Description from the owner

Casa Beata is a newly re-decorated 15th floor condo at Sea River Tower has the highly coveted south view, towards the city across the pool and bay. Unobstructed views are only part of this condo's attractiveness. A private view balcony for morning coffees (while watching whales, in season, or dolphins cruise by in the bay) or evening cocktails accompanied by heart-stopping sunsets make this condo a perfect romantic getaway, or place to just relax and refresh. Casa Beata has a newly renovated, fully equipped kitchenette with breakfast bar, tons of cabinets (great for longer rentals), four stove top burners, convection oven, lots of counter spa...Read more

Excellent beachfront condo with amazing ocean views in superior

Left on 03/24/2013 for a stay in March 2013

We arrived two weeks ago, having never been to PV before. Following the instructions of our host, we managed to avoid all the timeshare reps at the airport and secured a taxi straight to the resort. 15 minutes after picking up our bags, we were checking in.

Casa Beata is a clean roomy jr suite on the 15th floor of Sea River towers. Full sized refrigerator, 4-burner stove, microwave and conventional oven allow meal preparation in the room if you wish. All cooking utensils, dishes and cutlery are provided. We chose to visit many local markets to purchase groceries and prepared many of our own meals in the room. It's less than 1km to Walmart and Soriana supermarkets, but we preferred the local markets as you get fresher food and get to interact with the local people.

Tours are available for purchase on-site, or you can haggle with the dreaded time-share presenters for better deals. We participated in three great tours - "Marigalante Pirate Ship adventure" (warning - evening show is a bit risque for children, afternoon show is more geared to them); "Discovery El Eden" (Bus tour of old city, tequila factory tour, and visit to remote setting in Sierra Madre mountains with zip-lines, "Predator" movie set, waterfall swimming and an exceptional restaurant); and "Rythms of the Night" (evening boat cruise to a private beach, very good romantic candlelight buffet, and exceptional show a-la "Cirque du Soleil"). Tomorrow we will be taking the Marietas Island eco-adventure tour, where we plan to do some snorkelling.

In addition to tours, we spent many relaxing days and evenings on the Malecon. It is a festival unto itself! We visited Bucerius to the north of PV. A great day-trip if you want to get away from PV for a while. We also just wandered around a lot - on beaches, through old town, and -yes- on the Malecon.

Transportation around town is quick and efficient. Taxis are everywhere but if you want the real PV experience, take the buses. They are just as fast as taxis, way cheaper, and promise a ride not to be missed. Hang on tight and hold onto your children!

The vendors on the beach are hilarious once you get to know them. Yes, they try to sell you on overpriced souvenirs, but there is a lot of room to bargain. They all have unique personalities and stories. Marco the shirt man, Baldo with sunglasses, and alex with jewellery are great characters. The 'muffin' man and the shrimp skewer girls have great snacks.

You can purchase an all-inclusive option if you wish - we chose not to. There are hundreds of great restaurants in PV to choose from. We prepared breakfast in our room and then usually had a main meal at a restaurant. We never visited the same place twice in 2 weeks. Highlights include Pipi's, La Dolce Vita, Bubba Gump Shrimp, Murphy's Irish Pub, Si Senor on El Muerto Beach, Cheeky Monkey (for the $1 Margaritas), and our favorite, El Gordo-Fat Boy Beach restaurant in Bucerius.

Staff at the resort are all friendly and very helpful. Freddy at the front desk, Hilde the housekeeper, and Enrique the beach bar server are standouts.

Perhaps the most outstanding things on this trip are the little unexpected surprises:
      - stumbling on a jazz festival on Las Muertos beach
      - going kayaking and being joined by a pod of 12-15 dolphins
      - waking up this morning to see whales in the bay 250m off our balcony

and then there are the sunsets!

      A truly great vacation.

      Casa Beata

Left on 09/06/2011 for a stay in November 2010

We have stayed at Casa Beata on three different occasions. Each time we found the condo to be very clean and fully equiped. The kitchen has everything that is needed to prepare a meal if that is your choice.

The views are great - - especially to the south toward El Centro.

The pool is large and clean and getting a lounge chair or beach towel has never been a problem.

A first rate supermarket and mall are a five minute walk from the condo.

Cabs are available right in front of the condo - - and the city buses are available a few steps further.

The condo meets all our needs and we would readily recommend it to all who want a relaxing stay - - or for that matter those who wish to visit the old city. The location could not be better..

We really enjoyed our stay. The pool is warm and huge. The beach is sandy and swam
right in front of the hotel. We bought food close by and cooked some. The restaurant was
good if you didn't feel like cooking. Taxi's in front of hotel and buses down the driveway.

      Holiday Inn

Left on 01/21/2010 for a stay in December 2009

Casa Beata, at the Sea River Towers, was a pleasant condo with great views and comfortable beds. Our maid was very good when cleaning and resupplying the room. There were problems with the in room safe, and the full size refrigerator had frozen up due to non-use - - but both problems were addressed immediately by the on site property managers in spite of the holiday season.

Holdiay Inn is at best a 2.5 to 3 star resort - - not the 5 stars as advertised. Having vacationed 28 times in Puerto Vallarta there is no comparison when comparing the HI to such hotels as the Marival which is rated 4.5 stars. Marival is ten times better in every detail.

After "sampling" the Holdiay Inn food we were immensely happy that we did not opt for the "All Inclusive" package. While we are not hard to please - - the food was God awful. The sewer smells coming from beneath the out door resturant - - right by the entrance - - were so bad that we saw two people vomit as they exited or entered the resturant during our three week stay. Cheeseburgers at the outdoor palapa for luch were o.k. and reasonable priced - - but pool side drinks were way over priced and they could not find a bottle of bourbon the entire time. DO NOT GO ALL INCLUSIVE. There are many great resturants in P.V. and surrounds that are quite reasonable.

Internet service was very spotty and expensive and NOT available in most of the upper level rooms. Each day people lugged their laptops to the lobby for a usable signal - - hoping that the service would be "up" for the day. We went without any service for 4 straight days at one point.

The location was great and within a short walking distance to supermarkets and malls. Transportation by bus to and from town was easy and cheap. Taxis were availalbe right in front of the hotel.

I would hope that Holdiay Inn sees fit to remove the "condo sales people" that "greet" you right at the elevators as you enter or exit. What a pain!!!

Thanks, David, for your helpful comments. Casa Beata has just paid to have its own wi-fi brought in through a private company, since the Holiday Inn service just does not provide the level of speed and convenience that we want for our guests. Now you know why we recommend guests do not use the all-inclusive, and warn them about timeshare sales people. You are spot on!

      great stay

Left on 01/10/2010 for a stay in November 2009

Everything was just great with the room. The views were amazing and we
had a fantastic holiday. It was great having a grocery store a block away to
eat some of our meals in the room was fun.
The toaster oven had a note on it to not use it so we were kind of stuck
making sandwiches and toast. The railings on the balcony felt a little low
and unstable so we made sure our kids were aware to stay back from them
and not lean on them. My husband is tall and could easily have fallen over
      without any effort.
The enjoyment we had going on the bus daily to the Malecon was definitely
a must do. Our kids thought it was like a roller coaster ride especially when
there was no sitting room and they had to stand and hold on.
One problem that I would have about it was that we called and asked for
assistance 3 times regarding our refrigerator not cooling properly. We think
someone came to look each time but the problem never improved. Towards
the end of our stay, we just decided to use ice to keep it cold. This seemed
to work OK even if it was inconvenient.
All in all our holiday was great and will be remembered forever as a great
      time had by all.

Glad you enjoyed your visit. We will have the refrigerator checked. I'm wondering whom you called. There is contact information for the property management company in the condo, and they are the ones who handle repairs in privately owned condos. The hotel management has no responsibility in that regard. The owner was just in the condo, and bought new small appliances, so if there was a problem with the toaster oven, I'm sure that has been rectified.

Glad you had a wonderful time. I hope you will come back soon. The views are phenomenal from the 15th floor, aren't they?
