Casa Auratus is situated on the edge of the jungle in the Gandoca-Manzanillo wildlife refuge.
The house is conveniently located about 800 meters north of the village of Manzanillo, the southernmost settlement along the coast road on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. The beautiful beaches of Manzanillo and Punta Uva are nearby.
Casa Auratus has two bedrooms, each with a queen size bed. The upper loft bedroom has its own bathroom and a terrace with an outside shower. From the upstairs bedroom the adjacent jungle appears as a wall of green that is transformed into a beautiful firefly show after dark.

One thing I hate about these reviews is they are always too long. That being said I will hit the high points. The house was even better than we anticipated. It really is right in the jungle with animals all around. You have to make sure to be on the upper deck at least one night just after dark. The fireflies are simply breath taking. The house is quiet except for the howler monkeys who wake up at 5:00 a.m. and are quite amazing. They are also all over around the house in the trees howling at you when you walk by.
Other things you should know are that the only town anywhere near the house is Monzanillo about a mile away. I would highly recommend contacting Emmanuelle in advance and having her arrange for either a motorcycle or car in PV, about 4 miles away. Also there is no phone in the house so make sure to rent an internet card from Green Management so if you need to contact anyone you can use Google Voice. Also, if you are very adventurous you can rent a bike and ride the road to Manzanillo or PV which is nice but really only fun for a day or so. Make sure to also do this in PV as the rental bike in Manzanillo are not worth anything.
In closing I would add that Emmanuelle and the Green Management team went out of their way in more ways than I can count to make our stay pleasurable. Thanks to everyone at Green Management you are consummate professionals! -

We had a magical experience at Casa auratus. Monkeys were all around us, and we particularly enjoyed taking showers on the outside terrace where we could watch the monkeys and hear all the birds. The fireflys put on quite a display at night. The beaches nearby in Manzanillo and Punta Uva were spectacular.

Staff was super friendly and professional. Great Deal Check out the near by Punta Uva beach and make sure you eat a maxi's restaurant nearby
