Description from the owner
This four (4) bedroom home is located in the popular and secure Playa Paraiso neighborhood. 24 hour gated security and an almost private beach headline this house. The best feature is that it is just steps off the beach but has a private beachfront lot with it's own Palapa for your exclusive use. So, spend however long you want at the beach and then relax in your very private backyard without having to worry about anyone looking in on you. It takes you only 1 minute to leave the backyard and get to the beach lot. It's a mere 150 yards away.
Also on the beachfront lot is a private 8' table with a flip up top where we store all the...Read more

Salem, MAPerfect Villa for a family vacation
Left on 03/31/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We stayed a week at Casa del Sol in Playa Paraiso. This villa worked out perfectly for our two families. The villa is divided into two connected halves, each with its own kitchen, master bedroom and guest bedrooms. There is good wifi, and many power outlets near the pool for charging. The private pool was fantastic, as were the two pool side palapas. The trees and landscaping gave the pool area privacy. We surveyed other villas in the neighborhood and determined that over all this villa probably had the best set up with the big private pool, lots of pool side tables and chairs, and the private beach palapa. While the beach was a walk, the private beach palapa and chairs was wonderful, and meant no lugging chairs, etc. The beach side container held sand toys and boogie boards, as well as more beach chairs. We were there Easter week, so perhaps the beach was more crowded than usual...but the beach is definitely not "private." The palapa however is, and is marked as private property to keep passers by from using it. It was great not to have to worry about chair saving at the pool or the beach. Additionally, the palapa is on about the nicest stretch of beach for miles. The adjacent hotel guests would often come down by our beach and build sand castles and swim. The nearby Mayan Palace has basically no suitable swimming since it is all rocky, so many guest would venture down to find better swimming spots. There is a lot of foot traffic from both nearby resorts, and the palapa is in between two other private beach side villas. You honestly cannot beat this beach though. Clear blue water and soft white sand.
We rented the Durango for the week which was perfect for our 7 people. We went to Playa del Carmen for dinner a couple of nights, and also to the quieter Puerto Morelos. We found excellent snorkeling in Puerto Morelos for $25/pp. They all want your business there, so it is easy to find a boat to take you out. They all essentially go to the same spots. Our brother in law took his family to the Croco Cun zoo which they said was great and very interactive. We probably should have done more during the week...but laying by the pool and beach just felt too good to leave.
You can get groceries, booze and whatever else at the Walmart in Playa del Carmen. We had a hard time finding any good wine selections though.
Another note about the villa is that the caretakers, Jack and Kelly, are phenomenal. They quickly took care of whatever problems arose and were full of great local advice. They arranged for a massage therapist to come one day. She set up her table on the roof deck and it was extremely relaxing and inexpensive We also arranged for a chef to prepare a Mexican fiesta for us by the pool one night. It was amazing and inexpensive. She shopped, cooked, served, and cleaned up for us.
We had such a great time that we were all sad to leave, and already planning our trip back next year. We usually stay in villas when we travel, and we all agreed that this was the best villa we have stayed at. You cannot go wrong with this one.
