Dublin, IrelandFantastic hospitality in a wonderful space - highly recommended

Arriving in the Galpon after a very long journey I was delighted with my very comfortable room with private bathroom, the great kitchen and extensive lounge area. It was immediately relaxing and easy and I loved it.
The Galpon is very convenient just three or four minutes from the centre of Puerto Varas and all the action of the lake front. There is no shortage of interesting places to visit either on foot, by bus,car or if you fancy bike and boat! Osorno volcano is centre view and a focal point in this beautiful land. Puerto Varas is busy and full of activities and people interested in helping you go to whereever you choose - Frutillar, Osorno, Ensenada, Puerto Montt, Ciloé. Hornopien etc in fact it's an excellent location from which to explore Patagonia and you can pop across to Bariloche in argentina too!
Vicki my host provided me with everything I needed and loads of information and tips to make my stay thoroughly enjoyable. Not alone is she wonderfully hospitable she is most entertaining and full of interesting stories and facts about the locality. A gifted interior designer she has transformed a traditional barn into a cosy homely space, a meeting point for travelers to socialise, plan their trips and enjoy a glass of wine.
I had a wonderful time in Puerto Varas and was charmed by the courtesy of its people. I also enjoyed the colour, shapes of its houses, the freshness and bounty of its food (the butter is very good - almost as good as Kerrygold!) and endless selection of handcrafts and I was blessed with solid sunshine(23-30*) too!
While there I recommend you pick up some exquisite chocolates, spices and preserves from Vicki Johnson's shop. They are simply delicious and make my return to winter in Dublin all the sweeter! oh and dont forget the pisco! -

NYCHome away from Home!
Left on 11/09/2012 for a stay in August 2012
The Barn is by far the best place to stay in Puerto Varas if you want to stay away from the standard touristy hotel and want something a few notches above a hostel.
When I moved to Chile, I stayed in Vicki's Barn for a month and I instantly met others that were making the same transition or were already resident Puerto Varinos, which made settling in much easier. While having the luxury of a large private room and private bathroom, you also have the opportunity to engage with other Chileans and/or ex-pats that are traveling through Puerto Varas or decided to make this town their home. It's affordable, cozy, and in a location that is only a 5-10 minute walk to the center. Furthermore, what Vicki has done with the Barn is amazing, it's a piece of art that belongs on an Hgtv show.
Lastly, Vicki, herself, is a delight and someone you have to meet when you come to Puerto Varas. She's a warm and radiant soul.
Whether you're just staying for a few nights, months, or making Puerto Varas your new home, the Barn is the perfect portal to new beginnings, new adventures and new people. -

San CarlosBeautiful rustic/french/southern Chile rental
Left on 11/01/2012 for a stay in January 2011
"The home we wished we had at home!! This place is reminiscent of a rustic spacious farm life with the advantage of being close to town and having all the amenities of modern living. My wife and I stayed here for about 10 days last summer and enjoyed being able to use a kitchen that was fit for a family of 10:). It's located walking distance from downtown but feels very private. We traveled down to southern Chile for the usual outdoor activities and decided to get something more than just a hotel room. When we asked around town we were told by a couple people that Vicki was the person to talk to if we wanted a different lodging experience. All i can say is that that's exactly what we got. Vicki pretty much made our life easy and has given this place a personal touch around every corner and every room. If you are looking for space, privacy, a space to host (did I mention awesome kitchen) convenience and an owner that will give you the ins and outs of the region, this is the place.

Beautiful old barn Reconverted into a warming place to enjoy and share one of the prettiest city in chile. Few blocks far away from downtown and Llanquihue lake is another plus.
