Description from the manager
This is a NEW PROPERTY for me, backed by 12 years of experience in renting homes in PV. Casa Rivera del Rio is a great home on the River in Puerto Vallarta between El Centro and Old Town. You can walk to everything in Vallarta. This beautifully remodeled home has three bedrooms and 4 baths and will sleep up to 10 in beds.
The home is furnished with beautiful furnishing from Mexico with a very eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary. If you are looking for a great vacation for your family or group of friends, this is the perfect home with lots of space and a great location in the heart of the "real" Puerto Vallarta.

Great Falls MontanaA Wonderful Suprise in the Middle of the Real Mexico!
Left on 03/22/2012 for a stay in February 2012
What a great vacation!
I come to Vallarta almost every year with friends and I'm always looking for alternative places to stay. We absolutely loved Casa Rivera del Rio. The home is beautiful and the service provided was 5 star for sure.
We loved the location. Most of our time is spent shopping, beaching and dining in El Centro and the Romantic Zone so this was perfect for us. We even ventured out to find a couple of great new restaurants right in the neighborhood. The Mexican people in the area are so friendly and watching them go about their daily lives was real treat. So much more interesting then the resort areas.
The staff who assisted us with airport pick up, some restaurant suggestions and few other things around the house were very gracious and really nice to work with. The booking process was very easy from beginning to end.
We will definitely be back and this may be our new home away from home in Vallarta.

San Clemente Calif.beautiful home but not easy to access

Six of us, all in our 60's stayed at Casa de la Riveria the first of Feb. 2012. The home is lovely but it was very difficult to find - we ended up calling the staff to take us to the location. Once there we realized it is 4 levels with stairs. Being in our 60's this was not comfortable for many of us and somehow we missed this when we booked the condo. The basement bedroom was very spacious but had a damp smell (even with a fan going) typical of a basement. The neighborhood was picturesque but noisy with music into the night and roosters at all hours.
I personally enjoyed my stay and liked the Mexican atmospere but others in our party did not.
If you are considering this home read all the information and ask questions that are important to you before making reservations.Response from Jeffery Hill - 03/18/2012

Many places in Puerto Vallarta are difficult to find by taxi which is why we offer airport pickup to make the process easy. It's a great location between Old Town and El Centro so you can walk to everything. Mexican towns are not laid out like those in other areas so you can't necessarily expect all cab drivers to know all locations.
In Vallarta, there are steps everywhere. you either have them in your home or to get to your home. When you have great views, you have steps to get to up to where you see them. Many of the Mexican homes are built next to each other similar to the townhomes of San Francisco so you have steps to get to the various floors.
So many of my guests this part of PV and my homes and condos in this area are some of my most popular for those who want the feel of Mexico. I have other places that are in areas with more foreign homeowners and less of the Mexican flavor.
With a home as beautiful as Casa Rivera del Rio and the perfect location, it's hard to imagine you wouldn't have a wonderful location, but everyone is different.

Left on 12/16/2011 for a stay in April 2011
We've stayed at Casa de la Riviera several times during the past few years, and quite simply just love the place. Its location partakes of both of the worlds of Vallarta--the old town and the more modern area north of the river. The house is on the Rio Cuale, on the south bank across from "Gringo Gulch", where Richard Burton and Liz Taylor built houses after the filming of Night of the Iguana. It's still a Mexican neighborhood, with the smells of the bakery wafting up in the morning before the goods are delivered, and the sounds of the birds moving along the river. My favorite things: being able to cross the footbridge onto the island and walk to the beach away from roads and traffic, then along the malecon either to my favorite beach bars to the south or to the north for a stroll with the masses in the evening; the little places to eat in the Mercado just a few blocks southeast where you can still get a big plate of shrimp for about $4; Jorge's taco stand around the corner; a stroll up the river; and just hanging out morning and evening on the patio.
The work that was recently completed has made staying there just so much more of a joy. Making coffee on the patio in the morning has been a delight. Watching the moon from the tippy top of the house ditto. It's just so much more comfortable overall. Now that Jeffery has worked his magic, I can't wait to get back! -

SeattleDelightful Rental in the Heart of Puerto Vallarta
Left on 11/23/2011 for a stay in January 2010
This home in the Old Town district of Puerto Vallarta was comfy, spacious, convenient, and located in a safe "real Mexican" neighborhood in P.V. It gave me an opportunity to fit in like a "local" when in reality I was just an adventuresome "tourista."
I stayed at Casa de la Riveriea with several friends prior to the recent re-model and upgrades. We found it plenty large enough to afford individual privacy, yet cozy and well-equipped with all the conveniences necessary to make our vacation hassle-free and memorable.
We walked every day to the beach, Malecon, and most of the well-known shops and restaurants around town (10-20 min walk) or hitched an inexpensive cab ride if we felt lazy or were in a hurry. You can even jump aboard the local bus to get around for just a few pesos and really blend in with the friendly local folks.
I hope to stay at Casa de la Riveria again in the near future. I'm guessing that the new decor and upgraded furnishings will bump this property into 5-star territory. -William -

Eugene OregonTrue Luxury in the middle of the "Real" Mexico
Left on 11/21/2011 for a stay in November 2011
I had the opportunity of visiting the casa just as the weather turned to perfect (by Eugene Standards) and spending afternoons lounging on the sun deck and in the open lounge on the top floor was incredible.
This place is situated in the middle of the "hood" of old PV. You are surrounded by families, grocery stores, markets (there is a bakery right next door!) and the hustle and bustle of neighborhood life. But inside the house and on the deck over looking the river and Gringo Gulch beyond, you surrender to tranquility.
The place is beautiful with nice appointments. We felt we had for our week stay, a luxury home in Mexico that was all our own.
One of the things we really liked was our daily to the beach, the shops of the town and to the Malacone at night. The island in the river is very close to the house and is a beautiful city park. It's path makes for a quiet and cool walk to your destination. On the island are restaurants, a music school and a wonderful sculpture of John Huston.
We enjoyed our stay and hated to leave. We got to experience the culture and learn much about this beautiful country. We had stayed previously in Cabo but thinking back about that experience, it was like staying in San Diego compared to our week at Casa le la Riveria.

SeattleA wonderful place!
Left on 11/16/2011 for a stay in November 2011
We were the first guests to stay at the house after the owners finished their remodel. We absolutely loved it! The house was beautifully decorated and was uniquely cool. Everything was so inviting and comfortable. When we arrived, the kitchen was stocked with fruit and water and as we requested, beer, guacamole, fresh salsa and chips! We immediately felt completely at home but in Mexico. Perfect!
The house had many quiet places to settle in and relax. We especially enjoyed the upstairs with its almost outdoor living room and little cucina out on the deck. We made our coffee out there each day and spent hours looking at the view of Gringo Gulch across the river and the green hillsides beyond. We loved the sound of the river and the birds; once a flock of little green parrots showed up. One day we took a bus far up river and hiked and swam up the river from there. It was amazing how quickly we found ourselves deep in the jungle--and then on the way back had the best $25 peso chicken quesadillas in the world at some little place by the river.
The location was ideal for us. It's in a true neighborhood and also close to the beach, malacon and neighborhood markets and restaurants. When my husband and I travel, we much prefer a place that's part of the real life wherever we are, which rules out a lot of condo and resort settings for us. Here in our pretty retreat, we woke up to the smell of a neighborhood bakery, looked down from the deck to watch the chickens running around or burro passing by and kids swimming in the river (we swam right outside the house too!), watched a neighborhood fiesta. Then out for beach time or street tacos or a nice dinner nearby. It just doesn't get better!
The whole experience was a joy. We hated to leave and can't wait to come back to Casa de la Rivera. Oh! They provide a maid! I wasn't sure I'd like that but having Heide come in to take care of the place and us was icing on the cake. Thanks to Jeffery and his staff!
