    Additional Location Information

You are vacationing at one of the most diverse and spectacular beach locations anywhere. How remote are we? How unspoiled? How about this… the nearest home on the beach to the south is in the Ejido of Desemboque, 16.5 miles away. The nearest home to the north is at Playa Paloma, 6 miles away. Where else can you go where over 22 miles of remote unspoiled beach waits for you to gather shells, wander and just soak up the quiet beauty of the sea. Santo Tomas, a unique community where you drink water right out of the tap. Water that comes from a fresh agricultural well 2 miles inland and power lines are underground.

About 1 mile north, behind the dunes, is the Ancient Forest.
A landscape filled with massive Saguaro and Organ Pipe cacti, huge bird nests and 2,000 year old pottery shards. To the east beyond the Ejido [village] is the Maria Forest where some of the largest Grand Cardons in the world thrive. 14 miles to the north is an estuary where an inland sea is created every 12 hours, then drained. Tides go out every 6 hours and then back in another 6 with as much as 20 vertical feet of difference. The wreckage of a World War 2 Hellcat Fighter plane can be seen at low tide about 1/3 mile north of the clubhouse. Bird Island, about 20 miles to the north, is the home of 3,400 sea lions and is a diver’s paradise.

Welcome to the Real Mexico, the land of Asparagus, Grapes, Olives, and Citrus. A farming region that is 2nd in the world for asparagus production. Buy fresh caught fish, produce and groceries right in the Ejido [Alvaro Obregon] just 7 miles to the east. Enjoy your visit, kayak with Dolfins, swim in the warm sea, eat and drink well.

Awesome...found a seahorse (a first for me) and a beautiful home

Left on 11/28/2012 for a stay in November 2012

I have been to Mexico a number of times. Have experienced this same area and truly there is no place like it. The beach is never ending and more beautiful than anything in Rocky Point. We stayed in the Palapa. Good kitchen with and well stocked. Although a DVD player available, we played, cards or sat outside and watched the sky change. Most meals were eaten outside...took out own folding table. There were two bedrooms (one with a kingsized bed and one queen-sized. Couches okay for kids but not for adults for sleeping. We took sleeping bags, used the chaise lounge pads on the patio furniture for sleeping outside. There were 5 of us. I certainly won't hesitate to go again and my friends agree with me. Took the kayaks out barbecued and loved sitting under the palapa watching the dolphin, sky and water. Norma and Gang.

A beautiful location and house off the beaten path

Left on 11/19/2012 for a stay in November 2012

Milo responded promptly to our request for info. and details about the rental. The house is very clean and fully furnished, especially the kitchen which is very conducive to cooking. A table is needed for dining as there is only a bar in the kitchen

The beds were comfortable, but really only sleep 4, not 5 as presented, as the couches are not long enough for an adult.

Nice porch for watching the ocean, etc. Milo's directions for getting there and Mexican customs/stops were very detailed which we appreciated.

We are seasoned Mexico travelers and have stayed at Las Dunas many times. It offers a quiet, beautiful beach that stretches for miles. Overall the house is very desirable.

We spent a wonderful four days with family and friends. Walking in the sands and on the beach, collecting sea shells and sand dollars. The accommodations were spotless and comfortable. To go here is to go to a rare adventure. We were blessed with amazing weather and even saw dolphins in the ocean. The owners are exceptional and provided excellent service. We hope to go here again!

      Most relaxing vacation ever!!

Left on 10/04/2012 for a stay in December 2011

Our family has begun to consider this vacation home our "home away from home". We have visited here on four different occasions. We love that we can walk just a short distance and be in the ocean. We love the phenomenal amount and the diversity of the shells on the beach. We love watching the wildlife. Our all-time favorite experience was kayaking with the dolphins. Being so close to such magnificent creatures was a chance of a lifetime (and it happened more than once.) The home is perfect for families or just couples. It has everything needed for cooking. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The owners are very accommodating and always make our stay fun and relaxing. We love visiting this piece of heaven!

Ocean Fun and Relaxation in a Luxury Home

Left on 09/26/2012 for a stay in August 2012

This house was beautiful. The inside is amazing; clean and comfortable. The best part was gazing out at the ocean from all the windows. It was fun to be so isolated; we had the whole beach to ourselves! The variety of shells to collect was amazing, as was taking out the kayaks. In the mornings and evening we played in the ocean; during the hot days of august we relaxed inside by reading, watching movies, doing puzzles and playing games. This is a great place to go with a lot of people. It was great to have a washer and dryer, which you wouldn't have access to at a hotel. It was a long drive to get there but we were all so excited when we saw the place. I would suggest making sure you have all the food you want; as it really is in an isolated area. Also, the kids were freaked out by the large crickets and variety of flying bugs but that's just something they have to get used to. August was a hot month to be there; I would definitely love to come back in a slightly cooler month!Lastly, make sure you ask how to get the Internet to work. I'm not remotely tech-savvy so I didn't know...but at least I didn't spend the vacay online :). Thank you to the owners for sharing their home with us. Gorgeous!

Left on 07/13/2012 for a stay in April 2010

This luxerious vacation home is truly spectacular. On the inside, the furnishings are beautiful and comfortable , creating a relaxing environment. There are windows everywhere which I like a lot. It is peaceful and quite relaxing because it is not a place where tourists migrate to. My favorite things about this home would have to be the tile mermaid on the outside wall, the close access to the beach, the miles of space I can use to run without people everywhere and of course the dolphins and gorgeous sunsets that can be seen from the front porch of the casita. I wish I could get the rest of my family to come there.

      10 Year anniversary Mexico Trip

Left on 06/17/2012 for a stay in April 2012

My wife and I stayed here for our 10 year anniversary and had a blast! We enjoyed the fun little towns in the area and along the way, too. The beach was beautiful and we especially enjoyed the kayaks. Seeing the dolphins, birds, crabs and other wild life was great, and the beach was covered with shells. Despite all the rumors we have heard about the dangers of Mexico, the McCowans assurances of safety were accurate. We felt as safe as we do in the U.S.
We will stay there again, but next time we will take our kids!

It was a real treat to wake up in the morning and look out the front window to this beautiful beach and ocean. The service could not have been more accomodating and friendly. It was fun to be able to visit the little village, ride the four wheelers along the beach, see the amazing cactus forest, and collect hundreds of beautiful shells. The dolphins came out to show off the last day we were there! Also fun shops and fun places to eat in Puerto Pinasco. We will definately go back again soon!!

We were able to visit the sand mall in Puerto Penasco and eat the best flounder at a local restrant there. I guess what we liked the best would be a week of very relaxing and interesting experiences that we have shared with all of our family and friends. We would love to come back again.

If you want to get away and enjoy the ocean and sea life without any crowds dont pass up this opputunity. we didnt see another person on the beach for 4 days. Kayaking with dolphins, snorking, collecting shells, skim boarding behind 4 wheelers or the truck, and just chillin on the beach with good friends and family; it doesnt get much better. We stayed here with our 5 kids and it was absolutely amazing. The beach was loaded with sea shells and interesting things to look at for the kids. We were able to use the kayaks which provided some unbelievable encounters with the dolphins that swam by everyday. The home is beautiful, very spacious and comfortable with plenty of room for even more than the seven of us. We were privileged to have the owners here for part of our vacation, they are very accommodating and full of information about the local area. We played and played all day and watched the magnificent sunsets each night as a family. Whenever we talk about another family vacation, this is where everyone wants to go. We will be returning soon. The border crossing was easy and uneventful. Definitely worth the trip.

We stayed in this beautiful home for a week. The home is perfect and has everything we needed for the whole week. The beds were very comfortable and the environment very inviting. The neighbors (few and far between) were all very friendly and helpful as well. It was only a short stroll to the beach where you could walk for miles and miles either way. It was truly amazing being able to sit on the deck and watch the dolphins jump, however it was even better to be able to grab a sea Kayak (provided) and paddle out and be within arms length of them. The weather was perfect; not too hot and not too cold. It was also really nice only being an hour from Puerto Penasco where we spent a day shopping and going to the aquarium.

Awesome amenities! The house was a great place to get out of the sun for a bit and make some amazing food! Romantic and beautiful sunsets every evening! Loved 4-wheeling, soccer, frisbee, morning runs, and laying out on the beach! Amazing plan to find awesome shells and spectacular wildlife!

Left on 05/31/2012 for a stay in March 2011

The home had plenty of beds for all 7 of us, lacked nothing in the way of cooking gear, bedding, or furniture, and with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms it was very comfortable. Listening to the ocean at night and morning while going to, and waking from, sleep was very relaxing, and the cool breeze made it easy. Walking out the back door onto the beach was awesome and the kids entertained themselves all week. Milo and Boni were excellent hosts and guides, taking us on excursions to the cactus forests, old cathedrals, and along the beach to fishing villages for a taste of some local foods and entertainment. Santo Thomas is far enough away from the border towns and tourist areas that i felt safe having my family in Mexico, and there was enough to see and do at the beach that i didn't have to spend my vacation driving from place to place to be entertained, but i could relax on the beach and shop locally.

If staying on a private beach, where you literally walk out the door and into the ocean, and where you can hunt for shells, kayak for hours with the dolphins and not have a worry in the world is your kind of vacation, then this is the place for you.

When we arrived I thought we had entered paradise. Beautiful sunrises and amazing sunsets. Cool sea breeze and ocean temperatures warm enough to spend hours in.

We stayed in the Casita, which is 2 bedrooms and fully furnished and equipped. All I had to do was bring the food. Nothing was lacking. I highly recommend this property!

We spent our days on the sea kayaks and exploring tidal pools, our evenings having beach campfires. Our 13 year old son hardly came in the house, except to eat the delicious bean dip that our friendly hosts offered us. Our 16 year old daughter kayaked with dolphins and told us she'd "never forget this day." How could we ask for more?

My husband, son and I had an adventure to remember hanging out with Milo, Bonnie and Penny at their fantastic hide away in the sun. Where the sand meets the Sea of Cortez is where we stayed in an large modern 2 bed room casita, with a full kitchen, living room plenty of views of the ocean. Private but not alone, lots and lots of beautiful ancient desert to explore on quads that Milo provided as well as personel tour of the ananzi indians stomping grounds. So much fun and not enough time. No better place for my family to stay then with Milo, Bonnie and Penny in their gorgeous castle in the sand.

      Amazing!

Left on 05/25/2012 for a stay in March 2011

The home is gorgeous, right on the beach. The beach itself is not touristy or crowded but a wonderful getaway a little off the beaten track. Beach combing in the mornings was fun, kayaking with the dolphins for free--no tour, or additional cost-- just dolphins jumping up near our kayaks was spectacular. This place has everything needed for wonderful family, couple and/or friend time. The owners are charming, easy to work with and they make you feel at home. If you're looking for mega malls this isn't for you (although there is a village not far away where you can buy essentials) and larger grocery stores within an hours drive. If, however, you're looking for a place that feels safe and secure, yet retains its local flavor, with a stretch of beach that feels like you own it, then you'll love this place. We did!

Incredible home with amazing views, spectacular secluded beach.

This home is absolutely stunning. A modern version of old world Mexico. Very comfortable with every modern convenience. We cooked in a great kitchen and had a couple of meals catered by a local family with delicious traditional Mexican dishes. This is an out of the way vacation spot but well worth visiting. It is probably one of the few places left where you have miles and miles of pristine beach basically to yourself. We walked along the beach for miles only encountering a few folks who were enjoying this one of a kind location. We could watch the kids play on the beach and feel totally safe. We would highly recommend this rental to families looking for a quiet getaway to build lasting memories. Well worth twice the price.

Awesome home and great service from the owners!

We stayed in the home for several days. It was fabulous. The beach offered miles of seclusion and exciting discoveries. We liked the relative solitude the beaches offered and the luxury of the home. It was also great to travel to Mexico's cities in the vicinity and experience non-tourist type food and culture. We also enjoyed hiking and exploring the desert. All in all, a great vacation!

Do you like miles of beach to yourself? Do you like taking out a kayak and playing amongst dolphins then this place is for you.

I'm not even going to go into the luxury and spaciousness of this rancho. Watching and playing in nature at its ocean front best in comfort is what this place is all about. I truely had a great experience there, and want to do it again.

      Wow The best vacation ever

Left on 05/24/2012 for a stay in February 2011

The most relaxing and beautiful place I have ever vacationed.
The home was fabulous. The artistic touches were abundant in the ceramic tiles and the wonderful ceiling. The view of the ocean and access to the beach were always right out the front door. It was amazing to see the tides go out and leave pools brimming with sea creatures. Unusual seashells were yours for the picking. A plus was watching the dolphins cavorting, especially while kayaking. The different cactus forests were also interesting. I would recommend this vacation to anyone. There was nothing I didn't like about it. The hosts were #1.

I love the aI resorts, and tourist traps as much as the next person.
This vacation rental is completely different where else can you sit on a beautiful beach watching the dolphins with privacy. The solitude of this location combined with amazing amenities, and super friendly staff-security makes this location very desired for my needs. Enjoy your stay! Morgan
