AUSTIN, TEXASBreathtaking
Left on 03/04/2013 for a stay in February 2013
Pictures don't do it justice. This place is so beautiful it has a bit of everything! Seclusion if you want.(honeymoon)A ride to private beach. A driver to take you to underground river tour,Honda bay, diving ,shopping.(thanks,Jhol) we had my brother his wife, my Grand-babies,niece and her family. We had plenty of room with the villa and the house. Beautiful, clean and of course REY, Indy and Winnie. Thank-you for everything! They help you with everything cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping. They made us feel like kings and queens.I'M a mother of 7 children always on the go and of course I loved relaxing not having to do much. Now my daughter's family and nieces family young Whipper snaps. Went snorkeling, diving, and shopping. My niece and family raved how comfortable the beds were in the villa. The house is very spacious and bedrooms gorgeous and comfortable. The place is breathtaking, words can't describe how beautiful and serene it is.The house is beautifully decorated, clean and then I love all the outdoors. The food REY and the woman fixed was delicious. I'VE been to Hawaii and this place is exquisite. The fresh fruit, coconut water REY gets for you. All the amenities you need. My only regret we didn't stay longer. Thanks, Nelly for letting us stay at your lovely place.

We Love Jimbo!
Australia, SydneyVery Memorable Stay!
Left on 03/03/2010 for a stay in February 2010
We were really excited when we saw the pictures of the home before we booked it, and we were even happier when we arrived to the Hidden Hills Home. We arrived at night, and it was an amzing sight. the stairs that led to the house were lit by lamps, making it look mysterious and inviting.
We were really pleased when we got to the villa. It was big and spacious, and decorated really well. Every corner of house had a personality. Loved the decor in the bedroom, the bathroom and toilet looked really cool. We all wished we could stay there for longer.
The caretakers (Kris and Mar) and their dog "Jimbo" were very welcoming. We felt at home right away. Kris and Mar helped us prepare our food and plan out our days. We looked forward to having fresh seafood (Kris and Mar bought it for us from the fishermen who drop by the property...bargain for really good quality seafood!) Jimbo- their dog was really inviting. He 's very friendly. We enjoyed being greeted by Jimbo after our day trips and when we come out in the morning.
During our stay the underground River was closed (which is the main attraction of puerto princesa), which was quite disappointing, but Kris and Mar told us to just visit the undisturbed beaches close by...which we really enjoyed.
The property is a bit far from the city (30 mins drive), but we preferred staying at the property than in the city, as there wasn'tmuch things to do in the city proper, we had heaps of fresh air, and food was a lot fresher.
The Roof of the house has an undisturbed and priceless view. We loved sitting out there for breakfast.
We really loved every part of the house, and we considered it our home too during our stay. I would recommend this to anyone, young or old. Would definitely stay here again in our next visit to puerto princesa. -

ManilaBest time of our lives....
Left on 01/06/2010 for a stay in November 2009
Hidden Hills is simply beautiful...truly a home away from home! Greek architecture and art influences are manifested in the entire house. The powder and bathrooms always smell of fresh citronella from the farm itself. The staff (Cristy & Mar) are absolutely nice...very caring, respectful, and jolly. Their warm and sincere smiles welcomed us after a tiring journey from Manila (lest I forget Jimbo the dog with a scarf...he's part of the welcoming team too!). The place is a perfect hideaway....fresh air, clean, serene, and very close to virgin white beaches...places you will not normally find in your Puerto Princesa tour book (ask Cris & Mar and they'll tell you where these are) :-) Water is so clear (especially in Dos Palmas); you can snorkel anywhere! And fresh bounty from the sea abound!! Just ask a local fisherman to buy their catch...it's so cheap! And the Underground River is totally amazing! Note of warning, just be very careful with sand flies & planktons that abound Puerto Princesa beaches in general (don't worry...there's none at Hidden Hills)...their nasty bites will totally spoil your vacation!! Learn how to avoid them thru online help. It pays to be prepared. Enjoy Hidden Hills..enjoy Puerto Princesa! :-)

Laguna, PHA wonderful place to spend quality time with family!
Left on 01/02/2010 for a stay in July 2009
A wonderful place to spend quality time with family!..or alone too! As a senior citizen that always lived in the city... i think that i can live longer if i were to stay here (Hidden Hills) forever... fresh air, fresh food, peaceful, and beautiful!
The staff made me feel like i own the place.. "you live like a queen hahaha" with great staff... Kris, the housekeeper is also a great cook and Mar, the friendly gardener gave me a hand at harvesting my fruits & flowers for the day too! what else can I ask for?
I loved the smell of early morning breeze.. i slept at the hammock a couple of times.. birds humming was all i heard.. what a treat! i also liked walking around the village with warm people & the afternoon stroll at the virgin white beach nearby.
A perfect "home away from home". I wish to come back again with my "amigas" too!

FIREWATER
Burbank, CA., U.S.A.Nice Place with Issues
Left on 11/16/2009 for a stay in September 2009
Nelly is the owner of this beautiful home she calls a "Villa". Nelly kept all her promises and we were pleased with our stay. The staff on the premises were superb and they did a fantastic job of making us feel very comfortable. I strongly suggest that you pay the extra money for the daily cooking service. I think if Nelly would have her own transportation service available for her guests, she would make her guests happier and comfortable. If that option was available and part of the deal, I would definitely return to the Villa.
Issues that made us unhappy:
1. The home is nestled in a very private area and it is a bit too far from the city of Puerto Princesa. Transportation can get very expensive and the van service offered would run about $40-$60 U.S. roundtrip each time. We ended up hiring a motorbike with a sidecar. It appears that the folks controlling the transportation and tourist vans are monopolized. We tried renting a car for the week, but they informed us that renting a car must include their own driver. Renting a car from the airport is no longer available. I am sure some dirty politicians passed this legislation to make sure their tourist vans are kept busy.
2. Nelly's Villa was very nice overall, but they need to get an electric generator. The power in the home goes out at least twice a day for several hours. This was extremely inconvenient and dangerous. Inconvenient, because the water pressure drops when the electricity shuts off and so does the air conditioner. Dangerous, because the lights go out usually when you are taking a shower and its pitch dark. Safety lights do go on only in the living room.
3. Internet reception through a wireless card is the only way to get internet access. The signal is very weak even on the third floor terrace.

Hidden Hills (The Holiday Shop Vacation Homes)
Owner
We would like to thank Mr. Carlos for sharing his experiences at Hidden Hills. It is surprising however, that the note he left in our guestbook is superb and did not mention anything about the above issues.
We endeavor to keep our guests well informed about what to expect ie. distance, description of immediate surroundings, including cost of trips and tours, etc. from the time of quotation even way before a reservation is made.
This is also to clarify on some points that do not sound fair enough and may also be misguiding:
1. TRANSPORTATION::
We use and recommend CITY TOURISM accredited drivers w/ LTFRB franchised vans for guests SAFETY. These vans/drivers have had necessary trainings and are required to keep their vehicles in safe and clean condition. They follow standard prices and are not allowed to quote otherwise.. they can actually be a little flexible to give discounts if you are friendly enough; but definitely not to overprice. Guests are free to use their own contacts and make their own arrangements.
As Mr. Carlos had chosen to make his own arrangements and dealt with a non-registered driver, we therefore are not in position to comment on that.
2. POWER OUTAGE / BROWN OUT::
Brownouts DO NOT HAPPEN EVERYDAY! Power fluctuations / shortage in Palawan is a fact. We are lucky to have electricity 24 / 7 as compared to other areas in the province where generator use for a few hours is the only source. The brown-out that occurred during Mr. Carlos’ stay was due to the government’s street lighting project in the area.. which had been explained by our staff and was also well understood by Mr. Carlos. Nevertheless, we regret that the said government project caused such inconvenience.
3. INTERNET RECEPTION::
Speed & reception quality all over Palawan fluctuates a lot. It also may depend on the type and capacity of the laptop / broadband modem that you use. Nevertheless, 99% if not 100% of our guests that required internet connection did not have any problem nor any complaint whatsoever that we know of except for Mr. Carlos'. Signal is also available not only at the rooftop terrace but also at the living & dining areas and some areas outdoors. We are glad to say that we even had speedier internet connection than some internet cafes in town.
We hope that this response is helpful to all!
