A luxurious modern villa just 150 metres from the sea. Finca S'hort Den Pep De Barcares is in the exclusive resort of Barcares, just around the bay from Puerto Pollença and a short walk from Alcudia Old Town. It's a contemporary air-conditioned house in wonderful gardens with a fantastic pool and terrace.

Inside, the house is full of light and sunny space with hotel-style design and luxury in every room. It's also largely accessible to wheelchairs - with a lovely double bedroom and walk-in shower bathroom on the ground floor.

The main living space is hugely impressive with floor-to-ceiling windows along one wall, oversize sofas,... a flat-screen plasma tv and stereo system with extra speakers on the terrace, and a dining table and chairs. The kitchen is in white marble with high-spec appliances including a dishwasher and an American-style fridge-freezer. Also on the ground floor there's a second family bathroom.

There are four more spacious bedrooms on the first floor - two doubles and two twins that can also be made up as doubles. There's also plenty of room for extra beds - two are available for a supplement. All the first-floor bedrooms have en-suite wet-rooms with showers, complete with hairdryers.

The glamour, luxury and space continues in the gardens - with a long swimming pool surrounded by teak decking and cooled by sea breezes. There are lawns too and fruit trees, a barbecue and a table-tennis table.

The covered terrace is a fabulous space with funky cane sofas and dining chairs around a long table, and all shaded by a retractable awning. The gardens are very family-friendly and the pool area is very private with open views across fields and trees to the National Park of La Victoire.

Finca S'hort Den Pep De Barcares is a wonderful sea-side villa ideal for large groups, just 150 metres from the sea and the sandy golden beach of Platja Es Corral d'en Bennassar - with Barcares beach also close by, and Alcudia Old Town just 300 metres away. It's also just a few minutes' drive to more beaches, shops and restaurants in Puerto Pollença.

With respect to the location of the villa, the property hadn't been built when the google earth image was taken.

  Great Villa but Check Before you Go!

  Yes, this villa is lovely : great position on the right side of alcudia (which is walkable) and very close to a beach which is a mix of sand and rocks but very safe for children where there is a somewhat tacky but very handy beachbar. Great views of the mountains from the villa, great outside spaces to eat and relax, great pool and well equipped kitchen. On the far side of alcudia is a very good supermarket (it would have been nice to have information about various things like this in the villa) and beyond is the very busy port and beaches of Pollensia where the sand is ideal for children with a very safe, attractive bay area where the water is warm and shallow and there are loungers and parasols which can be rented for the day. There are some good, some tacky, shops and the bars and restaurants off the main drag are preferable if you want to get away from the noise! All this meant that our villa was very well placed and peaceful in a very quiet residential area so it was very good in this way. Villa Parade list this villa as one of their Platinum villas but in view of the following, this is not a fair description.
  
  We went from 9th to 16th June 2012 and would be interested to know if anyone else has had a similar experience to ours regarding what was wrong with the villa and if anything has since been done to rectify our list of things as follows:
  
  We arrived at three fifteen expecting to be able to get into the villa only to find the cleaners still in residence and were told to come back in an hour - not much fun when you have little children in tow. The cleaning was therefore probably rushed and the patio furniture wasnt moved to clean underneath.
  
  The entrance gate was broken and could not be shut so there was no security for the children as mentioned in the brochure. The garage door was also broken and could not be shut and since there was access to the inside of the villa via a staircase from the garage which was only secured by an easily forced lock, this was another security issue.
  
  The downstairs jacuzzi bathroom door would not open from the inside once the door had been shut (even though there was no lock on the door either) thus trapping inside anyone using it and very frightening for young children when trapped in there! The only way out was through the window onto the terrace This was reported to the local office on the day after we arrived but no-one came until Tuesday and we were then told it could not be fixed!
  
  There were two safety deposit boxes, neither of which worked and one was down in the utility room which had open access to the garage and therefore accessible from the street! Certainly not a safe place to leave anything valuable. Since we paid £15 for the minor breakage charge/safety deposit box rental, this was a nonsense!
  
  The towels were certainly not up to the standard of even a three star hotel since they were grubby grey and stained even before we used them. They were a mixture of good and bad with the bad being almost threadbare (one tore as soon as my husband tried to dry his back) and although they were changed on Wednesday the mix was just the same. I would have preferred to have brought my own – not exactly platinum standard!
  
  The BBQ was broken and therefore hot residue from the cooking would leak on to the patio.
  
  It took three days for the air-conditioning in our bedroom to be mended. It wasn't working from the time we arrived and although we reported it, it must have been broken before the last visitors.
  
  Apart from one hook in each of the bathrooms, there are no shelves at all so nowhere to put even a toothbrush except on the floor and nowhere to hang the towels apart from the one hook! Hardly a luxury fitted bathroom.
  
  The WiFi did not work on our arrival and although it was fixed on the Monday, this surely must have been reported by the previous tenants.
  
  We complained about all these things and nothing was rectified during our stay and we were never visited by the Villa Parade representative to whom we reported these problems during our stay, which was the least we would have expected in the circumstances.
  
  Other smaller issues were that the Ipod dock did not work, one hair drier did not work and some bulbs were broken. We also felt the specific instructions for the house were inadequate with no details on the hot tub nor information about the local area and beaches. Dont be fooled by the look of the inside furniture - the sofa has a somewhat grubby orange throw over it to hide its age!
  
  Although this is a very nice villa and would probably recommend it, I would strongly advise that you check with Villa Parade before booking that the important security and safety features have been rectified (get it in writing too even though their administration in replying to e-mails is very bad) and that something has been done about the smaller details listed above!
