Unless you buy a time share, you are a second class citizen
Left on 10/30/2011 for a stay in October 2011
The pictures were of the nice villas only members get...I was a member guest, and I was treated like a second class citizen! The villa was not properly cleaned, and was terribly sparse and outdated! The paint from the pool came off on out feet, and there were leaks in the ceiling. We finally got a new villa, which was a little bit nicer, but at least the pool was acceptable...though they never cleaned it. People would come, leave the cleaning supplies on the side of the pool and go away...only to return to collect the supplies, having never cleaned it! We even watched one throw trash over our fence wall into the "brush" behind it! The food was painfully bad! I actually lost weight on this vacation. From receiving moldy bread and cheese for breakfast, to inedible veggies and lobster, to burnt bisque! I even got food poisoning twice! Also, and probably the most grievous offense was concerning my food allergy. I'm allergic to cinnamon. I made sure to learn how to ask about it in Spanish before going. I asked before every desert, and was always told that it was canela free...5 times, however, I was lied to! After complaining every day, we got a visit from the Executive chef, who promised to personally prepare our dinner that evening...I told him of my allergy as well. At dinner, after I buttered my bread and took a bite, the maitre d' ran over and took the butter away...he apologized, and brought me some butter free of cinnamon...too late...I had already ingested it! The next morning, as a consolation prize, we received not only the mystery meat and shiny yellow cheese we were used to, but pancakes! Yay...I took a bite, and yep...cinnamon! We called, and they apologized...next morning...pancakes again! Yay...wait...cinnamon! Really? After receiving moldy cheese, moldy bread, and getting food poisoning twice, my friend and I resolved to eat potato chips bought at the market. Hardly worth the "all inclusive" rate of $67.50/day! We had a wasp problem...I'm not allergic to them, just afraid! Still, no one wants to be stung. I called and told them about the swarm, and 3 hours later a woman arrived with a can of bug spray...which she told me to go ahead and use myself! Really? I also cleaned the pool one day with the supplies left next to the pool! The beds were uncomfortable, but large! There was mold in the collection tray for the overflow on the dispenser for purified water...which I also had to clean myself. We had an aC unit that was terribly loud with strange noises...so we called. Three times we called, and each time, were told that it was fine. We asked them t fix the noise, and were told that it was normal! Then it broke! It took them over 6 hours to fix it...had they listened in the first place...who knows? It is a very large place, and you must take a shuttle everywhere (again...unless you are a member)...the shuttle is unreliable, and always late! There was much more to the story, but I think I've given you enough to make an informed decision.
My friend and I only wanted a relaxing vacation in a beautiful place, with good food...we got a pool.
We asked to receive some of our money back, and after getting the run around, and being told that we weren't worth the time (actually said to us), we were told that though the money was taken directly from my account, we had to go through the member! We did, and it's been two weeks. We still don't know if we will get at least a partial refund! I will stop payment if nothing is done! It really was that bad.
