A grand and airy house in the hills outside Puerto Pollenca with wonderful sweeping views down to the bay. El Vila is a lovely residential area in the San Vicente mountains and this villa has been designed to make the most of its fantastic location. It's also close to sea - less than 5 minutes' drive or a 30-minute walk.
The villa is built on the slopes of the San Vicente mountains and has lovely light and bright rooms on three different levels. Steps lead down through the gardens to the main door of the house.
Inside the main house, the rooms have white walls and terracotta-tiled floors - and most of the rooms have amazing views... down to the bay of Puerto Pollenca or across the countryside of the Sierra de San Vicente. On the entrance level there's a long split-level lounge and dining room with high picture windows along two walls. There are two dining tables here and comfortable sofas facing each other in front of an open fire. The large farmhouse kitchen has lots of storage and work space in fitted cupboards with marble worktops. Appliances here include a dishwasher and an unusual bread-oven style cooker. Again the kitchen opens out onto a terrace with wonderful views and the feature barbecue here is perfect for al-fresco dining with a superb view.
There are two twin bedrooms on the ground floor, which share a bathroom with a bath and a shower. The main double bedroom is on the upper level and again has beautiful sea views from the large balcony here. It also has an en-suite bathroom with a bath and a shower. All the bedrooms have air-conditioning and lovely antique Mallorcan dark-wood beds and bright white linen.
There's lots of well-designed outside space at the house making the most of its high position looking down to the sea. There's a large sun-terrace around a clover-shaped pool and a separate barbecue terrace with its own small kitchen. There are a number of steps around this area so very young children and the elderly may not find it ideal.
Villa El Vila is a gorgeous house in an amazing location. It's a very welcoming Mallorcan home - owned by an art professional who displays his own collection of paintings in the house. It's the perfect base for a holiday with family or friends, in a great area in the hills and still just a short drive from the sea and resort of Puerto Pollenca.
The pedestrian walkway into Puerto Pollenca has now been extended to this villa - making it easier to get into the Port on foot.
