Everything about this place is great. My girlfriend and I were staying the night in the Dominican Republic before joining a liveaboard, and was looking for something a little different from the resorts. We got picked up from Tim and as requested, he took us into town to pick up some wine.
It was my girlfriends birthday, and with Tim's help, it was a memorable one. I requested a romantic dinner set up on the balcony of our suite and he was more then happy to help. I didn't know what to expect, but the dinner was one of the best I ever had. The food was so fresh and delicious.
The next day we only had a half day to spend there, and Tim was able to sort out a hike to some local falls. They were incredible and we thoroughly enjoyed swimming in them. Tim also arranged transportation for us to the marina, but first made us a meal. Like all food prior, it was great.
The views are amazing and property is beautiful. If I'm ever back in the Dominican Republic, I will definitely be staying here. -

The best kept secret in the world...I love this place, its pace, The owners.
I have stayed here 4 times and every time awesome. One thousand feet above stress level,Tropical forests, waterfalls, perfect.
I feel removed from all that is wrong in this world when I am at this lodge.
My wife and I plan to retire on this property some day.
don't tell to many people about this place.

A fantastic place to relax and forget about the rest of the world, up high in the mountains surrounded by forest with an amazing view of the ocean. The rooms are rustic no thrills but have their own unique style and are comfortable, the washroom facilities are 'Camping' but clean, it's awesome to look out over the forest whilst brushing your teeth. A must is the spring fed showers in the lower garden, if you need a wake up call these are for you. Also check out the 'bathroom' with a view.
Tim (the owner) is a real character, making your stay even more pleasurable with his dry humour, it's nice to stay somewhere where your host actually sits down to eat with you, which is hardly surprising as the food is excellent, you'll need to get out and explore the area to work off all the delicious creations that come out of the kitchen.
All in all a great place to chill out, not far from the coast or the airport and Tim will pick you up, which makes everything very easy. -

This is not your 'typical' vacation experience!
If you love to
travel, have an open mind, and understand the 'island' way of things,
you will LOVE LOVE LOVE Tubagua!
Tim and his family are wonderful,
the view is nothing short of spectacular, and the open-air sleeping
quarters are equally as comfortable as the little cabins.
I have
stayed here many times, and cannot WAIT to return!!
Feel free to
email me if you have any questions...
cheers!!

4T manages educational, adventure & community service programs throughout the DR for groups of 6 to 500. TPV is conveniently located near the POP airport but FEELS like it is a million miles away from city life. Lush vegetation, amazing views, rustic-yet-comfortable accommodations, delicious bbq, reliable staff and dependable management have made this property a staff favorite for introducing student and young adult groups to the DR. TPV is an authentic experience. All this AND we can get a 28-passenger bus with trailer within 50 meters of guest rooms!

The views from Tubagua were AMAZING. You will not find better views on the island, hands down. If you're looking for an outdoor, homey camping experience (the only hot water I had my entire week in the DR, including some nice hotels), don't miss it!

We did a 3 day Motivational event, for Staff who work in the Tourist
Industry, (Sail boat captains, Dive Instructors) Because of their nature
of their work , they are a demanding hard crowd to please…
They were all Ecstatic with the natural setting and the personalized
attention they got, and made us promise that we would bring them
back next year.
Thanks Tim for taking such good care of our Team.
We highly recommend Tubagua Plantation!

I went to DR with a small film crew to shoot a part of a feature film. It
was decided with very little notice. Tim Hall who runs the Tubagua
Plantation Village was able to arrange for everything we asked for, not
only lodging but just as well locations, transportation, catering and
even some cast members. He made us right away feel confident in
terms of our work just as well as making us feel welcomed and well at
his retreat. The retreat itself is worth visiting simply because of the
beautiful setting, excellent food and comfortable lodging, it is worth a
visit, it is simply fantastic. Tim's vast knowledge of the DR's infra
structure as well as connections is very valuable when doing work like
we were doing. -

At first I was a little skepticle and nervous because of how layed back and "unplanned" the reservation was. It's definately not your usual check in and check out of say...a hotel. It was however one of the best experiences I have had being a frequent traveler to many exotic places. I had actually planned on staying at some other places during my stay in DR but this place was so amazing-the view, the neighbors, the host. I never wanted to leave! And cant wait to return. I did not feel at all uncomfortable, I used the facilities like if I were at home. The kitchen, bathroom, etc. It was nice not having someone knock on the door to clean your room or tell you breakfast was ready, time didn't exist. You just do as you please, as a vacation should be. I felt safe and welcomed. The owner has a bar/restaurant where you can go to relax and meet wonderful people, the bar tenders, kareoke singer, I truly miss them! Not sure what else I can say except that I WILL BE BACK!

When I stayed in Tubagua, I was combining work with holidays. The
eco-lodge proved to be an excellent base in truly unique
surroundings. Incredible movie locations were to be found within
short distances and the service level was very good and personal. To
hang out at the lodge is a luxury that I can´t wait to get back to. -

When you go to a different country, one needs to experience that countries beauty and appreciate their customs and life style. Not spend time in a Five Star Resort that you can find anywhere in the world and pay a a arm and a leg.
I had no idea what to expect or where "Tubagua" was, as I left the state of Oregon in the USA. A great friend told me to make this place to stay and you would never, ever forget your experiences. When I landed in Puerto Plata, I knew right of the bat that things would be OK, as Tim Hall with a smile on his face, treated me kindly and off we went.
Up the hill we drove 1000 ft. to the top of the mountain. I felt like I just entered paradise and was directed to my cabin with fantastic views...you could tell all the love and pride that went into the planning and protection of the land that makes Tubagua Plantation Village a place you must put on your schedule to stay when you travel to the DR and/or visiting and experiencing the Humpback Whales in the Silver Bank Whale Sanctuary in the Dominican Republic.
Take a day before your whale trip as I did to completely relax from the traveling. Then
return to "Tubagua" after your eye-to-eye encounters with the whales and the wonderful crew and new friends you made on the boat.
I decided to stay two additional days that gave me time to appreciate this "Paradise on the mountain" to the fullest. I never felt so rested in my queen bed, sleeping as long as wanted and not worried about rushing to get somewhere, just relaxing and fulfilling my mind with the happy experiences and getting in touch with my inner self. Taking time to reflex and socialize with Tim Hall and his family and others, also the wonderful moments I spent with the next door neighbors. There's never any pressure as you relaxed and enjoyed the atmosphere that surrounds "Tubagua."
When I return to the Dom.Rep. "Tubagua"...Paradise on the mountain with the wonderful people and accommodations is on my calendar.

My wife and I have enjoyed long weekends at Tubagua Plantation Village now for a bit over a year and it just keeps getting better. Funny, but each trip has been a little different, whether it be exploring the nearby waterfalls on foot or scooting around the mountain roads on our ATV Honda, or getting hoarse from singing with friends who happened to bring their acoustic guitars.
Very cool place and best of all, it is close and safe. I actually hope it doesn't change much because we love it just like it is; on the funky side, in a good way. -

So, do you want a magical experience!!! Well go to TIm's spot on top of the hill where you can feel the magic of the island and witness it with all of your senses. The panoramic view is just a piece of what your heart will experience while staying there. Peace is the gift you will truly achieve. A true eco-lodge, so do not expect room service, but intend to groove with the magic of nature. If you are lucky enough that his beautiful family is there during your stay, than you will be
truly blessed for they are all amazing and precious gifts to the planet.. Tim is an angel and fully equipped to fulfill all of your basic needs. He has lived on the island forever and knows his way about. So, whatever you choose to experience, I know he will be able to direct you in the right direction I have traveled the world, But Tabagua holds my heart for eternity!!!!!!!!!!Tim and his incredible family, have become one of the most precious treasures of my life! And if you knew me that says a lot. And I can not even put into words how I feel about this magical place and the experience you will have choosing it. I give it a 10 plus plus plus!!! An exp[erience that can not be missed.!!! -

I was lucky enough to enjoy a stay at this spectacular site. I spend quite a bit of time traveling to hidden jewels in the DR and this one blew me away. You have an epic view, one that perches you over beautiful, rolling cane fields straight into the deep blue Atlantic.
If you are lucky enough to catch the owner, he is one of the most DR savvy English speakers on the island and he cooks as well as he spins a tale.
If you are lookiny for a real, natural DR experience, you need to spend some time here. -

The Dominican Republic has a lot of variety in accommodations but
this property is a MUST SEE. Not only do you get away from the hustle
and bustle of the cities and resort traps but the tranquility and
spectacular view from this mountain side retreat makes you feel like
you are on an entirely different island. What's even better is you still
stay within close proximity to the beaches and towns. Its simple, quiet,
beautiful and now one of my favorite places to stay and recharge my
batteries! I highly recommend Tubagua to anyone who wants to
experience something out of the ordinary. -

A number of us went to this place on new years eve/new years day after celebrating on the beach. I awoke (with a hangover)to the most breathtaking view of the north coast of the dominican republic. Our host Tim was great and alot of fun and knew alot about the area and was full of helpful suggestions. There were lots of places to sleep, and the beds were comfy and warm and set right into the side of the mountain for maximum scenery. This place was awesome I can't recommend it highly enough.
