing, and exploring the seapools up around the cliffs.
Since the property is located in the Atami gated community, I felt very safe.Response from Shawn and DArcy Burke - 04/11/2012

Our Guests have our best intentions in mind and that is why, from the start, we installed ultraviolet light and sand filtration to all of our Rentall properties to ensure safe useable water and to kill any bacteria- that's why none of our guests have ever gotten sick at our Casita, Bed Breakfast & Spa our or Rental Home. We don't want people to spend their hard earned vacations sick in bed so we went the extra mile to install safety water treatments as well as the coveted HOT water system which is so rare for the Coastal Homes.
We have the same water safety treatment system at our own home but we still do not recommend drinking the water, but it's safe to brush teeth, etc. For Drinking water we recommend 5 gallon jugs of "crystal." -

The tan is fading, but the memories of clear blue skies, hot days & nights spent relaxing on the beautiful Pacific coast of El Salvador will remain forever. This is a beautiful, fully equipped home that easily accommodated the six adults in our group. Shawn & D'Arcy the owners, live just a few doors down the coast & are very happy to take you on several different tours offered, cook you delicious breakfasts & dinners or provide a wonderful facial & relaxing massage in their spa, all at a reasonable cost. The house is fully equipped with modern appliances & AC in the bedrooms. Be prepared to provide your own toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags, dish soap, hand soap, drinking water. The Burke's will be happy to take you in to la Libertad for these essentials for a small cost. If you are looking to get away from the ratrace & relax this is the spot for you. The Burke's picked us up & delivered us back to the airport at all the right times - it was wonderful!

Left on 12/25/2011 for a stay in December 2011
Heaven on earth! This spectacular home is beautifully furnished and the views are magnificent. It is in a gated community and we felt exceptionally safe. The owners D'Arcy and Shawn are just a few doors down and willing to help and provide tours for you, if desired. They picked us up at the airport and made our arrival seamless. We enjoyed the full "American" kitchen and lots of tranquil family time as it was a reunion for us with our son serving in the Peace Corps in Honduras. The house sleeps many more than the four that we had occupying it and I would suggest you use it for more people since the cost is kind of pricey.
