Additional Location Information
Unlike many other popular beach vacation resorts, Puerto Vallarta is actually several destinations in one. Situated on the Pacific Coast of Mexico just south of Baja California, the Banderas Bay area offers more than 34 miles of incomparable coastline in the states of Jalisco and Nayarit - and innumerable activities that are affordable and easily accessible.
For those who just want to relax, miles and miles of beautiful golden sand beaches offer one of the best ways to experience the beauty and magic of the Bay of Banderas. And with 322 days of sunshine annually and an average temperature of 80 degrees F, Puerto Vallarta is one of the few places on Earth that can boast an "ideal" climate for sun worshipers.
Swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, sailing whale watching and sportsfishing await you in the warm, clear waters of Banderas Bay and the Mexican Pacific. On land you can explore the Sierra Madre Mountains and jungles on an exciting excursion provided by one of the area's many professional tour operators. If you prefer to do a little exploring on your own, the quiet pleasures and local colors of Mexico are waiting to be discovered in a variety of unique and inviting fishing villages and beachside retreats.

If you want to experience Puerto Vallarta, I encourage you to stay at Casa Juanita. Location is perfect, close to amenities.
The service was excellent, and the view extraordinary.
Great experience overall, no complaints.
If you would rather experience a resort experience... well this is not the place to be, if you want a vacation, seize the opportunity! -

We found this apartment on Tripadvisor and although initially we were a little disappointed we came to find it's rustic charm enamoring.
We arrived around 3 pm and this is not the best time of day to see this apartment. The rusted needed to be replaced (and it was after a few days) dish drain, the curious artwork and the overall feel of the place was less than full-out appealing upon our arrival.
But within one sunset and morning later - that changed and we became quite fond of "our" quirky apartment. The location was across the street from two restaurants that I reviewed - Esquina de los Caprichos and one block away from Mediterranean Cafe and Bakery.
The initial frustration on seeing Casa Juanita was based on the fact that it's just a little bit shabby, and because of it's design and location - with a little more care and attention to detail - it could be outstanding. I already mentioned the dish drain but the towels were kind of tired and there were no paper towels and we ran out of toilet paper. We bought the last 2 items.
In the end we were very glad to be there and we did recommend it to friends. It's relaxing, despite the increase in loud PV late night music from the clubs near the water below us. -

Not for the unfit as the apartment is situated on a steep hill, but once there the climb is well worth it. Owner charming and helpful. The furnishing are a little tired but for us did not detract. Would we return? Yes.
Open plan living was the plus with a well equipped kitchen. Weekly maid which was nice as we stayed for three weeks. Little shop which was well stocked close by. Nice Tapas restaurant opposite.
One quickly gets used to the sound of the church bells, but on our first Friday night we heard disco music coming from the Malacon until 5-am! This never occurred again thank goodness. -

San FranciscoPerfect place to stay

Its view is consistently stunning and it comes equipped with most all amenities. You can cook comfortably like at home. Even in June, the fans did a fairly adequate job of keeping the open aired house comfortable. I loved hanging out in the living room watching the sunset. It's location is great, in el centro. I've lived in Vallarta and visited many times, have stayed in many hotels and found this to be my favorite place to stay. The tapas place accross the street is one of my favorite restaraunts in PV too! Definitely stay here. I would only caution elders, or those with disabilities to avoid it because the hill is very steep, hence the view.

Beautiful view, the ocean was right in front of us. Hanging out in the living room was just as fun as going out. The apt was incredibly convienient, very close to amazing restaurants and bars. Don't miss out on the tapas place across the street, we went there 3 times!

San Francisco, CaliforniaBest spot in Puerto Vallarta!
Left on 07/09/2012 for a stay in June 2012
This was my second stay at Casa Vina Del Mar and it was even better than the first. This is a very charming penthouse apartment in a 3 unit building. The first time I stayed I came with many friends and we rented all three apartments. A great choice to save money and still have some privacy at night.
The penthouse and middle apartments have open air living rooms so you always have a breeze and a breathtaking view of the bay. All apartments are fully furnished with dishes, linen, towels, etc. plus ceiling fans in every room.
The location is a cheap taxi ride (about $20) from the airport and once you are there a car is not necessary; you can walk to the store, many restaurants, and the Malycon. The apartment is on a hill but this adds to the amazing views and if you're too tired to climb the hill a taxi will take you for less than five dollars. I love staying away from the americanized resorts/hotels and getting a real taste of Puerto Vallarta. Everyone in the neighborhood is very friendly and the area feels very safe.
Can't wait to return to Casa Juanita the next time I'm in PV! -

Great vacation rental in puerto Vallarta . Only a few blocks off of the Malechon, it is close to the beach and shopping, but far enough away from the noise that you can still sleep at night.

San Francisco, California, United StatesAmazing apartment with Great Views/Location
Left on 07/06/2012 for a stay in August 2010
I stayed in the 2nd floor apartment at Casa Vina del Mar with friends in august 2010. We rented the entire property with our group, so I had a chance to see all 3 units. They are all clean and well-appointed, a great bargain for the price being offered. The second floor and top floor units are open air, which is great for the climate. The penthouse/top-floor is the best, great for hanging out and hosting dinners and small gatherings. Nicely equipped kitchen, as well.
It has a great view of old town Vallarta, the church, and the Pacific. Very convenient location to the beach and shopping districts. It is up a small hill, which makes it feel very private and like you are truly in a neighborhood of the city. There are several nice restaurant options steps away, including and amazing tapas restaurant and a vegetarian place(a rarity).
The place itself, while not exactly luxurious, gives you a feeling of living it up, mostly due to the views/location above it all. The apartment are tastefully decorated, yet feel homey. They have everything you need while traveling and our check-in/out experience was super smooth and worry-free.
Thanks Casa Vina del Mar for a great stay. Top recommendation! -

San FranciscoAwesome apartment get-away
Left on 07/11/2011 for a stay in June 2011
Casa Juanita is a charming apartment in Old Vallarta that I can't recommend highly enough. I stayed there for 8 days and had a marvelous vacation. It is a few blocks up the hill from many major streets, so it has a quieter and more residential feel without being too far from all the shops and eateries you'll need.
The open air kitchen and living room are simply amazing living spaces, and really convenient for longer visits. The kitchen was pretty well stocked with cookware and whatnot. I much prefer the apartment feel to a hotel, although I did appreciate the maid service once a week. The sunsets are more brilliant than these pictures can really capture, as are the views.
It was clean, comfortable, and very livable. I am going to return, hopefully for a longer period of time!

We have been vacationing in Puerto Vallarta for twenty years. Two years ago we started staying downtown and now wished we had done that years ago. Some friends introduced us to Casa Juanita where we have stayed for the last two vacations and plan on staying there again this year. Everything you could need is with in walking distance, i.e. great restaurants, shopping, art galleries,
food markets, beaches and bars. Be prepared to walk some steep roads as Casa Vina del Mar is on a hill which accounts for the magnificent views. Because it is located near many activities light sleepers should bring a pair of ear plugs. The management is very accommadating and professional. We are looking forward to returning and highly recommend Casa Juanita. -

Staten Island, NYCasa Juanita a Hidden Gem
Left on 11/05/2010 for a stay in January 2010
Casa Juanita in Casa Vina Del Mar is a hidden gem. The living room has No Walls! Just an expansive and amazing view of the entire Bay of Banderas, accentuated by the close proximity of the "cathedral” steeple. It has a great back story which connects it to the early expat days in PV (owned by John Huston's secretary). The architecture and feel of the place harks back to those days in a charming way. Centrally located but above the hub-bub. You would never guess that the amphitheatre on the Malecon is a short five-block walk in one direction, the Isla de Cuale a short five-block walk in another direction. There is a quaint little tapas restaurant across the street, a great vegetarian restaurant down the hill, and the fashionable Hacienda San angel down the block. Friendly management. Reasonably priced. I come back every year.
