Ypsilanti MichiganIt really is paradise
Left on 02/20/2013 for a stay in February 2013
We have stayed in a couple of locations in Puerto Morelos but this condo had the best view and was very close to the town square. Out of all the communities in PM, Playasol has the most lush and tropical gardens, a very nice pool and a wonderful staff. Also, right next to it are bars and restaurants on the beach. It is so easy to get to from Cancun airport and you will not be inundated with crowds, you will enjoy the surroundings at your leisure. Or just stop in the grocery store and cook, full kitchen, even has a washer and dryer and internet. It has all the comforts of home with a view of paradise. You will not be disappointed, you will want to keep coming back every year.

Left on 02/08/2013 for a stay in January 2013
My family (3 month old and 3 year old) was seeking a relaxing vacation before I headed back to work. This is a great place for kids given the close proximity of the beach and the pool. Surprising the shallow end of the pool was quite shallow and my 3 yr old was able to touch, which was nice.
The condo is very comfortable and the views of the pool and beach from the balcony are great. We found cooking breakfast and lunch at the condo and eating dinner out to work well for us. It is only a short walk into town and the grocery store met all of our needs. We did realize there was a small farmer's market next to the church in the plaza on Wednesday and the produce there was a bit better than at the store.
There is daily cleaning service for beds, bathrooms, and floors. Huge plus when you have kids (ie less time) and are at the beach every day (ie sand).
Wifi tip - works best when you are close to the pool.
Owners beach toys and beach umbrella are a big plus too.
Town is quaint and very pleasant.
We did not rent a car and found no need for it.Response from Bruce Conord - 02/17/2013

The owners have taken great pains to make sure you can start relaxing the moment you arrive. A welcoming manager greets you and you can start enjoying the great pool and beach. The condo is extremely well furnished with everything you need- beach equipment, books , movies, condiments to get started, all those little things that you forgot to bring. We will definitely be returning!

We have been to the Mayan Riviera many times over the years staying in all-inclusives, private homes and condos. We have found Villa Playasol to be the best! Bruce and June's condo is beautifully equipped and spotless. The grounds and beach are exceptional. CeCe is there to help with everything.

Left on 03/02/2012 for a stay in February 2012
lovely clean sandy beach in front of condo complex, very well kept condo grounds and pool, condo unit with everything one needs for a relaxing stay. Very easy walk to the wonderful town center.
Slow internet service and access issues unless in living room or front balcony area.
No need to leave Puerto Morelos as enough free evening entertainment on the town square, shopping, restaurants and access to water activities such as snorkeling, diving, sailboarding, boating, fishing, etc.
I would skip to the trip the Mayan ruins of Chizen itza as too many hours (4 each way) on a bus and too many vendors hawking their wares inside the ruins which spoils the experience. I heard the ruins at Tulum were closer and more enjoyable to view. -

Great beach and a great pool setting with lots of little girls for our daughter to play with. Puerto Morelos is great little village off the beaten path.
It's a nice little unit is well equipped for your crew. I'd recommend it for couple or a couple with 1 or 2 kids (depending upon how well the kids share a bedroom). -

OttawaJust right for discovering the Yucatan and family relaxation
Left on 03/24/2011 for a stay in March 2011
Travelled with spouse and two 20ish daughters, our first time in Mexico. Puerto Morelos is halfway between Cancun and Playa del Carmen but a world away from both: quiet, friendly, not a Burger King in sight (an assortment of tasty Mexican, Asian and international restaurants instead). The Conords' condo in Villas Playasol is compact, clean, and conveniently a couple of blocks from the town square. The modest bedrooms have quiet air-conditioning units (split ductless variety) or you can choose to open the windows and let the breezes and fan cool you. Mattresses are delightfully firm. New towels daily including beach towels. Wireless internet; eclectic library featured great guidebooks including their own. The Conords' restaurant recommendations were great. Kitchen had all we needed including spice staples. A rented car made it easy to explore the larger region including Chichen Itza. It would also be a great vacation to stay in town, enjoy the excellent beach as well as the condo complex's pool which was the centre of younger families' social life, dive under the auspices of Brett at Dive In and take one of the plentiful taxis or minibuses to closer attractions like the Crococun Zoo, cenotes and the Jungle Massage / Sunday market. The little food stores in town are pretty basic; cross the highway to the other half of Puerto Morelos for a wider choice of fresh fruit and vegetables, or stock up on delicacies in Cancun's larger supermarkets.

Ann Arbor, MichiganUnforgettable Caribbean View!
Left on 02/18/2011 for a stay in February 2011
My husband and I stayed in this 2 bedroom condo overlooking the Caribbean. The view was amazing and it was a very short walk to town along the beach. The condo was very comfortable, with a king bed, small kitchen, very nice pool and on-site, tropical gardens. It was the perfect place to relax and just enjoy the sea breezes. You can walk to town (Puerto Morelos), there is a small grocery store and a market on Wed. to buy fresh food, if you wish to cook. Otherwise, you have many great restaurants to choose from in town and along side streets on your way to town. Our favorites are L'Oazis ( try the ceasar salad) and Posada amor for the best margaritas in town, (bar open after 3pm). If you are looking for a low key, relaxing vacation away from resorts and tourists, this is your place!

I was a little hesitant (OK - I was scared to death) to PayPal a big load of money to a person in another country, in advance, who I had never met. Until the moment we arrived, I was convinced my money was gone and we would have nowhere to stay. How wrong I was!
CeCe manages the rental units at this small condo complex. She is fantastic! She treated us like family from the moment we arrived, and instantly took care of the (very minor) issues that arose. The condo is 2 bedrooms, and if anything, was nicer than the pictures. The main balcony is small, but looks out over the pool and the ocean. Our daughter Marisol loved having her breakfast on the balcony with mom. The condo has everything you need (and want). A huge library of books, CDs, Dvds. A great collection of cookware, utensils, plates, glasses, condiments. Beds were very comfortable - after a day or two to adjust to being on vacation we (including our 3 year old) slept until 8 am or so every day - heaven! A stocked bar - we drank a bottle of wine and replaced it with another (I hope that was OK). Beach chairs and an umbrella, snorkeling equipment for kids, plenty of towels for the bath, pool and beach, stocked medicine cabinet - even a small artificial Christmas tree that Marisol loved. Very quiet and efficient air conditioning to cool things down at night, and ceiling fans in every room. Safe and secure (and free) parking.
Closest restaurant is 100 feet away, and the main group of restaurants in town is only 2 blocks away. And the other residents and renters (and shopkeepers) are so friendly! We made friends instantly and everyone helped each other out.
No annoying vendors on the gorgeous beach, and plenty of space - not crowded. Good snorkeling right off the beach, but spend the $20 and go out to the reef - it's worth it.
We'll be back next time we are in Mexico! -

Before the trip, Bruce (owner) gave us help and advice - both by phone and email. When we arrived, we were met by friendly and accommodating people who maintain and manage this beautiful, comfortable place to stay. Maintenance of the villa grounds is impeccable. The beach, which is located directly in back of the courtyard, is beautiful, white, and clean.

Villas Playasol was a great place to stay in Puerto Morelos. It is only 3 blocks from town - we were able to walk everywhere. The view from the balcony was spectacular and the condo is right on the beach. It was very comfortable and homey. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I loved it there!

We have rented this particular Playasol condo for a week or so several times in the past, and loved it, so when we had the opportunity to spend six weeks of my husband's sabbatical here, we jumped at the chance. Our experience was absolutely wonderful.
We have visited Puerto Morelos easily a dozen times or more, and stayed at a couple of other places in town, but once we tried Playasol, it's been our choice ever since. Playasol is a small complex consisting of 30 privately owned condos and 5 larger stand-alone villas. The complex is right on the beach, and each unit provides a gorgeous ocean view. The grounds, pool and buildings are extremely well maintained, and the manager and staff are very friendly and helpful.
We are drawn to rent this particular condo because of the owners. They have always been extremely honest, straightforward, and helpful. For example, we were here last spring seeing if it would be feasible to do our sabbatical here, and the Playasol WiFi was kind of slow. My husband is writing a book, and it was critical for him to have fast, reliable internet access. When we expressed concern, Bruce reassured us that he could improve the signal, and added a booster unit right in their condo, to make sure we would have good internet service.
The fact that the Conords actually spend a lot of time living and working here means that their condo is much better furnished and much homier than a typical “bare bones” sterile rental. The kitchen, while small, is very well furnished. Yes, most vacation rentals have a blender, but how many have a crockpot or a tea cozy? The living room has a generous library of interesting books, including many kids books, puzzles and games, and a large DVD collection. The condo is attractively decorated with interesting art, appealing bedspreads and other furnishings.
In summary, this condo provides a particularly nice place to stay in a lovely beachfront complex in a charming quiet small town.
